Chapter 198 The Death of A Demon

Chapter 198 The Death of A Demon
>>Azef

I wonder who was the girl I pushed down the hill. I lay on the floor, blankly staring at the ceiling.
She looked like Sarina

Maybe it was just someone that looked like her. Maybe it wasn’t even someone who looked like her. I didn’t even look properly and pushed her down. Maybe I was projecting her face on someone…

Or maybe it was a ghost.
Could it really be a ghost? It wouldn’t have fallen down like that if it was a ghost right?

I was so dizzy that day, I was probably hallucinating…

I wonder if I killed the girl I pushed too… She’s probably dead… She started bleeding so much…
I sat up, huddled in a corner and closed my eyes.

I hope that really was a ghost!
Yea

I don’t wanna think about it!

I opened my weary eyes and took a deep breath. Then I looked at the door.

I wish I could kill her too.
I gritted my teeth.

If only
I bit my lower lip

If only someone could kill her. If she dies, I would be free, right?

I grabbed the random item in my room and threw it towards the barred window. It was some random broken objects that lay in the room along with a few broken bowls and plates that my mother brought and threw at me.

Most of them break and they’re just laying here with me.

I grabbed another one and threw it at the window.

It’s barred. If it wasn’t, I would have jumped through it. I could die if I jump, but I don’t I get to be free.

I grabbed another item and threw it on the window. It had no glass, just the wood planks. Maybe if I had normal strength, I could have broken through it. But I’m far too weak.

I hate myself, I hate this place. I hate living but most of all, I hate that woman who’s keeping me alive!

It’s all her fault. She’s a demon. A real one!

My injuries had healed a lot since I’ve been here, but I still feel the pain. My body still hurts

I grabbed another thing and threw it on the window.

