Chapter 1: The Magic Eye

Allen Lee felt a sharp pain in his head as he rose from his bed. He felt for his nightstand glasses and put them on, but when he opened his eyes, he felt a blinding sensation in front of him.

Allen removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes, realizing his shortsightedness had healed.

"What's going on with me? Could it have something to do with that old man from last night?" Allen recalled the events of last night suspiciously.

On his way back from visiting his mother in the hospital, Allen saw an old black homeless man being bullied by some punks. Allen went up to them and chased them away, and seeing how poor the homeless man was, he gave him a piece of bread and a cup of coffee.

The homeless man said he wanted to give Allen a gift, and then Allen saw a strange blue light in front of him. He vaguely remembered the blue light from the homeless man's eyes. As for how he returned home later, Allen could not remember.

"So, he gave me a thank-you gift for curing my nearsightedness?" Allen felt amazing. He hadn't seen many superhero movies, and just as he wondered about the homeless man's identity, the doorbell rang.

Allen got out of bed, put on his shoes, and headed for the door. "Lillian, did you forget your keys again?"

Lillian Lee is Allen's sister, and it's supposed to be time to come home from grocery shopping.

Allen opened the door to his room, and outside stood not Lillian but a beautiful woman in a printed ruffled women's shirt and white striped pants.

"Are you ...... Dobbin?" Allen froze for a moment as he looked at the blonde in front of him.

Dobbin Geral is the Allen family's landlord and is a beautiful lady with turquoise eyes and long blonde hair.

"Sister Dobbin, it doesn't seem like it's time to pay the rent today, does it?" Allen looked at Dobbin somewhat nervously.

Allen and his family already owed a month's rent and had agreed to pay it together this month. Now, three days were left before the rent payment deadline, and Allen knew that relying on Lillian's paycheck alone, the family would have to rely on the government's relief to get by after the rent was paid.

"Don't worry, Allen. I came to see you because I was hoping that you could come and do me a favor. The light bulb in my house is broken. Could you come and change it for me?" Dobbin opened his mouth to inquire.

"Gladly at your service." Allen nodded, doing whatever he was told to do as long as it wasn't to press for rent.

Just as Allen was about to go to the bedroom to change into a change of clothes first, Dobbin surveyed Allen curiously.

"Allen, you don't seem the same as you used to. Have you been working out lately?" Dobbin inquired.

Allen looked down suspiciously and suddenly realized that his pant legs seemed to be a little shorter. Allen thought of last night's hobo, and he immediately ran into the bathroom, only to be surprised by the figure in the mirror.

"My God ...... what happened to me?" Allen then realized that he seemed to have grown about five centimeters taller, and his originally somewhat skinny body was now full of muscle lines visible to the naked eye.

"Am I turning into Spider-Man?" Allen wondered when he suddenly noticed that something seemed different about his eyes.

Allen lifted his face to the mirror and realized that his eyes seemed to emanate a faint light from tiny points of light like stars.
