Chapter 144 His Broad Back

Chapter 144 His Broad Back
>>Seraphina

Panic surged through as I struggled to break free from his grasp, my mind raced with a thousand frantic thoughts. As Ace's grip tightened around me, his leering face inched closer with every passing second, a surge of fear and revulsion coursed through my veins. I desperately tried to fend off Ace's unwanted advances as I felt disgusted with his breath hot against my skin, I felt a surge of panic rise within me. Every instinct screamed at me to escape, to break free from his grasp and flee into the safety of the night.

To hell with this shit!

With a desperate cry, I summoned every ounce of strength within me and lashed out, driving my foot into his nuts with all the force I could muster.

Ace's eyes went wide and then he doubled over with a grunt of pain, his grip loosening over me as he painfully went to grab his crotch. With a surge of adrenaline, I darted away from him, my heart pounding in my chest.

But my freedom was short-lived. Before I could make it more than a few steps, the other men were upon me, their drunken laughter filling the air as they closed in with predatory intent. It was hard to run in high heels, probably why I couldn't make it far.

Two of the others grabbed me from the back of my coat and threw me against the wall again. With a surge of panic, I fought back with everything I had, swinging wildly at my assailants with fists and feet.

"You are one feisty bitch," Ace was still in pain and stayed in his place, kneeling over while the other two blocked my path.

One of them grabbed my face, squeezing it till the point it hurt, "You ditched us on purpose, didn't you?" He stared at my face, "I saw you punch Ace in the club too." His grip tightened to the point it began to hurt my face.

I glared at them as I threw my heels off and then tried to kick the one squeezing my cheeks but he grabbed my leg with the other hand, stopping it right before I managed to kick his balls.

"Huh," He looked at me with disdain, "Did you think that would work again-" He was still in the middle of speaking when I grabbed the window sill on the wall to support my weight and kicked him with my other leg.

His eyes went wide as well and he let out a horrified scream, but just like Ace, he let me go and I immediately made a run for it.

The two left with un-kicked crotches ran after me.

"Stop right there you bitch!!!"

What's the point of saying that stuff? It's not like I'm actually going to stop. To hell with these men, I'm running. None of it happened in the club, so I'm sure I will be fine.

...

I hope I'll be fine.

"Stop!!" They screamed but I ran barefooted through the streets, letting the rough path cut me but I did my best not to think about it.

The men closed in on me with predatory intent, I could only pray for a miracle to save me from the horrors that awaited in the night. I needed to outrun them and I was pretty positive I could do it too, because they were drunk

But the problem was, I was drunk as well.

I know with the adrenaline running in my body I should have been able to do it, but for some reason, as I ran, my vision started to get foggy, and then suddenly, a very violent spell of dizziness came over me.

Woah!

My world spun and I didn't even realize I was falling till the time I fell to the ground, skidding on the cement pavement.

"HAHA!" One of them laughed, "I was wondering when that drug would work."

???

I had cut my skin in the fall, especially my feet but what caught all of my attention were the words they said as they caught up to me.

Drug?

What drug?

I tried to get up, putting my hands down on the ground to push myself up but the dizziness didn't fade. My hand slipped and I fell again.

"When did you spike her drink?"

"In the middle," The came and crouched in front of me, "When Ace was hogging her all for himself." I raised my head to glare at him but he grabbed my neck, "I don't get why all these pretty bitches play so hard to get."

"Remove your hand," I couldn't even see him properly, my hair was a mess, covering one of my eyes, but I still glared at him.

"Hah," He scoffed at me, "Look at that gaze," His grip on my neck increased, "You're pretty even with that attitude." I managed to sit as I grabbed his hands but whatever he had drugged me with was getting to my head and my body.

It felt like all the energy I had was leaving me.

"Got no strength?" He laughed at me, "Good," He glanced at his partner, "You'll be easier to deal with."

"Hey, let me have her first," His partner said

"Fuck no, I gave her the drug, why should I give her to you?"

