Chapter 34 Anger

Chapter 34 Anger

Marilyn's POV

Tessa didn’t waste even one second.
She didn’t scream.

She didn’t panic. She just reacted fast like someone used to controlling bad situations.

Without hesitation, Tessa immediately pulled off her long outer gown in one sharp move and threw it down on the wet floor in front of her.

Then she stepped onto it carefully, using it like a carpet so her heels wouldn’t slide. Her movements were quick but steady, like she had done this before.

I stared in shock. That was so smart. So simple. So obvious. “Why didn’t I think of that…” I thought, my heart squeezing tight with regret.

If I my I'd done that earlier, Lucian wouldn’t have fallen. None of this mess would have happened. The guilt started growing heavier inside my chest.

Tessa finally made it over to our side, stepping only on the gown as she moved.

The moment she got close, she didn’t even look at my face first. She just grabbed my arm—hard and rough. “Stand up!” she snapped. Her nails were long and sharp, and they dug into my skin as she dragged me up like she was lifting a bag of trash.

I winced in pain. “Ah— I’m sorry!” I cried, stumbling back as I tried to find balance.

Tessa’s grip was tight, angry, and full of blame.

I could feel it clearly—Tessa thought this was all my fault.

As I struggled to stand straight, my eyes lifted for a second—and that was when I saw Tessa properly.

Tessa was not fully dressed either. Under the gown she had removed, she wore neat, matching underwear that looked expensive and carefully chosen.

Her hair was slightly messy, like she had been relaxing before all this happened. But even like that, she looked confident… bold… and dangerous.

I bet this was why Lucian made her the hardest of maids… her energy really matches that of a head of maids.

I quickly looked away again, feeling even more awkward and small.

This situation was already bad, and now it felt worse.

Tessa didn't dull out.

Without saying another word to me, she immediately turned and reached toward the bed.

She grabbed two pillows quickly and walked back across the gown path she made. “Here,” she said, kneeling beside Lucian and placing the pillows behind him. Her voice was softer when she spoke to him.

She suddenly became so calm and careful.

At first, I thought she might be hiding her feelings for Lucian, but then I started noticing the way she avoided his touch… the way her smile never quite reached her eyes whenever he was around.

And who knows?

Maybe she really is hiding her feelings.

That's definitely none of my business.

Right now, I just need them to believe me that all of this was a mistake and never was my plan.

Lucian let out a slow breath and used the pillows to support his back as he pushed himself up slowly.

His face tightened in pain as he moved. “Easy… easy…” Tessa murmured, one hand hovering near his shoulder like she couldn't just wait to touch him.

The way her hands moved smoothly around him was as if she had begged for a day like this to come so she could eventually touch Lucian and learn about what his body felt like.

The moment Lucian managed to sit properly, his patience suddenly snapped again. He grabbed the towel and pulled it tighter around himself. “Get out!” he barked loudly, his voice filling the whole room.

I flinched hard.

Lucian's eyes were full of anger and embarrassment. He didn’t even look at my face—he just pointed toward the door. “Out! Right now!”

I remained frozen.

I almost forgot the direction of the door.

Tessa turned sharply toward me, her face twisted in disgust. “You heard him!” she shouted. “Get the fuck out!” Her voice was sharp like a knife.

My heart dropped straight to my stomach.

I opened my mouth to speak… maybe to apologise, but no words came out.

My throat felt tight and my hands trembled as I bent to grab the mop stick I'd dropped earlier.

I didn’t even try to defend myself this time around.

I just nodded quickly, almost bowing, and hurried toward the door. My feet slipped once but I caught the wall to steady myself.

I grabbed the mop stick like it was the only thing keeping me alive and without hesitation, I rushed out of the room like a scared child running from a nightmare.

My heart was beating so loud I could hear it in my ears.

The moment I stepped outside, just immediately, I heard Lucian’s voice again from inside the room. “Not just her… you too. Out.” he said to Tessa, though, his voice wasn’t as loud this time. It sounded lower. Tired. Almost like he didn’t want others to hear.

I froze outside the door, shocked. Even Tessa?
He's sending Tessa out too?

Then just immediately, I heard the soft click of Tessa’s heels moving toward the door.

I bet she was stepping out too.

But then, I heard Lucian's voice again, but this time he sounded very low and soft… almost like a whisper.

“Take this… cover up.” Lucian said.

Then there was a short pause, followed by the soft sound of fabric rustling. Tessa didn’t reply loudly, but I understood what happened.

She is probably putting on the cloth that Lucian might have handed over to her so she could cover up her body.

A few seconds later, the door opened and Tessa stepped out. She was now wearing one of Lucian’s jackets over her body. It was big on her, covering her well.

Her face was still hard and angry.

She didn’t look at me at first. She just stepped out fully and closed the door behind her with a firm push.

I slowly looked down at my wrinkled uniform, my wet clothes, and my shaking hands. “I’m dead,” I thought. “I’m really dead today.”

My mind was running fast. How on earth will I ever be able to explain this? Who would believe me?

I felt tears burn behind my eyes but I forced them back.

Tessa finally turned to face me.

Her eyes slowly scanned me from head to toe like she was looking at dirt and I was the dirt.

The way she twisted her face was like I'm just a pure disgusting piece of shit.

I couldn't even lift my head fully.

I was so embarrassed.

Tessa after a while eventually spoke up, her voice cold and sharp. “No food for you today.” Surprisingly, she didn’t shout. She said it so calmly that I thought something might have gone wrong with her.

However, even though she was gentle with her words, somehow, it still felt worse than her usual scream.

And without saying another word, Tessa turned and walked away angrily, her heels clicking down the hallway.
