Chapter 50 UNANIMOUS HELP
Leah's scream rented the air as soon as Rafael's shot spiraled out of the chamber of his gun, dashing towards Luke without a bridge to stop the shot.
Bile rushed into Leah's throat at once as painful tears graced her young eyes. She tried to force her way out of the harsh grip on herself by Rafael's henchmen, but they were too strong— way too strong for her to withhold.
All she could do was shed endless tears and scream her lungs out while she was made to watch Luke wretch in pain with his blood tripping out of his cold wound.
“Argh!” Luke groaned aloud as the excruciating pain riled up through his bones as the bullet from Rafael's gun had lodged deep into his shoulder.
Suddenly, everyone could hear Rafael chuckling, his breath hitched a little like he had just finished a brief marathon race.
“Too bad I missed, I was aiming for his head, you see.” Rafael said with a cackle, watching poor Leah struggle to unleash the intensity of her rage at him.
“You devil!” Leah cried out loud, her throat burning at every single sound she made.
Rafael got into position again, cocking up his gun before aiming it directly at Luke's head this time— willing to fire whenever he called the shots.
Leah fell to her knees immediately as he had managed to slip out of the henchmen's grip on her. She crawled hastily towards Rafael like a pathetic little girl, holding on to his legs as she cried out his name, almost kissing the tip of his shiny shoes.
“I'm sorry, Santiano, I'm sorry— please forgive me.” She cried.
“I thought someone wasn't scared of me.” Rafael mocked, casting a pathetic look at Leah as she scrambled beneath his feet.
“It was very foolish of me to say those words to you. Please let Luke live, let him go and I will give you all the answers you want.” Leah continued desperately, her tears almost causing a flood that continued to blind her.
With a slight tut, Rafael squatted in front of Leah, raising her chin up towards his face so she could look him in the eyes.
Leah's face has turned extremely red from the endless tears and heat of the moment, and they wouldn't stop pouring— just like a broken dam.
“Are you really ready to tell me where Vanessa is or do you still want me to get involved in your… little game?” Rafael asked, raising a questioning brow at her.
Leah nodded her head obediently, her voice hitched in her throat as she was extremely petrified of what more surprises Santiano had for her and Luke as she kept messing around by trying to play tough with him.
“Good girl.” He smiled, tapping her cheek softly. “If you answer my questions truthfully, you and your boyfriend, Luke, might just walk out of this old wine cellar alive and that would be…” He paused briefly, running his hand through Leah's hair like he was going to pat through it, but she pulled away on quick reflex, confusing that act as he was going to hurt her.
“...all thanks to you, Leah.” He finished.
“I promise.” Leah coughed up.
Rafael nodded, drawing his gun towards his mouth as he blew off an imaginary smoke off its tip before guiding the tip of his gun towards Leah's throat.
Fear seized her up again and she began to tremble like she had just gotten soaked in a cold unforgiving rain.
“What does Rachel have to do with Vanessa's disappearance?”
This was the first question Rafael asked Leah and in no time, she had began to tell her own part of the story to Santiano.
The last time Leah had been in contact with Vanessa was the day preceding the Blue Dragon Party hosted by the Martini DeLuca family.
She had suddenly been taken away and confined in a secret basement known only to a few maids within the Devereaux mansion and the following days, she had been locked inside this basement with no food or supply of any sort.
Soon, Leah realized Rachel Devereaux was the one behind this callous act of holding Leah hostage against her own wish.
Rachel had confessed to Leah willingly that she had overheard her conversation with Vanessa the night she had recovered from the bathroom incident and visited Vanessa's room as requested and from there, she had overhead their conversation about planning Vanessa's escape when the time was right.
Rachel had surged at this as an opportunity for Vanessa to finally be away from Rafael since that was what she equally wanted— Vanessa Hudgens to be away from the man she- Rachel was in love with and have nothing to do with him again and she became more than determined to help Vanessa escape from Santiano Rafael Devereaux at all cost with the possibilities of her being with him instead while he finally got over the white woman.
According to Rachel's belief, if Vanessa Hudgens was out of Rafael's sight, it won't take long for him to forget about Vanessa's existence.
“You have nothing to worry about, Leah,” Rachel has said, circling the chair Leah had been tied up to. “I will help your queen get away without you having to move a muscle or… ask for my help.” She finished with a ridiculous laugh.
Leah struggled within the bound, trying to wriggle her way out from the ropes she had been tied up with. Her mouth had also been sealed close with a green take, depriving her from making sounds that could attract someone to save her from the basement.
Her legs were also tied to the seat she had been graced to sit upon, granting her no freedom of movement from the position she had been trapped in from the beginning.
Rachel sashayed over to a table close to where Leah had been tied and this table was a kind that held different kinds of weapons she could handle well without breaking a sweat.