"Come on, man,"

Hell no,

I can't let them have me! Absolutely not! I have to get away from here!

But before I could muster the strength to push him away, a sudden movement caught me off guard. With a swift motion, someone grabbed him by the head, wrenching him away from me with surprising force.

???

I didn't even catch that right because out of nowhere, his grip on me was gone and then he was out of sight as well. All I heard was someone falling on the road. I slumped backward in shock, my heart pounding in my chest as I watched in disbelief. The assailant was sent sprawling to the ground, his drunken laughter replaced by cries of pain and confusion.

But I wasn't the only one who didn't catch what happened. The partner of his didn't either. And we both looked at the man who just arrived and threw the man strangling me away.

As I looked up, I saw a figure standing before me, his face obscured by the darkness of the night. But despite the anonymity of his presence, I felt a surge of relief.

"Who the hell are you?" The remaining guy got up to square up and that's when my rescuer moved, having the light from the street light strike his face

AZEF!!?

"Are you okay?" Azef asked me, ignoring the remaining guy, his voice low and comforting as he reached out to help me to my feet.

I put my hand on his without a second thought and he pulled me to my feet.

"Yes..." I couldn't stop staring at his face. Where did he come from? I'm still far from the club, aren't I? I wasn't sure, my mind wasn't working right.

"Hey!" The leftover guy came to punch Azef but unlike the rest of us, Azef was sober. It took him no effort to pull me behind him as he dodged the punch.

!!!

His left hand remained on my waist as he punched the guy back, landing a perfect hit and knocking two of his teeth out as well. He fell to the ground like a dying fish and let out a loud groan.

He tried to get up, but I'm sure his world spun more than mine, and he couldn't manage to get himself up. But, of course, getting away is never easy.

The two I kicked came back, "You!!" They yelled from afar while running towards us, "You wench!!" Ace yelled when they saw me. The guy Azef practically threw on the road stood up as well.

Oh No,

Three of them came over, stumbling like alcoholic addicts, "We should leave," I whispered and Azef half turned his face to look at me.

"No," He replied, "I'll take of this,"

"But,"

"Stay behind me," He said, "I'll keep you safe." His words made my eyes go wide momentarily.

!!!

I was getting delirious, but even then his words made my heart skip a beat. I couldn't doubt his words, not when he was standing up for me like that.

Ace and his friends came over, one of them helping the guy who broke his teeth.

"Who are you?" Ace asked as he approached Azef. Then he squinted his eyes, "Wait, I know you," He came forward and pressed his finger into Azef's chest, "You're the owner of the club."

"The owner?" The other one was shocked, "What are you doing here?"

Azef grabbed Ace's finger, "I take serious measures when it comes to protecting my employees." He glared at them as he broke his finger. Ace screamed in pain while Azef used his other hand to cover his mouth, "Shh, you make too much sound."

I stared at Azef's back. He had broad shoulders and his back completely hid me behind him. It blocked my view of the assailants and I was actually pretty thankful for that.

An unusual urge filled my chest.

"Was it you?" He looked at Ace with disdain, "Who ripped her stockings?"

!!!

I glanced down at my torn tight, then looked at his back again.

He noticed... My heart palpitated in delight.

I wanted to go ahead and hug his back. I don't know why, but somewhere deep in my heart, I felt like it would make me feel safer.

But, ofcourse, I couldn't just do that. I can't just attach my body with another person, especially one who's about to fight.

I felt dizzy and for some reason relaxed as well and I found my consciousness leaving.

"So what if I did?" Ace backed away and tried to punch Azef, but Azef easily dodged and with a swift blow to his legs, he had Ace on the ground, screaming like a little bitch.

"Hey!" His friend stepped up, "Without our money, your club wouldn't work."

Azef smirked at them, "Want to see?"

"See what?"

"That even after you're dead, my club will work just fine," Azef cracked his knuckles as an ominous aura began to emit from him.

"D-dead?"
