Chapter 185 Run

Chapter 185 Run
>>Eris

Where is he going to take me? Didn’t he ask Sera to come here? Why is he taking me away from here then?
As we reached the end of the hallway, I heard the sound of footsteps behind us. Then Suddenly, a frantic shout pierced the silence. "Stop! Where are you going with my daughter!!!?"
It was my mom's voice, which was full of anger and fear.
The man didn’t stop walking though, instead he picked up his speed while I turned around to look at her. I tried to let go of the man’s hand but he gripped my hand hard. So hard, it hurt.
“Ssss,” I winced in pain but I also saw mom.
“Hey!!!” She came running towards us, her face a mask of fear and anger. The man holding my hand hesitated for a fraction of a second before turning to face her.
"Where are you taking her?" She demanded, her voice trembling with emotion while her eyes were full of anger.
He didn't answer, his grip on my hand tightening even more. My mother reached us, her eyes wide and wild. She grabbed my other hand, pulling me towards her.
"Let her go," She said, her voice low and fierce. "Who the hell are you!?."
The man didn't release me, his eyes locked with hers in a silent standoff. My heart pounded in my chest. All of it felt so out of place, it was making me feel scared.
"She's coming with me," He finally said, his tone unyielding, “Don’t make a fuss, and I won’t kill you.” His voice was low
"Over my dead body," My mother spat, her grip on me tightening. She pulled harder, and for a moment, I was caught between them, their tug-of-war leaving me feeling like a fragile doll.
"Get away from her!" She screamed, her voice echoing through the hallway.
The commotion caused the people around us to look at us. The man looked around, assessing the situation, then released my hand, taking a step back.
I thought he’d leave but he didn’t.
The man moved suddenly, shoving my mother back. She stumbled but didn't fall, but the action did cause her to let me go. Her eyes blazed with fury as she stepped forward and slapped him hard across the face. The sound echoed down the corridor.
"You bastard!!!" she shouted, her voice cracking with emotion.
He responded by grabbing her wrist, twisting it painfully. She cried out, using her free hand to claw at his face. The hallway erupted in chaos as they grappled, their struggle violent and desperate.
I stood frozen, unable to process what was happening. Nurses and doctors, alerted by the commotion, rushed towards us.
"Stop it! Let her go!" one of the nurses yelled, trying to pry the man's hand off my mother.
I stepped back as the people lunged onto the man, trying to get him away from mom. The man was restrained by two orderlies, his face contorted with rage. My mother, her wrist red and swollen, was breathing heavily, her eyes never leaving his.
That didn’t stop the man though, he went into a fit of rage and began to fight off the people trying to keep him down.
I looked at them, then looked towards the main gate.

…

In the far distance
I saw the forest.

“She said she’s in the forest.” I whispered to myself.

I looked at the commotion again.
No one had their eyes on me, so I turned around and ran away.

“You!” He gritted his teeth, wanting to spout the worst thing he could think of, but he probably couldn’t think of a word that would explain his anger.

That’s right
You should feel the rage. This is all your own doing.

The door opened, “Beta,” Another pack member entered the room, “There’s a problem,”

I looked at him, ‘What problem?’ We linked our minds.

‘Miss Seraphina left the pack,’

“What!!?” I stood up from the chair in a panic and stepped towards him, “Raye,” I looked at the other person, “Take care of him,” I looked at Allen, ‘If possible,’ I link my mind with him, ‘Make sure to find out where he put ‘kookie’

Kookie is the name of the doll he stole from me. The doll Sarina gave to me. I’ve kept it with me all these years.

“Yes,” Raye bowed to me

“It’s fine even if you don’t find it.” I said as I left the basement in a hurry.

“Why would she leave the pack!!?” I yelled, “That’s not like her!!” We climbed up the stairs and reached the lounge.

“I don’t know sir,”

“Hell!” I took out my phone and called Runy. I left her in charge of Seraphina’s safety! Why the hell am I hearing that she left then.

