forgiveness and sorrow

******* A month later*******

The day had finally come. Aurora sat in the grand sitting room of Damian's mansion, her baby nestled in her arms. The child let out a soft coo, and Aurora gently rocked her, her thoughts heavy with anticipation. She was about to meet her parents-both of them-together for the first time.

Damian stood by her side, his presence calm but reassuring. Across the room, Raphael leaned casually against the wall, watching over everything. Luna entered quietly, standing nearby to be ready for anything Aurora might need. The tension in the air was thick.

The door opened, and Taylor walked in first, his posture confident but his expression serious. Behind him, Aurora's mother hesitated in the doorway, her gaze cast downward, avoiding everyone's eyes. She looked nothing like the strong woman Aurora had always imagined.

Aurora's grip on her baby tightened instinctively. Damian placed a hand on her shoulder, silently encouraging her.

Taylor stopped a few steps into the room, his sharp eyes scanning the space before landing on Aurora. His gaze softened slightly when he saw her holding the baby. "Aurora," he said, his deep voice breaking the silence.

Aurora's mother stood behind him, her shoulders slumped. She clutched her bag tightly, still unable to meet Aurora's eyes.

Aurora's lips pressed into a thin line as she stared at Taylor. "So," she began, her voice cold and sharp, "you're my father. The one who abandoned me."

Taylor flinched, though he tried to hide it. "Aurora, I-"

She cut him off, her voice rising. "Save it," she said bitterly. "I don't want to hear excuses. You left. You didn't even try."

Her mother shifted uncomfortably, and Aurora's gaze snapped to her. "And you," Aurora said, her tone even colder, "I thought you'd protect me. I thought if anyone would keep me safe, it would be you. But no... you sold me. You sold me to a brothel."

Aurora's words hung heavy in the room. Her mother's head dropped lower, her body trembling slightly. "Aurora, please..." she whispered.

"Don't 'please' me," Aurora said, her voice trembling with anger. "Do you have any idea what I went through? Do you know what it's like to feel completely worthless? To wonder if anyone in the world cares if you live or die?"

Her mother looked like she wanted to sink into the floor. Taylor's jaw tightened, his fists clenching at his sides. Damian and Raphael exchanged a glance but stayed silent, letting Aurora have her moment.

Aurora looked back down at her baby, her expression softening as she stroked the child's cheek. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "But," she said quietly, her voice losing some of its bitterness, "I don't hate you. Either of you."

Both Taylor and her mother looked up in surprise.

"If you hadn't abandoned me," Aurora continued, her tone more measured, "if you hadn't sold me, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have survived to meet Damian. I wouldn't have my daughter. And I wouldn't have found the strength I have now."

Taylor's shoulders relaxed slightly, though his expression remained guarded. Her mother, on the other hand, burst into tears. "Aurora," she sobbed, falling to her knees. "I'm so sorry. I was weak. I didn't know what to do. I... I hated myself for what I did to you."

Aurora looked at her mother, her face a mix of emotions. "I've already been through enough pain," she said softly. "I won't carry hatred for you anymore. But I won't pretend I can forget, either."

Her mother nodded through her tears. "I don't expect you to," she said. "But please, if there's any chance, let me prove to you that I can be better."

Aurora sighed, glancing over at Luna, who had been standing quietly by the side. "Luna," Aurora said gently, "come here."

Luna stepped forward, her movements graceful and calm. Aurora carefully handed the baby to her. "Take care of her for a moment," Aurora said with a soft smile.

Luna cradled the baby, her face lighting up with joy. "Of course, Aurora," she said. She stepped back, rocking the baby gently as Aurora turned back to her parents.

Taylor cleared his throat, drawing Aurora's attention. "I can't change the past," he said, his voice steady. "And I know words won't make up for the years I missed. But I'm here now. And I'll do whatever it takes to earn your trust."

Aurora's eyes narrowed slightly. "Why now?" she asked. "After all these years, why are you suddenly interested in being my father?"

Taylor hesitated before answering. "Because I see what you've become," he said finally. "You're strong, independent, and fearless. You're everything I hoped you would be. And I want to be part of your life-if you'll let me."

Aurora looked at him for a long moment, her expression unreadable. Finally, she nodded. "We'll see," she said simply.

Taylor didn't push further. Instead, he looked over at Luna, who was still holding the baby. "That's my granddaughter," he said quietly. "She's beautiful."

Luna smiled politely, though she stayed a step back. Aurora glanced at Damian, who gave her a reassuring nod.

"We'll talk more," Aurora said to her parents, her voice calm but firm. "But for now, I need time. This isn't something I can figure out overnight."

Her mother wiped her tears, nodding quickly. "Take all the time you need," she said. "I just... thank you for even giving me a chance."

Aurora didn't respond, but she didn't pull away when her mother reached out to touch her hand briefly. Taylor stepped back, his face thoughtful as he looked at Damian.

"Thank you for taking care of her," Taylor said to Damian. "She's stronger than I ever imagined."

Damian's expression didn't soften, but he gave a curt nod. "She's the strongest person I know."

With that, Taylor and Aurora's mother turned to leave, giving Aurora the space she needed. As they walked out, Aurora turned back to Luna, taking her baby back into her arms. She kissed the child's forehead, a small smile playing on her lips.

"Whatever happens," she said softly, "I'll make sure my daughter grows up surrounded by love."

Luna placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, and Damian stepped closer, wrapping an arm around her.
