Alpha Kelvin’s POV
“Should I be worried that a man my status had just had sex with his Luna after meeting with other pack members?”
The ruffling of the soft sheets made a crinkling sound as I turned to find her smiling back at me seductively still. And in seconds she scampered down the bed, dressing up almost immediately.
Her face bled crimson, giving a rosy shade to her cheeks. I turned on my stomach as loud cheers from the other members in the hall cheered on, making loud noises.
Without Sophie in bed, I was finally able to spread my legs and occupy a large space resting my tired body.
I was about falling face-free on my pillow when her next word stopped me.
“We have to go join the others!”
At that moment I realized I had men to attend to.
“Go ahead, I’d join you in a couple of minutes,” I said, turning away from her with my eyes now glued to the ceiling.
The door to the bedroom we had both snuck in creaked open and then closed in seconds. Followed by the soft clicking of her heels on the floorboard as she walked away.
I took in a deep breath and then perked up to my feet as I grabbed my pants and had it worn. In less than. In a couple of minutesd election of the packs going on out there.
The minute I stepped out, I found Charles by the hallway pacing like he’d seen or heard something. Deep down my guts, I could tell that it was definitely something bad.
“Charles,” I called out from behind him.
“What’s wrong?”
He took a step towards me, and then leaned closer to me as if being watched.
“There’s trouble,” Charles finally said.
I raised a brow staring back at me, wondering what the hell had happened in my absence and why he sounded this concerned.
“It’s Gavin!” He added.
The minute he said that, I felt my insides churn with so much anger wondering what it was Gavin had done this time.
“What about him?” I asked.
“All men elected into the executive board turned out to be anonymous men from his pack,” He began.
“We have no member from other packs elected into the executive committee, and you know what that means,”
Another wave of anger coursed through my veins, that I paused in my track staring into the darkness ahead. I tightened my fist angrily, feeling a bit pissed that he was trying to form a committee of his, but using the wrong lead.
“Get me Alex!” I scowled, as I continued in my steps.
“One more thing,” Charles cut in, looking more worried than usual.
“Currently as we speak, there’s been an attack on the smaller part of town down our pack,”
Fresh terror stabbed at me, seeing that my pack had been attacked in my absence.
“How long ago was that?” I asked.
“An hour ago Kev, we needed you for orders but I looked everywhere for you,”
“And Alex?” I asked.
“He’s with the others, trying to protect those left,”
“Left?”
“We lost lives…mothers, fathers, and—-,” He stuttered looking away.
“Children as well,”
“Fuck!” I groaned, frustratingly holding a hand up my face. Somehow figuring out that the meeting for today had been some sort of a distraction and even worse the fact that Sophie had suddenly appeared, taking me away as well.
“This was indeed planned!” I said.
“What do we do about Gavin and his men?” He asked, following suit from behind me as we headed out of the mansion to the garage.
“I’ll have that figured out later on,” I added, knowing I had an attack to attend to, other than Gavin’s silly attitude of cheating at the election.
“Where are they suspected to be coming from?”
“Northwest,” Charles responded.
“Order more men for back up, and ask them to be there in five minutes. We’re going to block them off,” I said.
*******************
Moreover it was a dark night, beneath the shelter of the woods we couldn’t tell whether or not the person approaching us was friend or enemy. Until it was too late to avoid a clash.
I found myself fighting for positions deeper and deeper into the woods. Eventually the morning sun broke through the shelter, offering a small bit of hope that at least some fighters at my side remained.
I was cutting my way through a clearing when I heard the shouts of men ahead. Followed by a screeching sound that turned my stomach.
It felt as though the cries suddenly came from those being tortured by whomever those men were.
‘I can’t tolerate this!’ I thought to myself.
Readying my sword, I charged in their direction unsure of what to expect. I reached the crest of a small hill and looked down to see more men by the small town down my pack.
Each man with an armored vest. One that had an unfamiliar symbol, a symbol I’d never seen before. But I could tell from the smell oozing from their direction, that they were nothing but rogue men.
Probably used by rivalry packs against us.
“Kelvin!”
I nearly jumped at hearing the hiss of my name. But Charles placed a hand on my shoulder then crouched beside me.
“You followed the smell here too,”
“I think they’re rogue men,” I whispered.
I perked up to my feet, ready to charge into the arena where the rogue men fought with my men. But then, I was held back by Charles.
“You can’t just go into the field without men around you for protection!” He protested.
“I can fend for myself!” I added, and then snapped my hands away from his.
“Fine, I’ll give you cover, but we both know that this is a terrible idea,” Charles said and then brought out multiple discs, one for each man ahead.
“Whatever you do, don’t you dare get hurt first!” He whispered into my face with a wink. A smile tugged at my lips at his funny gesture and then I tightened my grip on my sword as I trudged down the hill as quietly as I could.
The men were so engrossed in the cruelty of their actions that they failed to notice me, until I was half way down. Just when one had noticed, with a shout of alarm, they turned in my direction and in seconds charged at me.
I ducked almost immediately, and in seconds had my sword right through the rogue man who had charged at me first. In seconds the others behind followed suit as I had my sword right through everyone of them. Followed by a few cuts.
And just then, Charles had helped in knocking out a man who was right behind me. I looked over to him and bobbed my head with a wink.
But at that moment, I realized something was off. Looking closely I noticed a figure right behind him.
“Charles move!” I called out, gesturing for him to move away, but then he had a brow raised. A bit lost on what I was yelling from a distance.
Unfortunately, I’d been too late!…
I was met with the sight of my beta being struck by a rogue man and thrown off the hill from earlier.
“Charles!!!” I yelled.
