Chapter 155 Between rogues
>>Seraphina
There was a huge mall under construction nearby and Lilac dragged me there. Either it was an off day or the construction was halted for the time being because not a single soul was there besides the two of us.
Lilac let me go as he threw me towards the center of the building. It seemed to be a reception area and was open from two sides, letting an insane amount of light in.
I stopped and looked back at him, “What do you want?”
“I said I wanted to talk.” He folded his arms, “So, we’re going to talk.”
“There’s nothing for us to talk about.” I glared at him, “I’m not giving myself to you!” I can’t believe how many times I have to repeat the same thing over and over again.
“What if I say I’ll let all of your debt go?” He smirked, “Then?”
I narrowed my eyes at him, “Never,” I balled my fists, “Nothing you do or say will make me change my mind.” If that was going to tempt me, I would have let my morals go to shit years ago!
He let out a sigh, “At least think about it,”
“No,” I stood my ground, “You and you men have made my life a living hell!” I pointed at him, “But you’re far worse than them.”
“What did I do?” He shrugged, “I’m offering you a way out of that hell.”
“By what? Sleeping with me?” I was in disbelief. He sure had a thick skull.
“Come on, I’m telling you it’s not that. We can have a relationship.” His words made me want to barf, “I like you,”
“You like me?” I scoffed, “You don’t even know me,” I pointed at myself, “All you know is my face.” Like all the other men who approached me. All of these creeps just want one thing.
To nail a pretty girl.
“And what’s wrong with that?” He shrugged, “Being pretty is a woman’s biggest asset.”
…
Unbelievable. I pursed my lips together in anger. Then let out a light sarcastic scoff,
“And it seems to be my biggest curse.” I looked at him, “It keeps attracting leeches like you, who only know how to make my life worse.”
He clicked his tongue,“Worse?” He didn’t get it, “I’m here to make it better,”
“You can only make it better by leaving me alone and stop giving my father any more money!” I raised my voice slightly, “I’m working so many hours to return the payments. I’m doing all I can! I’m returning the money! Just leave me to it!” I felt anxious, “Please, just please.” I clasped my hands together to beg, “Please, leave me alone,”
Lilac let out a sigh, “Come on,” He started walking towards me, “Give me a chance.” I started stepping backward.
“Stay away from me,” I shook my head at him in anger.
“Sera, listen, come to me and you’ll realize it was the right thing to do.” I could tell he had no intention of stopping.
I glared at him, “Stay away! I already told you, NO!”
“Just give me a chance!” He raised his voice as well.
“No,” I stepped back and began to turn around to make a run for it, “Never!!!” I began to sprint and he came after me, but immediately after I felt a loud thud. Like someone crashed into something solid and hard.
What?? What was that??
I glanced behind me after I crossed into another room, then stopped.
No one was after me.
???
Where did he go?
“Didn’t you hear?” A familiar voice made its way to my ears, “She said, no,”
!!!
AZEF!?!?!
I walked back to where I ran from, crossing the pillars and coming back into the open space, I saw him. Azef, standing on one side with his gaze on someone. I followed his gaze and looked at the pillar on the opposite end.
“Ahhh,” Lilac was thrown next to it, in fact, there was a crack on the raw pillar, “How the hell do you always find us?”
???
How the heck is there a crack on the pillar? Was it there before as well? Because no human could crash into a big ass pillar, crack it and then get up like Lilac is.
“It seems, I was right,” Azef whispered, “Someone was in my house that day, was it you?” He stepped towards Lilac, “Or was it an underling of yours?”
What?
Who was in the house? When?
“What are you talking about?” Lilac brushed the cement dust off of himself. He stood up like he hadn’t gotten much damage. He just straightened his back and cracked his bones.
Azef smiled in return, “Don’t even try playing with me,” He looked at me and gestured to me to come over, “The night it was raining someone was at my house.” He looked back at Lilac while I ran towards Azef, “And I’m sure it was your doing,”
I got to Azef, he opened an arm for me and when I got close to him he pulled me back, hiding me behind him protectively.
My heart immediately warmed at his action.
“Moreover, you ruined good groceries Lilac,”
“Groceries?” He looked at us and I looked back at him by peeking from behind Azef.