I want to get out of here. Somewhere far away… But that feels like it would be a distant dream.
Suddenly, there was a noise, faint but distinct, coming from the window.
!!!
I looked at it, straining to listen. What was that?
It was like someone was tapping on the wooden planks.
???
Then out of nowhere I heard the planks being punched, the old wood protesting as it gave way.
Wait, is someone trying to break in?
Hmmm
I looked away as I lost all interest. It took only a couple of blows before a hole appeared. I watched silently as the figure outside began to rip the planks off, one by one, until finally, light poured into the room.
My eyes adjusted to the light, and I saw him—a boy, older than me, with a determined look on his face. He peered into the room, his eyes scanning the darkness until they landed on me. For a moment, we just stared at each other. I saw his expression change, a mixture of shock and pity crossing his face as he took in my frail appearance.
“A-Azef?” He stuttered, his voice hesitant and unsure. “You’re Azef, right?”
I didn't respond. My eyes were fixed on the open window. He opened it so easily. He just punched and broke through…The boy’s voice was a distant echo, barely registering in my mind.
“Azef?”He called again, stepping inside the room. Dust swirled around him as he moved, and he sneezed. I watched him, unamused and listless, feeling nothing but a deep, hollow emptiness.
It was so easy for him… And all I could do everyday was stare at the window.
“I’m here to help,” He said, crouching down in front of me. He looked into my eyes, searching for a response. “Your name is Azef, right?”
For a long moment, I said nothing. I just stared at him, my eyes empty and lifeless. Finally, I opened my mouth, my voice a hoarse whisper, “If I’m not Azef, you won’t help me?”
The boy looked taken aback. He hadn't expected that response. He hesitated, then spoke with determination, “I will still help you. What do I need to do?”
Oh?
He’ll do it? I stared at him. Will he really do it? I gritted my teeth. Well, let’s see if he can do it.
I raised a trembling finger, pointing at him. He watched me, waiting for my demand.
“Kill my mother,” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
The boy’s eyes widened in shock, his face going pale. He hadn't expected that. I could see the conflict in his eyes,
“Kill your mother?”
“Kill her,” I turned to look at the door, “I want to be free.” I looked back at him. He was looking at my body which was skin and bones at the time.
He pursed his lips, “Did she do this to you?”
“What do you think?” I answered, “It’s only me and her here.” My answer made him ball his fists. The determination in his eyes grew.
“Fine,” He said, “I’ll kill her,” He looked at the door, and then walked towards it. But when he tried to open the door and noticed it was locked. That shocked him but at the same time he got even more angry.
I watched him
In his fury, he pulled the doorknob out, yanking it violently.
!!!
Then he punched through it, breaking the door and creating a big hole, making the lock on the other side completely useless. I was in awe. I looked at his form from bottom to top.
He was strong.
I gulped. But the sound was too loud. It alerted my mother.
“Azef!!!” She yelled my name from downstairs and the boy looked at me, “What was that sound?!?!”
“You are Azef,” He seemed satisfied.
“...” I looked at him, “Yea,”
“I’m Matthew,”
“...”
The sound of furious footsteps made their way to us. I looked down at the broken plate shards, “She’s coming,” I whispered and grabbed one broken part that would work perfectly as a blade, “Kill her with this.” I showed him the piece.
He looked at it and then shook his head.
“No need,” He stepped back, going to stand in the blind spot behind the door.
“What are you going to do?”
He passed me a smile, “I want you to see something.” He showed me his hands as the sound of footsteps grew closer, “I want you to know what you actually are.”
I knitted my eyebrows at him. What is he saying? What I really am?
“Watch,” He said and stepped further back
“Azef!!!!” My mother reached the door, “What the fu” She paused when she saw the broken door, “What…” She was confused. She looked at me, “Did you do this?”
I looked at her with an unamused expression, “You think I can do that?” My voice was soft, I couldn’t talk loudly even if I wanted to, I lacked the energy.
She stepped inside the room, “Then what the fk happened here?!” She was so loud it made my ears ring. I closed my eyes and looked away which seemed to annoy her, “Hey!!!” She stomped towards me when Matthew came out of his hiding spot and grabbed her from behind.
She screamed, “AHHHHH!!!!” I looked at them, “Who the hell are you!!!???” That’s when her eyes caught the broken window, “What the-” She froze in fear.
“Watch,” Matthew said and I watched him.
His hands transformed
!!!
My eyes went wide when I saw claws come out of his skin.
What the hell?
They were sharp, big, and lethal. And as soon as they were out, Matthew clawed Mom’s throat out. She wanted to let out a scream but with an injury of that caliber she couldn’t manage anything.
Blood sprayed out of her neck.
Droplets of it sprayed across my face but I didn’t look away. Matthew let her go and stepped back while she held her neck with both her hands in desperation.
“What-” Her voice wouldn’t come out. The blood streamed down her body. She wobbled towards me, “A-z-ef,” I didn’t move from my place but as she got closer I straightened my legs out.
She tripped on them and fell to the floor with a loud thud.
Blood pooled around her, dying everything red. Her hands were completely covered in red. Her eyes were going blank and she made one last attempt to try and turn her body to look at me.
She managed to get an angle, her eyes met mine and then she reached one of her hands out to me.
Her body jolted like that of a dying fish. I watched her but I felt nothing for her, nothing except a sense of relief.
As her body went limp and the light in her eyes was gone, I felt like something, some sort of burden, had been lifted off my shoulders.

>>Seraphina (Present)

“I was very grateful for Matthew.” He smiled, “He took me with him and he treated me like a brother. Well we are brothers, but he actually treated me like family.”

His past was very heavy. I don’t think mine compares with his. But I’m so glad he’s grown to be such a sturdy and healthy person

“So, Dad stole that doll and you lost it?” I tried to lighten the mood.

He let out a soft snicker, “Yes,” Then he remembered something, “I actually left in my rut because of this.”

“Hmm?”

“We found your dad,” He said, “That’s why I left in a hurry. I wanted to deal with him fast.”

!!!

Oh! This was never about his rut!! “Really?” My eyes went wide.

“Although I haven’t found the doll back yet. I want to ask you something.”

“What?” I looked at him curiously. Another gust of wind made its way in, fluttering the curtain and refreshing the air in the room.

“What do you want to do with your father?”

!!!
It was a question I never thought someone would ask me. What do I want to do with him?
…
For a long while, I believed there was nothing that could be done with him. But I heard of a solution recently.

“I heard if he’s taken off the registry, we won’t have anything to do with him anymore. But the process isn’t easy.”

“I’ll handle it.” Azef said, “You don’t need to worry about it. Just tell me what you want.”

“Well tell him to give back the money he owes to the debt collectors!”

“You don’t have to worry about that. I already paid that off.”

My eyes went further wide, “You did?” I blinked at him in confusion, “Why?”

“Because you’re mine, that means your debt is mine too,” He passed me a smirk and I blushed.

Oh! This sly wolf!!

“So,” He asked again, “How do you want to deal with your father?”
