Chapter 34 Chapter 0034
•ANTONIO•

“How far are we from finding those Conti cunts?” I asked August, my voice carrying a mix of irritation and impatience.

It was around eleven at night when he came to see me at the club, and we were sitting in the VIP section with a bottle of bourbon between us.

“We will find them,” he replied calmly, taking a slow sip from his glass. “It will just take a little time, Antonio. You have to remember, Dante is very smart and strategic.”

“They need to be dealt with,” I said, leaning back in my chair and letting out a heavy sigh. “They could have killed Albero but didn’t. It feels like they were sending a message instead.”

“You need to stop worrying so much,” August said, his tone even. “Dante knows better than to attack you unannounced. He knows the risks, and he’s smarter than that.”

The only person I truly worried about, however, was Isabella. I didn’t know how to protect her when she constantly provoked me, whether by fighting me or deliberately trying to make me jealous.

“While we wait for them to show their faces, I need men watching over Albero. He’s my father-in-law, and I can’t risk his life,” I added, pouring myself another glass of bourbon.

“I already have someone at the hospital with him,” August answered, leaning back. “I’ll get another to keep an eye on his place until he’s discharged.”

“That will be better,” I acknowledged, sipping my drink.

After a pause, August tilted his head, studying me. “If I may ask, Antonio, is there something bothering you? You seem on edge. Did you have a rough day?”

I groaned. “Isabella,” I muttered.

“What did she do now?” he asked, though I didn’t need to explain. He already knew how often she tested my patience.

“I had to kill someone else because of her. She went on another date with this guy, Peter. I had no choice,” I admitted, the frustration in my voice impossible to hide.

August chuckled quietly. “Are you serious? It seems like your wife is determined to get a divorce by any means necessary,” he replied with a grin.

I rolled my eyes and took another sip of bourbon. “I don’t know what she wants from me. I’ve provided her with everything she could ever need.”

“Maybe you need to seduce her sometimes,” August said, wiggling his eyebrows with a mischievous smile.

“Make her want you, man, you know.”

I shook my head and got up from the chair. “Enough about her. Let’s go to my office. I have something to show you.”

As we headed upstairs, someone stepped into our path before we could reach the door. It was Tom.

‘So brave of him to show up here,’ I thought, internally rolling my eyes.

“Not him again,” I muttered under my breath, groaning. I could never understand why he wouldn’t give up, even though Isabella was legally mine.

“I have a deal for you, Antonio,” he said, his gaze locked on mine.

August tilted his head, studying him. “Is this Tom?”

“Yes,” I said through gritted teeth. “Tom Creed. I guess we can hear what deal he thinks he can offer us in my office,” I added, sighing in annoyance.

Once inside my office, I closed the door behind us and settled into my chair, ready to hear what Tom had to say.

August leaned on the edge of the table, arms folded, and his expression neutral but attentive.

I knew instantly it would involve him trying to get Isabella back, but that was impossible. Not in a million years.

“If you let Isabella off the contractual marriage agreement,” Tom began. “I will tell you where Dante is and how to defeat him and his brothers. I know where they get their weapons and who they are working with.”

August and I exchanged a look. Even though Isabella was part of the equation, I was curious about what Tom actually knew.

“If I remember correctly,” August answered. “The Conti stripped your family of everything. If you really have this information, why haven’t you taken revenge on them, Tom?”

“I have the information, yes, but not the resources to use it,” Tom replied evenly. “There’s nothing more valuable to me than making this deal with you. You get what you want, and I get Isabella and the Conti off my back once you’ve dealt with them.”

I chuckled, rising from my chair to approach him. We stood facing each other in silence for a moment before I finally spoke.

“Don’t even think about it, Creed. I will handle my business, and you handle yours. If you come to my office again, keep my wife’s name out of your mouth,” I said, my voice low and threatening.

Tom didn’t respond. He simply turned and walked out, closing the door quietly behind him.

I returned to my chair and poured myself another glass. August scoffed. “I think you just messed up a good deal there, Antonio. He was going to take us to the Conti.”

“You must be joking. I can’t give up Isabella to him,” I replied, sitting down on the chair.

“No, you weren’t going to give her up. We could've used him to get the information first, then dealt with him afterward,” August insisted.

“You’re right, but what if he insisted on Isabella before giving the information? I can’t risk that. She’s my wife.”

August groaned, sitting down across from me. “You’re right. We have no choice but to force the information from him.”

“He has people,” I warned. "And it will be risky to corner him."

“We have no choice, Antonio,” August answered, his voice steady. “Dante will either come for us, or we go to him first. The choice is ours.”
