Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Melina spent the next few days before Halloween being very busy. She was working tirelessly in her business plan, making more progress than she had originally expected. She had asked Harvey to start the process of creating the business. She was very pleased with the name she had chosen, but she was keeping it a secret from everyone. She had even sworn Harvey to secrecy.
Marco kept his word and he had arranged for a Halloween party to take place in one of his night clubs, the Obsidian. Melina had taken care of the costumes and despite the vigorous protests of Alessio, she had also ordered blue body paint, a bald cap and hair extensions for her costume and Alessio’s.
Her and Marco spent hours every day carving the pumpkins they bought. They had so much fun doing it and Melina could not believe that the crime lord, intimidating boyfriend of hers was doing all these things just to make her happy.
She convinced Marco to buy Halloween decorations for the house and despite his initial hesitation, he eventually said yes. Now their front garden had been transformed into a cemetery with zombies, their front door was full of spider webs and their gate had skeletons hanging. Their carved pumpkins have been placed in different spots around the house and Melina had installed a chime at the door, with the sound of a witch’s laugh.
Marco never really felt the appeal of Halloween before, but seeing how much Melina was enjoying it, he allowed himself to be pulled into the “eerie” but festive sentiment. Soon, Halloween arrived, and they spent the day answering the door for trick or treat and Melina handing sweets to every kid that knocked the door.
Later that day, a very grumpy Alessio arrived and follow Melina into her office. All Marco could hear was Alessio complaining and Melina shushing him. A couple of hours later, Alessio exited Melina’s office. All blue, wearing Genie’s clothes. Melina had put a bald cap on his head to hide his hair and she had attached a black hair ponytail.
Marco burst into laughter and even had tears in his eyes. Alessio looked at him and said.
“What are you laughing at? You haven’t seen your costume yet”
Marco’s laugh stuck on his neck and gulped loudly. Melina called his name, and he went to their bedroom. When he saw Melina, she was wearing her costume and she was breathtaking. She looked like princess Jasmine. Like she came out of the fairytale.
“Amore, you look amazing” he managed to say eventually.
“Thank you boo. I have finished dressing Johnny as well” she said.
Marco looked at Johnny that he was wearing a full-on tiger jumpsuit and he was prancing around proudly, close to Melina. Like Raja the tiger was doing in the animated movies.
Melina cleared her throat and Marco looked back at her.
“Your costume is this one” she said and passed him a clothe bag.
He undressed himself and started pulling the costume out of the bag. He pulled a few items out, but kept searching in the bag.
“What are you looking for?” Melina asked.
“Where is the rest?” Marco asked.
“The rest?” Melina asked back.
“Amore, this is not a joke. Where is the rest of the costume?”
“Boo this is the whole costume. White harem pants, purple vest, red fez and even though Aladdin was walking barefoot, a pair of curled toe slippers, to stay on theme” Melina said. “And I got you a stuffed Abhu to attach on your shoulder and Genie’s lamp will be hanged from your waist. The magic carpet is already on our booth at the Obsidian”.
“Amore I can’t wear this. There is barely anything to wear” Marco whined.
“Marco Vega! I asked you to choose and you told me that you would be happy with whatever my choice would be. Are you taking back your word now?” Melina said in a serious tone.
“No, amore” Marco said defeated and he put on his costume.
Once they were both ready, they headed downstairs, where to Marco’s dismay it wasn’t just Alessio waiting. Marco’s parents were there, dressed like Julius Ceasar and Cleopatra, along with Matteo, who was dressed on the same theme as him, Melina and Alessio.
“Matteo is dressed as Razoul, the head guard of the Sultan” Melina whispered to him.
Marco’s mom, Sophia was as excited as Melina about the whole ordeal, but Marco and Luca shared a pained look. They left the house after they took several photos and headed to the night club.
The Halloween party was a great success, sending the profit threw the roof. Marco eventually relaxed and allowed himself to have fun. Mainly he enjoyed to make fun of Alessio, who couldn’t stop complaining.
“Man, my shit is going to be blue for a week after this” he said.
“You can name your turds after the Smurfs if that’s the case” Marco replied.
“It’s not fair man. Why did I have to be the only one in body paint?” Alessio complained again.
“Stop whining. I walk around in a leather skirt, without underwear, because according to my wife that’s the way of the Romans” Luca chimed in.
“I think you all look cute, so stop frowning and enjoy the party” Melina said. “Sophia do you want to go dance?”
“Yes darling, let’s go”
They walked to the dance floor and started dancing, while the men stayed at their seats watching them. Marco saw a group of men dancing close, to look at Melina and his mom. Soon one of them headed towards Melina, said something to her and Melina replied, but turned her back to him.
The man didn’t seem to like what Melina told him, so he decided to not leave and instead he groped Melina’s butt. When Marco saw that he jumped from his seat and raced to the dance floor and where Melina and his mom was. He was seeing all red.
He was a bit surprised by the spectacle. The guy was on the floor with a bloody nose and Melina was rubbing her hand. She had broken his nose. Before he took any further time to feel proud for his girl, he kneeled next to the guy.
“You dared to touch what is mine?” he said in a menacing voice.
“The bitch broke my nose” the guy said.
Marco grabbed the hand he used to touch Melina and with a quick move he broke the guys wrist. The guys screamed in agony. Matteo appeared out of nowhere and dragged the guy out of the club. The commotion had drawn some attention, but when Marco offered free shots to everyone at the bar, everyone forgot about it.
He walked to Melina and took gently her hand. He kissed it and looked her in the eyes.
“My feisty princess”.