“Hello,” Runy picked up

“Why would you let her go!” I demanded an answer as soon as she picked up, “Why am I hearing that Seraphina left the pack?”

“I had no idea she’d pull a stunt like that,” She sighed,

“She left the pack, Runy,” My wolf kept howling in my mind, “The chances of a human surviving in a forest alone are pretty low!”

“I know,” She said, “A search team is already on the outlook.”

“How did you even let this happen?”

“I do apologize, Beta,” Her voice was a little cold, “But it’s your fault!”

“Why is it my fault?”

“Because she found out you were playing with her,”

I paused, “What?” I raised my brows, “What did you say? I’m what?”

“She saw your mate’s picture. The one you keep in your office. She was bound to be heartbroken knowing that you were using as a replacement.”

“Excuse me? What?” I was baffled.

“But other than her, the rest of the pack members are disappointed as well.”

I froze
What the hell!?

Shit,
I shouldn’t have left the picture out in the open

SHIT! SHIT SHIT!!!

“And let’s not forget that everyone here also knows you were going into a rut when you left for the city.”

“WHAT!?!?” That was shocking but then again, it shouldn’t be a surprise. I left in a hurry so no one would notice, but someone might have and then told the others.

“So now everyone is pretty sure you’re out screwing someone else too.”

I cut the call
Then took a deep breath. Putting a hand on my forehead, I massaged my temples.

I can’t believe how fast everything got messed up. I wanted to avoid any sort of misunderstanding so I came here in a hurry, but it all backfired.

The dinging sound of my phone made me look at the screen.

It was a text from Tuilum

‘Miss Sera got a call from her little sister before she left. She was crying for her. Apparently she was in the Central hospital.’

The moment I read the text, my wolf began to act out.

An uneasy knot tightened in my stomach. My wolf was restless too, pacing back and forth in my mind, a wild, agitated presence that refused to be calmed. Its anxiety mirrored mine, amplifying every heartbeat, every fearful thought. My senses were heightened.

Something was wrong. I could feel it deep in my bones, an instinctive certainty.

It was a primal pull, an invisible thread connecting us, now vibrating with urgency and fear.

This feeling
It’s that feeling!

My skin stood up

Seraphina is in danger

>>Eris
The cool breeze hit my hot skin. I didn't know where I was going, only that I needed to get away. I sprinted across the hospital grounds, through the parking lot, and into the dense forest beyond.
I had run for a while but then I got tired. So now I was walking in the place.
The trees loomed tall and dark around me, their branches intertwining to form a canopy that blocked out most of the sunlight. I stumbled over roots and underbrush, my breathing wasn’t normal, maybe because I still had a little bit of fever.
The further I went, the thicker the forest became.
I slowed to a walk, whatever had made me run like crazy felt like it was disappearing, leaving me exhausted and scared. The sounds of the forest were all around me—rustling leaves, distant animal calls, the whisper of the wind through the trees. I had no idea where I was or where I was going.
Every direction looked the same.
“Sera…?” I called out to my sister but in return got no response.
I hugged myself, trying to ward off the chill in my bones. The hospital gown offered little protection against the elements, and I shivered uncontrollably.
I wandered aimlessly, my fear and confusion growing with every step. The forest seemed to close in around me, the trees pressing closer, their branches like skeletal hands reaching out to ensnare me. I stumbled over a fallen log, falling to my knees.
But there was no one there to help me. And when I realized I was all alone, tears started streaming down my face.
"Sera," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Sera, where are you!?"
There was no answer, only the silence of the forest.
I sniffled
Then I cried some more.
After a few minutes, I wiped my tears and I pushed myself to my feet, forcing myself to keep moving.
I have to find Sera
I started walking again, but I had no idea where I was supposed to go.
I was lost, alone, and terrified. The fever burned hot inside me, and it was making me weak. I leaned against a tree, my vision blurring, the world tilting around me. I closed my eyes, sinking to the ground, the forest spinning into darkness.
“Sera…”
