Cecília

Cecília

I got on the jet not knowing exactly what to expect, I was going with my boss and friend to the lion's den and I liked that. I like to poke jaguars with a short stick.

If it were up to me none of them would have my attention, I'm going to work and I'm not going to look for the past.

A few hours later the jet landed at the airport, and when the door opened my heart skipped a beat.

Dominick is standing waiting for us with his impeccable suit and expressionless face, only until he sees me. As soon as he sets eyes on me, he immediately shows his face of surprise and I freeze without knowing what to do until Andrey comes and takes my hand, giving me peace of mind and confidence.

I break Dominick's gaze and turn to Andrey.

"Thank you," I whisper to him and he smiles.

"I've got your back," he said and took the lead.

We walked to where Dominick was and Andrey normally greeted him.

"Good afternoon Dominick," he said and extended his hand to him. But there was no response, he continued to stare at me. "This is my girlfriend and secretary, Cecília."

Andrey introduced me as his girlfriend and immediately Dominick broke eye contact with me and looked at him. I could finally breathe, his gaze was leaving me lost and embarrassed.

"Welcome to my city, we didn't know that you were coming with your… girlfriend, so we found a room for you in our house, but if you want we can immediately prepare another one," he said dryly and with no emotion in his words.

"Don't worry Dominick where I go she goes, so it's no problem she sleeps with me," he said firmly. Andrey was willing to defend me.

"Great then, we can go home. The quicker we start, the quicker we'll finish and you can go back to your house," said Dominick. From what I knew of Dominick, he was visibly uncomfortable with my presence, but that wasn't my fault, I was here with my boss.

On the way back they started talking about business and I just stayed silent, always looking away from Dominick who was always on me. However, there was a moment when our eyes met, at that moment it was as if nothing bad had happened before. It was as if we were still seeing each other in that bar, without anyone knowing about the shit that was happening to each other. It was difficult but I managed to break eye contact with him again, looking at him brought me feelings that I never wanted to feel again.

It was painful and unsettling, I couldn't live it again, and no matter how strong I was this time I would break.

When we arrived at the mansion it was as if I was experiencing déjà vu, I remembered it from the day I arrived to the day I was kicked out of this house, and without meaning to, a solitary tear ended up running down my face and no matter how quick I was, I was quick. as I wiped it away Dominick saw her and for a few seconds, I saw pity in his eyes. I pushed away that thought and that image and went back to how I was before.

We got out of the car and he took us straight to where we were going to stay. It was one of the biggest rooms in the house, when he finally closed the door I could breathe a sigh of relief.

"Are you well?" Andrey asked.

"No, lots of memories. But will I stay boyfriend, or should I call you love?" I asked being sarcastic.

"I told you I would protect you and the only way no one will come near you is if they know you already have an owner," he said.

I laughed at the situation, it was funny after all this time pretending that my boss was my boyfriend.

"Okay. Come on, I want to see Camille, I miss her so much," I said.

We took a shower and then went downstairs, Andrey had a meeting with Dominick, which I couldn't attend, so I would wait in the living room. Before entering the room, Dominick gave me an intimidating look, but I didn't care either, he couldn't touch me anymore.

I sat on the large sofa, the one most hidden in the room, and waited for about half an hour, then I heard laughter, I knew it was Antônio and Camille who were arriving, I recognized the voices. I was happy to see them again, I just didn't expect what would happen next. I thought about a lot of things, but it had never crossed my mind.