Azef raised his hand to show him the grocery bag he had in his other hand. I looked at his other hand.
Oh…
He had put all the things that spilled out back in. My heart felt fuzzy. He must have seen Lilac dragging me away.
“Here,” He passed it to me and I took the bag while still hiding behind him.
“Why are you here?” Lilac asked
“I could ask you the same question.” Azef replied, “What do you want with her?”
Lilac rolled his eyes, “That’s between that woman and me.” He folded his arms.
“Well she clearly rejected you, how about you leave?” They were talking calmly but both of them had an underlying menacing tone.
I held Azef’s shirt from behind but Lilac noticed, “You are the one not needed here,”
Azef let out a short snicker, “I’m sure you’re not blind yet,” He pointed at me, “Can’t you see, she came to me,”
Lilac scoffed, “You seem awfully defensive over that woman,” He eyed his enemy, “Is she your mate?” He paused then passed my boss a nasty smile, “Oh wait, that’s not possible, Your wolf is in a coma, ain’t it,” He mocked Azef, “It’s a miracle how you can still shift.”
Mates?
Shift?
And Coma? His wolf is in a coma?!?! Did he have a pet wolf that’s in a coma?? I have no idea what they’re talking about.
“You all should be glad my wolf isn’t active, even without I can deal with you easily.” Azef was very confident.
“With an almost dead wolf?” Lilac mocked Azef, “You’re just like the name of your pack. It suits you. Misfits.” He pointed at my boss, “You’re definitely a weirdo,”
Pack name?
Why is it giving me weird vibes? Wolf? Pack? What are they werewolves? Why are they talking like that?
Azef wasn’t offended, in fact he just smiled in return, “Why thankyou,”
Lilac rolled his eyes in annoyance, “Look,” He raised his hands, “We’re both rogues, there is no reason for us to fight-”
“Not anymore,” Azef cut him off, “You’re a rogue, not me.” He smirked, “I’m a pack Beta,”
Rogues?
Beta? Is he talking about his title? I’ve heard him being called Beta.
Lilac seemed offended by those words,“Why are you protecting her?”
“She belongs to me,” Azef made a confident statement
“Hah!” Lilac didn’t like the sound of that, “As if, she owes me money, she’s in debt to me,”
“Her father gave her to me as collateral.” Azef smirked, “Which means she belongs to me,”
“As collateral!?” Lilac was in disbelief, “Ah, Allen, that son of a bitch,” He rolled his eyes, “Fine, we can share.”
“I don’t share what’s mine,”
Lilac was pissed, “If she is your collateral, that also means you can only own her if you take her debt too.” He looked at us with a disgusted expression, “But there she is, still paying for everything on her own.”
I bit my lower lip. I’m doing all that because Azef will only keep me till the time my father is found. So why would he pay for my debts? That would be useless for him. A waste of his money.
It’s not like I mean anything to him.
“Since she was given to me as collateral.” He smirked, “I’ll pay off her debt.” He had a haughty expression on, “That’s not a problem for me.”
???
I shot my head at him with wide eyes
What!?!?!?!? Why!?!? Why would he do that?!?! My heart started to beat faster.
NO, NO, NO, NO!!
Don’t let his words get to my head!! Don’t!
I bit my lower lip harder.
Don’t….
My chest felt heavy
But then why… I gulped… Why would he do it?
“Are you serious?” Lilac raised his left brow at us
“Absolutely,” Azef folded his arms, “As a matter of fact, you’ll have your money by tonight.”
!!!
Things couldn’t have gotten any more confusing. And I couldn’t get my eyes off of him.
“Still,” Lilac rubbed his temples, “It doesn’t make any sense,” He shook his head at us, “She shouldn’t mean anything to you.”
“Well, she shouldn’t mean anything to you either,” Azef replied, “She’s not your mate, why go after her?”
“Simply, because I want her.”
“Well, I won’t be handing her over.” Azef smiled but this time his smile was menacing.
Lilac growled
!?!?!?
He growled?? What the fuck?!?! It sounded like an actual wolf growling!!
Then I heard another growling. My eyes went wide. Then I turned to look at Azef. He let out a growl.
I froze, blinked at him in confusion.
What is happening?
It’s not possible for a human to let out such animalistics sounds, is it?!
