Chapter 199 Preparation
>>Somi
“I don’t know what they’re doing in that damned forest, but does he really think he’ll survive in a forest?”
“You may never know, darling,” Cyrus said, “He might thrive there.” He sat on the couch, sipping his coffee.
“What are you saying?” I shook my head, “He’s clearly hiding there,” I chewed my lower lip, “But only God knows with how many men.”
“Maybe all of them,” Cyrus replied, his eyes stuck on the News.
“All of them?” I thought about it, “No, that’s impossible. He can’t have all his men in the forest,”
“For all we know,” He finally looked at me, “He might. Azef Greer is known as a formidable man.”
“Oh! How formidable could he be?”
He snickered, “Enough, that you still haven’t realized that he was in the house the previous night, and he could have killed you here without a problem?”
!!!
“What!” I shook my head, “NO!” I looked at Cyrus in disbelief, “That’s impossible.”
“Yes,” He said, “I saw him myself,” He looked back at the news, “Well, I saw him climbing in, I have no idea what he did here though,”
“You’re lying,” I said
“You can check yourself.” He said, “The lock of the second floor guest room is broken.”
My heart rate spiked when I heard that. He was here? And no one knew!? How could this be?!
“Why didn’t you say anything?” I asked, “If you saw him, then you should have said something!”
“I had already left the house.” He replied, “I briefly came back to get something from the guard when I noticed him.” He paused, “I thought I might be wrong or seeing wrong because he was gone in an instant.” He put his cup down on the side table, “But my suspicion was confirmed when I saw the window lock broken.”
Fear loomed over me. Azef was here? But then why didn’t he do anything? He could have killed me here pretty easily but he didn’t. He came to the port instead.
I gulped.
What is he planning? Does he really have all his men in the forest? Is he planning an ambush? No one would expect an army of people living in hiding in a dense forest. He might want to use that against us!
“Should we send in all of our men?” I looked at Cyrus again.
He shrugged, “Why not?” He smiled at me, “While we’re at it, should you and I both go and see his demise?”
“Go? In the forest?”
“You’re scared?” He asked.
“The forest is a big place Cyrus,”
“I’ll be there with you,” His smile didn’t falter, “You already know that I go hunting in the forest a lot. I even camp there.”
“In another country.”
“Forests are the same everywhere.” He changed the channel with the remote, “Well, if you don’t want to go, that’s fine. But I will go.” His smile widened, “I feel like it would be fun.”
“Fun? What do you want to see there that would be ‘fun’?”
He turned his head to look at me, “Total obliteration.” He smirked, “And let’s not forget, you found out where Azef and his men are because of me.”
“We tried to trace the signal.” She said
“Oh, that wouldn’t have worked.” He shut the TV off and put the remote down, “I know my way in the forest, and I want to enjoy something there.” His eyes met mine, “Do you want to come with me or not?”
>>Seraphina
The whole pack was summoned in front of the pack house and I got to see many new faces. There were children, teenagers and adults but no elderly.
“I called you all here to tell you all something important that seems to have caused a misunderstanding.” Azef and I stood at the top of the stairs, on the big open porch, “I should have told everyone about this,” He looked at me, “Seraphina is my mate.”
Everyone quietly looked at him. They all had the look of distrust and unamusement on their faces. I pursed my lips to stop myself from letting out a laugh when I realized what it all meant
No one believed him.
“Then who’s the person in the picture?” They all had an intense gaze on him, “The one you keep in your office?”
“You’ve been visiting a grave too. A grave that belongs to your mate.”
“Beta, please don’t lie to us.”
I bit my lower lip and looked at Azef. Those words are bound to make him angry. I pursed my lips again.
“I can’t believe I thought you all were smart.” Azef mocked them, “For you all idiots, I’ll let you know that the person in the picture is Sarina.” He turned his head to look at me, “Seraphina’s twin sister.”
All the mouths hung open wide and big when they heard the words ‘twin’ and ‘sister’
It immediately made sense to all of them and they actually felt relieved too. The funny part was how all of them let out a collective, “Ohhh~”
“So Miss Sera is your mate given by the Goddess.” They all seemed happy for me and that warmed my heart.
These people really are sweet.
“Yes,” Azef replied, “But before you all start celebrating,” He said, “I have bad news.”
All of them turned serious
“We got an enemy approaching us.”
“Somi Soma?” Runy asked
“Yes,” Azef answered, “She somehow managed to find us. It shouldn’t be possible without the interference of another wolf but someone seemed to have helped her.”
Yea
He told me that even though phone signals work here. They can’t be tracked. I was actually worried that it might be because of my phone call with Eris, but I was so glad that wasn’t the case.
“I want everyone ready.” Azef’s face turned grim, “The thing is, the rules say the werewolf world needs to remain undiscovered by humans, and we certainly can’t be the ones who break that rule.” The pack members nodded, “You know what that means,” He smiled, “Don’t you?”
All the pack members smirked back, “We do,” And I don’t know why, but I felt a chill go down my spine.
“You’re all dismissed,” He said, “Start getting ready. The moment they enter our territory, we make sure nothing goes back.” The member started dispersing while I walked to Azef
“What did you mean by that?” I held his hand and he gripped mine gently.
“By not being the one to break the rules?”
I nodded, “Are you-” If anyone thinks about it. If they’ve found us and the pack. And then they come and attack us here, they’ll know we live here as a community. The rule’s already broken then. Unless, “You’re planning to kill them all?”
“Yes,” He answered without any hesitation and I was filled with dread, “You don’t need to worry about it,” He placed his hand on my cheek, “You and Eris will stay in the pack house.”
I nodded.
“You said, nothing goes back, what do you mean by that?”
“Simply put, we’re going to kill them and then not even their bones will get out of the forest.” His words sent a chill down my spine, “It’s actually good Somi decided to attack us here. She doesn’t know what she’s dealing with and that works to our advantage.”
The wolves started taking patrol duty. The orders were to kill any human that seemed dangerous. Since the packs are situated very deep in the dense forests, a normal human wouldn’t make it this far anyway.
I sat on a chair beside Eris, holding her hand in mine.
She still hasn’t woken up and it’s starting to make me worried. Her vitals are fine and the pack doctor said she’d be fine too.
The knock on the door made me turn my face and look who it was, “Come in,” I said and the door opened.
Oh?
“Hi,” A blonde girl with blue eyes entered the room. She was shorter than me but had a really cute face.
“Oh, hi,” I had a feeling I knew who this was , “You’re calliope, aren’t you?”
“Yes,” She smiled as she walked towards me, “You must be Seraphina,” She sat down on another chair near mine, “That must be Eris.”
“Yes,” I looked at my sister, “She hasn’t woken up yet.” I turned my face back at her, “You were asked to come to the pack in a hurry.”
She let out a chuckle, “It’s fine. I understood the risks. Matthew said I had to be in the pack no matter what!” She’s the Alpha’s mate. Also a human. Ben was sent to bring her back.
“Is the Alpha coming back?” I asked. I heard he had left the country for some business. But when Azef told him about Somi, he said he’d come back right away.
She nodded, “He should be here in a few hours,” She looked out the window. Night was falling, the sun had dipped below the horizon and everyone was on high alert. I looked at Calliope again. It was nice to have another human here. I felt at ease with another of my kind in the same space. And honestly, I also felt better because I finally wasn’t the only one who’d be useless while everyone else in the pack could fight.
“So-” She was about to speak when her words were cut off by the loud howling coming from the forest. One howl turned into two, that doubled, turned into four, and soon the forest was filled with howls.
We looked at each other in horror.
The enemy was here.
