“Yeah, that’s one way to put it” Melina replied. “How are we going to pick them up from the airport tomorrow? It’s 5 of them, so we won’t all fit in one car”
“I have rented a minivan for the next few weeks. I thought you would want to be with all of them and it made more sense to have more space for their luggage as well” Marco replied.
“Really? When did you do that? I hadn’t even thought about it until now”
“While you were on Christmas decorations fever, I thought to make myself useful and think of the logistics. I imagine that they would want to do some sight seeing as well and I wanted to make sure there is enough space for security as well”
“Boo, how are we going to tell my parents? With the security and everything, we will not be able to avoid telling them. They will have questions, and I don’t want to lie to them”
“Amore, you can tell them the truth or as much of the truth as you are comfortable with. I promise you it will be okay”
“I think I am going to get sick just by thinking of it” Melina said.
Marco went close to her and wrapped his arms around her. “Do you love me?” he asked.
“Of course, I love you” Melina replied and looked him in the eyes.
“Are you happy with me?”
“The happiest I have ever been”
“Then that’s all you need to tell your parents, and I am sure they will be happy for you” Marco said and gave her a peck on the nose.
The following day they got ready and left for the airport to pick up Melina’s family and friends. Marco had rented a Mercedes Benz Vito with 9 seats, which meant that it had enough space for her family, her friends, Marco, Melina and 2 guards.
They arrive at the airport 30 minutes before their plane landed, and they waited by the arrival doors. After what felt like an eternity, Melina saw her brother walking out and she waived at him. He came close and Melina quickly hugged him tight.
“I missed you little one” she said to her brother.
“I missed you too” Thalis said. “Brace yourself. 14 hours in a plane, mom’s energy is in a whole other level”
“Where is mom and dad? And Stella and Sissy?”
“They are waiting for the luggage. I had to leave them for a bit, because I was getting seriously close to murder mom”
Melina laughed, knowing very well how much her mother could be, even though she meant well.
“Little one, this is Marco, my boyfriend. Marco, this is my brother, Thalis” Melina introduce them.
“So you are the saint?” Thalis asked.
“Saint?” Marco asked.
“You must be a saint to put up with my sister” Thalis smirked. “Just fyi no returns are allowed”
Marco laughed and Melina gave her brother the stink eye.
“I see that you are still as funny as funny as ever, aka not funny at all” she said.
“I am hilarious, you just don’t have a sense of humour” Thalis replied.
“As I told you before, if you are the only one laughing with your joke, it ain’t funny” she said.
“Marco laughed as well” Thalis said.
“I don’t think he did. He is too smart to laugh with that sad attempt of a joke” she said and looked at Marco with her brow raised, while Marco was trying to not laugh.
Two loud squeals interrupted them and they turned to see where they came from. It was Stella and Sissy. Melina run to her friends and they had a group hug, while they jumped up and down.
“Oh my god! I can’t believe you are here” Melina said to her friends.
“Well, we have to thank your gorgeous mafia boss for that” Stella said.
“W-what?” Melina mumbled.
“Oh come on! Greece might not be America, but we do have internet you know. Did you really think that we wouldn’t have searched online for him?” Sissy added.
“Hush, both of you. I haven’t told my parents yet and I am dreading how to do it” Melina said.
“They know” Stella said. “I told them, because I know what a fucking procrastinator you are, so feel free to thank me”
“WHAT???” Melina said horrified. “Why did you tell them?”
“Did you seriously wanted us to be here in the awkward moment that you would tell them and they wouldn’t be able to react accordingly?” Stella replied.
“You and your big mouth” Melina said fuming. “It was not your place to say anything”
“Oh well, what can we do? Do you have a time machine or something? Because I don’t, so suck it up” Stella smirked at her.
“I hate you” Melina said.
“No, you don’t. Deep down you are relieved that you don’t have to do it yourself, but you are too stubborn to admit it” Stella replied.
“Yeah, fine. You are right” Melina eventually said. “Thank you”
They walked back to where Marco and Thalis were and Melina introduced them.
“You definitely look like a mafia boss” Stella said to Marco.
“Stella!” Melina said incredulously.
Marco laughed and he said “You are very perceptive, and I can see that you share the same trait as your friend, and you have no filter”
“Filters are for Instagram” Sissy said. “Just fyi, mafia boss or not, if you hurt our friend, there will not be a hole deep enough for you to hide”
“Another one without a filter” Marco smirked. “It will be interesting to have you all 3 together under the same roof. And don’t worry, I have no intention to hurt your friend. If anything, I will always treat her like a queen” he said and kissed Melina’s temple.
The introductions went better than expected and Melina was very relieved. She introduced Thalis, Stella and Sissy to Matteo as well, who was one of the guards accompanying them.
“Guys this is Matteo. Matteo is my personal guard and my friend as well. Matteo, this is my brother, Thalis and my best friends, Stella and Sissy”
“Very nice to meet you all” Matteo said and Melina noticed that his gaze stayed on Sissy a bit longer. Could it be that she got his attention?
“Why do you need a guard? Tell the truth. He is not actually guarding you from others, he is guarding others from you” Thalis said.
“You are as funny as the kick I am about to give to your balls” Melina replied.
“Relax, I am joking. You are the mafia’s first lady and all, you need protection, we get it” Thalis said and rolled his eyes.
“Just remember that Matteo has a gun and I can ask him to use it” Melina said sweetly to her brother.
Suddenly, a woman’s voice sounded loudly. “MELINA!”
