“Don’t yell at me John.” John got up from the table and started pacing. “How is the wound now?” He asked Enzo totally ignoring me. “It’s fine John you can relax.” “I’ll feel better if she’s seen by a doctor.” “Well, I won’t.” I said looking at him. “I’m going to kill Nico.” John said as he was pacing. “No, you are not. I told him I won’t tell you guys and he shouldn’t tell you.” “So, you wanted to lie.” John screamed again. “No John, I didn’t want this.” I screamed back at him, moving my finger between the two of us. Frank got up and spoke softly to John while Enzo whispered to me “Just calm down angel okay his just worried.” “I know but he doesn’t have to be rude towards me.” “That’s just how he deals, let him calm down, remember he was with you the last time you had a fever he knows how close to death you actually came in New York it’s that fear that is causing him to act like this now.” What Enzo was saying was probable true but I still can’t believe he was screaming at me. I didn’t say a word. I took a bite from my food; I didn’t even taste it John put a bad taste in my mouth. After a few bites and a few paces John came to sit next to me on his knees. “I’m sorry love, I’m I’m just so worried about you I knew how you looked with that fever in New York if anything happened to you, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go on with my life.” Wow that was a heavy declaration of love. I took his cheek in my hands. “It’s okay John, but please don’t yell at me again. The fever broke I was fine for the rest of the trip I even took a nap every single afternoon so Nico looked after me, he just didn’t bring me home and that was my choice not his.” “Okay fine I won’t say anything as long as you are fine now.” “I am I promise.” I lifted my hoodie and showed him the wound. “Feel.” I told John. He put his hand on my wound. “You feel that, it’s fine.” “Okay I’m sorry I over reacted.” “That’s why I didn’t want to tell you I knew you would.” “But you understand why now?” “Yes, John I do.” I leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

When John and Frank eventually left and Cat and I was alone I asked her “You want a night cap?” “Yes, why not, it may let me sleep if I take the pain meds with a glass of cognac.” “You still upset?” I asked as I gave her the small glass with liquid in. “I actually don’t know I did expect a reaction but not the reaction I got.” “What where you expecting angel we all love you and are invested in this relationship if something happens to you, we will never forgive ourselves because it’s our job to look after you.” “I know but it wasn’t all Nico’s fault I mean I should have told him when I got tired, I should have told him when someone bumped into me and hit my wound.” “Fuck Cat and you didn’t?” “No, I waited until we got back to the Hotel then I just played it off and went to bed telling him I was tired, I woke up in the middle of the night with a fever.” “God women.” I picked her up and put her on my lap. “You won’t do that with me right? We finished our drink and walked up the stairs. “Are you going to sleep with me tonight?” I asked her hoping the answer is yes. “Off course or do you want me to sleep in my own bed?” “Hell no.” I said as I picked her up and carried her to the room. I put her on her side and got in on my side. I pulled her back to my front and cuddled my face in her neck. “So how did the meeting go Friday?” She asked “Better than expected everyone is onboard me marrying you and taking over for you.” She pushed away from me and turned around looking at me. “Are you serious?” “I am.
