Chapter 75:
Alpha Silas’ pov.
Myers ran into the throne room, frantically looking around as if he was lost. I rose from my chair immediately, running over to him and placing my hand on his shoulder.
“Calm down! For goodness sake, you're scaring me Myers!” I yelled and he sighed heavily, wiping the sweat off his face.
“Axel is close Alpha, he is very close.” He announced, his voice showing how scared he was.
“Did you set eyes on him?”
“No, but one of the soldiers did and according to his description, it would take less than twenty four hours for him to get here. His army is in front of him, his plan is to damage the lot he can before getting to you.” He explained and I almost gasped.
I have been trying not to appear weak in front of my subjects. If I allow them to see me in a vulnerable state, they will lose all hope and no one will have the strength to fight.
“What should we do now?” He asked.
“The women and children are safe, at least he won't be able to get to them.” I muttered. “How is the security at the pack borders?”
“Tight, just like you asked.” He replied.
I turned my back on him, pacing around and trying to come up with something. This is all too sudden, I wasn't prepared for a war. I thought I had completely gotten rid of Axel, how the hell did he come back stronger?
“We have to meet him.” I said to Myers, turning to face him again. He raised his brow in confusion.
“How do you mean?”
“We can't let him and his army get into the pack, they'll destroy lives and properties! We have to go out and meet them at the middle, the war will be fought there, not within my pack.” I explained and he went silent for a few seconds, probably trying to review my plan.
“Alpha, I think that's the best idea.” He nodded in agreement.
“I will get the soldiers to suit up and get ready for the battle.”
“Good, every man must partake in this war, make sure they all take part in this. This victory against Axel is for all of us.” I instructed and he bowed, about to rush off when he stopped and looked at me again.
“You must stay hidden, Alpha.” He said and I frowned, wondering what he meant by that.
“What do you mean stay hidden?”
“Axel is after your life, all he wants is to get to you and you know that. The pack can't afford to lose you, it's my duty as your beta to keep you safe so you must remain hidden in the vault.” He read out and my brows furrowed in anger.
My people are under threat and instead of fighting, I'm supposed to hide away like a puppy? That isn't happening.
“I will do no such thing Myers!”
“I have always listened to you Alpha, but not this time, I cannot and will not compromise your life for any reason.” He sounded like he was threatening me, making me shudder.
“Myers, I am your Alpha and I have the final say. Go and prepare the soldiers, I will meet you at the border.” I told him but he did not look happy with that.
“If you refuse then you leave me no other choice but to apply force.” He said, staring straight into my eyes.
“Are you threatening me?” I asked through gritted teeth but before he could answer me, three of my guards appeared beside him, all looking like they were hungry for blood.
“Take him to the vault and seal it properly.”
My eyes widened in shock as the guards charged towards me, grabbed me and before I knew it, we were in the vault.
“Don't you fucking dare lock that door! I will kill you all!” I yelled aggressively as they left the vault, and I heard it lock.
“Fuck! Fuck!” I growled, feeling the rage in my veins.
“Release me and I'll get us out of here.” Sin, my wolf growled from inside but I shook my head, refusing to succumb.
I can't let my wolf out, he is the reason for all of this in the first place. Axel, my pack, Feyi, he is responsible for everything, I can't take another risk, I simply can't.
“Are you simply going to stay in here and watch your pack fall to ruin? Axel is going to win and you'll be known as the weak Alpha who couldn't defend his pack for the rest of your life.” Sin continued and I snarled.
“Can you stop? Shut the fuck up and let me think.” I fired, letting out a heavy sigh. He's really chatty today, I know my rage awakened him, I should have kept my anger under control.
“You know I'm your only way out of here.” He whispered before going silent.
I couldn't think of anything else, everything that Sin said kept playing in my head. Sin is the only way I can break out of here, but I haven't released him in a long time and I don't plan to, not after all the havoc he caused.
“Come on, Axel is going to win if you don't go out there.” He continued to taunt me.
“Stop it, he's not going to win.” I argued.
“Are you really going to sit here and play the odds? Well, your choice. Let's see how that turns out.” He chuckled.
He was messing with my head and winning again. I have to get out of here.
After some time, I finally succumbed to Sin and allowed myself to shift. The big, grey wolf was finally free, standing tall and majestic.
“Now this is what I'm talking about!” He roared and before I knew it, he had rammed into the wall, shattering it and freeing us. He ran crazily out of the palace, making his way into the pack village.
“Slow down! I sense danger.” I told him and he stopped walking.
A lot of soldiers were running towards the direction of the safe house and I got worried. Myers passed and stopped when he saw Sin. His eyes widened in shock.
“You transformed!?” His wolf communicated to mine.
“I had to, since you decided to lock me up.” I snarled.
“Where is everyone running to?” I asked, noticing his restlessness and fear.
“The safe house has been set ablaze.”
