A glimpse of light
Marino's Pov
Marino's mind was racing with thoughts as Tony rushed into the house with crucial information about Marcus the Gandhi. The elusive figure had been spotted in Haverhill, and it was an opportunity Marino couldn't pass up. Marcus was a master of deception and evasion, and getting any lead on him was rare.
"Tony, we can't waste any time," I said firmly. "Book the earliest flight to Haverhill. I need to meet Noah and get more details on Marcus's whereabouts."
Tony nodded, understanding the urgency of the situation. He quickly made the necessary arrangements while I contemplated how to break the news to Isabella. Her safety was my top priority, and I didn't want her worrying about me.
I found Isabella in the kitchen, serving herself dinner. I hesitated for a moment before speaking up. "Isabella, we need to talk. I have to leave for Haverhill tomorrow. It's important."
Her face fell, and concern filled her eyes. "Haverhill? Marino, is everything alright? Is it about Marcus?"
I nodded, taking a seat beside her. "Yes, it's about Marcus. We've received information that he's in Haverhill, and I need to meet a friend, who might have more insights on his whereabouts."
Isabella bit her lip, worry etched on her face. "But Marino, it's dangerous, isn't it? I don't want anything to happen to you."
I gently smiled and said looking into her eyes. "I promise you, Isabella, I'll be careful. Tony will be with me, and we'll have Noah's men backing us up. I won't take any unnecessary risks."
She sighed, leaning into my touch. "Just promise me you'll come back, Marino.
"I promise," I said firmly. "I'll come back to you, no matter what."
The next day, Tony and I left for Haverhill. Isabella saw us off at the airport, her eyes filled with worry and longing. I reassured her once again, holding her close before boarding the plane. Our flight was uneventful, but the tension in the air was palpable. We knew we were walking into a dangerous situation.
Upon arriving in Haverhill, we headed to the hotel where we had arranged to meet Noah. The city felt different from our usual territory, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding.
I called Noah to confirm our meeting, and he gave us a time and location. "Be cautious, Marino," he warned. "Marcus is cunning and dangerous. Don't let your guard down."
"We won't," I assured him. "We've been preparing for this, and we won't back down."
After ending the call, Tony and I went over our plans one last time.
Even though we knew our meeting with Noah might solidify the plan or disannul, we still went ahead to plan just like they say.
Having a plan is better than no plan at all.
