One Hundred & Eleven
One Hundred & Eleven
The sun had barely risen, and yet tension already thickened the air inside the De Luca estate.
Sofia sat in the grand living room, a crystal glass of wine in her hand though it was far too early for it. The robe around her shoulders was half-slipped, her eyes hollow, her jaw tight.
The mansion, once alive with servants and laughter, now felt like a tomb.
The doors slammed open.
Victor Langston stormed in, his face flushed with anger. “Where the hell is he?”
Sofia didn’t look up. “Who?”
“Luciano!” he barked, pacing. “Where is that idiot?”
She let out a slow exhale. “I haven’t seen him since last night. He left after the call. Why?”
Victor strode over to the television, snatching the remote from the table. “You haven’t seen the news, have you?”
Sofia frowned. “Victor, what are you talking about…”
He pressed play.
The screen flickered to life, showing a live press conference. Flashing cameras, reporters shouting questions, microphones shoved forward like weapons.
And there he was.
Dante.
Standing tall beside Matthew Ravanelli. The two men side by side… power and vengeance wrapped in human form.
Victor pointed at the screen, his voice a snarl. “There! Look at it! Look at what he’s done!”
Dante’s calm, steady voice filled the room.
“As of this morning, all assets, accounts, and holdings under Luciano De Luca have been transferred to Ravanelli-Virello Holdings. We look forward to this partnership.”
Then he paused, gaze cutting through the cameras, eyes burning cold fire.
“This is only the beginning. You're next.”
The reporters went wild. The broadcast ended with Matthew stepping up beside Dante, shaking his hand...two families now allied, united by revenge.
The words hit the room like thunder.
Before Sofia could get herself, the front door opened again. Heavy, stumbling footsteps echoed through the hall. Luciano appeared... his clothes torn, his face pale, a streak of dried blood near his temple.
Sofia turned to him, eyes blazing. “Where the hell have you been?”
He didn’t answer, just stood there shaking, trying to catch his breath.
“What did you do?” she yelled, voice cracking. “What have you done, you fool?”
Luciano tried to speak, his voice hoarse. “He…he caught me… Dante…he… he made me sign everything. All my accounts, my shares, every hidden trust. It’s gone. He took it all.”
The room froze.
Then, in one sharp motion, Sofia slapped him across the face.
The sound echoed like a gunshot.
“You idiot!” she screamed. “You stupid, useless coward! How could you let this happen!”
You let him take everything from us!” she screamed. “Everything father built… our name, our money…gone! Because you’re weak!”
Luciano’s voice broke as he shouted back. “I didn’t let him! He took it from me! He had me tied up like an animal… made me sign every document, every transfer, every hidden account! He knows everything, Sofia! Every offshore vault, every shell company…it’s gone!”
Victor stared at him, stunned. “He…he made you transfer it all?”
Luciano looked at him with hollow eyes. “Every damn thing.”
He turned to Sofia, his voice trembling but sharp. “And you… you started this! You and your obsession with Dante! You couldn’t leave him alone, could you? You couldn’t stand that he chose someone else, that he loved someone else! So you had to destroy him!”
Sofia’s face hardened, her voice icy. “Watch your mouth.”
Luciano stepped closer, breathing heavily. “You doomed us all, Sofia. You and your stupid pride. Now Dante’s coming for the rest of us…and he won’t stop until we’re doomed.”
Victor slammed his hand on the table, the sound echoing through the room. “Enough!”
They froze.
He looked from one to the other, his voice low and venomous. “You think this is about pride or money? This is war. And we are not going down without a fight. I'm not going to let that rat take everything I worked hard to build.”
Sofia’s eyes flashed. “You don’t fight Dante Virello. Let's have him killed and do it right this time.”
Luciano laughed bitterly, shaking his head. “Another stupid plan, Sofia. I saw it in his eyes. It's going to be hard doing anything to that man. He’s not just coming for what we own. He’s coming for us.”
Victor stepped closer to the window, staring out at the long driveway where the news trucks had started gathering beyond the gates. His reflection looked older, harder.
He spoke quietly, almost to himself. “Then let him come.”
Luciano looked at him, pale and trembling. “He already has.”
And outside, the faint sound of reporters shouting grew louder, echoing across the estate as the De Luca empire began to crumble.… not from bullets, but from vengeance wearing Dante Virello’s name.
…..
The gates of the De Luca estate were swarmed with flashing lights and screaming voices.
Reporters shoved microphones forward, cameras rolled, and helicopters hovered above like vultures circling a dying beast.
The once untouchable De Luca name was now plastered across every headline:
“RAVANELLI–VIRELLO ALLIANCE TAKES OVER DE LUCA HOLDINGS.”
“LUCIANO DE LUCA STRIPPED OF POWER INSIDER FRAUD REVEALED.”
“SOFIA DE LUCA UNDER INVESTIGATION.”
Sofia stood at the entrance, chin high, diamonds glinting under the harsh camera flashes.
Beside her, Victor wore a mask of contained fury, and Luciano looked hollow, his eyes distant, his bruises faintly visible beneath layers of makeup.
A press aide whispered, “Ma’am, we’re live in five.”
Sofia adjusted her coat, forcing a smile. “Good,” she said coldly. “Let them hear from me.”
The red light blinked.
The cameras rolled.
Sofia stepped forward to the microphone, her voice cutting through the chaos.
“Good morning,” she began, every word sharp and measured. “What you’ve heard in the media is nothing short of a fabrication .…a calculated smear campaign orchestrated by individuals desperate to destroy my family’s legacy.”
Flashes erupted. Reporters shouted questions, but she raised a manicured hand.
“I will not be intimidated by lies,” she continued. “My brother has not transferred any assets. These supposed documents are forgeries, and the people spreading these stories will face the full weight of the law. The De Luca family is not broken, nor will we ever be.”
Victor stepped closer, placing a steadying hand on the podium.… his voice deep and controlled. “This is an act of economic warfare. Those behind it know who they are, and they’ll answer for it.”
Luciano, standing a few steps behind, said nothing. His jaw clenched, but he didn’t look at the cameras. He couldn’t.
Sofia gave the cameras her most practiced, venomous smile. “Let me make this clear: no one…no one…takes from us and walks away unscathed.”
The crowd of reporters shouted over one another:
“Miss. De Luca, what about Dante Virello?”
“How do you feel about your ex-husband being alive?”
“How do you respond to Ravanelli’s claims of legal ownership?”
Sofia’s expression didn’t falter, though her hand trembled slightly around the microphone. “Dead men can’t own empires,” she said smoothly, her smile turning sharp. “And as far as I know, Dante Virello remains exactly where he belongs… in the past.”
