Chapter 15: Moses’ Invitation
Jerome drew the card that 'Lady Luck' had chosen.
"It's decided that it's you!" Jerome yelled out very mid-sentence, trying to take out the pain in his testicles by shouting.
When Jerome's cards were revealed, Henry had the most challenging time taking them in.
Henry looked at the ghost cards on the table and yelled, "No way, you're cheating! You must be cheating!"
Jerome, still with his legs clenched, sneered coldly, "Is James Taber's son a sore loser?"
Henry suddenly grabbed Jerome by the collar and said viciously, "You must have cheated. I'm not going to give you my shares!"
Jerome pushed Henry out of the way as soon as possible, then looked at a young man in a white suit.
"Walker, is that what you think?" Jerome's eyes took on a grim look.
Walker Morris, the party’s promotor, is backed by the Morris family, which has enormous power.
"I'll make him honor the bet." Walker nodded toward Jerome.
Henry got up from the ground and shouted, "You can't promise him! He must be cheating! I won't admit it!"
"That's enough, Henry! Haven't you been humiliated enough today? Take him down!" Walker growled towards Henry and told his men to drag Henry away.
After this point, there was no point in continuing the party, and Jerome walked out of the villa with Allen and Moses. It was just that Jerome was walking in a somewhat odd position.
"Your testicles aren't inflamed, are they?" Moses looked at Jerome suspiciously.
"No, it's much better, just the occasional pain." Jerome shrugged, his expression unconcerned, but his face was pale.
"I suggest you go to the hospital. If you drag it out too long, you might have to cut it out," Allen kindly reminded Jerome before unleashing his ability again.
"Oh~fuck! Bitch! The bet is over. Why is she still ravaging my testicles!" Jerome's face went even whiter as he hunched over and moved step by step to the car.
"I'm sorry, Allen, I must go to the hospital first, Moses. Please give him a lift for me first." Jerome finished and immediately urged the driver to drive. He had to get to the hospital as soon as possible to save his sexual well-being.
Moses looked at Allen and asked, "Come on, want a ride home?"
Allen nodded, "I'd like to go somewhere first if that's okay."
Moses hadn't refused, but Jerome had given her some of the many things Allen had won today, which made her feel some favor and curiosity about Allen.
Moses drove Allen to the Rock City Art Museum, which he said had many pieces of artwork.
Moses followed Allen into the art gallery and saw him beside an oil painting.
The oil painting depicted a begonia, also a Moom's painting, but Allen frowned as he looked at the oil painting.
'How could there be none?' Doubt arose in Allen's mind.
He'd come to the museum to see if he could continue to absorb that golden light, the light that was the key to boosting his superpowers.
"Do you like Moom's paintings too?" Moses asked suddenly.
Allen hesitated momentarily and said, "I don't know much about oil paintings, but Moom's begonias give me a special feeling, just like Van Gogh's sunflowers. I don't know why; this painting by Mom doesn't continue to give me that feeling."
Moses looked at Allen and seemed to understand something. "You probably have a special talent for art, but this painting could be a fake."
"Fake? There are fakes in museums?" Allen exclaimed.
Moses rolled his eyes. "You don't think everything in a museum is real? Some museums display high-fakes to protect expensive collections and keep the real ones safe. It's not like most people can see them anyway."
Allen was entirely out of it. He wasn't that dignified to get his hands on the actual artwork in the safe.
"Forget it. I'm not interested in art anymore. Let's go." Allen was just about to leave when Moses called out to him.
"Wait, while I don't have a lot of art research, I do have a few pieces of art in my house that maybe you could look at." Moses extended an invitation to Allen.
Allen raised an eyebrow, instantly recalling the scenes he had seen when he was an 'oil painting.' It made his heart race.
"I'd love to see it if I can." Allen suppressed his wildly beating heart and agreed to Moses' invitation.
