Chapter 192 Talk it out

Chapter 192 Talk it out
>>Seraphina

“I was there when you were talking to Somi in her house.” He didn’t raise his voice. Neither did he look mad. He was simply… sad, or maybe hurt would be the right word for it.

!!!

So he heard me and how I was going to betray him. Well, not was, I sort of already did

“Then why did you come to me?” I asked

“I was going to come to you even if you were actually going to betray me,” He said, “I will never abandon you.” A wave of emotions crashed over me at his words, overwhelming in its intensity.
Guilt gnawed at my insides, but one of his words bothered me.

“‘Actually’ going to betray you?”

“You sent me a text, telling me it was a trap.”

“Oh,” I looked away, “I’m not that bad of a person. You may have broken my heart, but I still can’t bring you to certain death.” I paused, “But, if you were there, why didn’t you help me then?” He was listening to the conversation but he didn’t help me there. Why? “If you were going to save me, you should have done it while you were in the house.” I got angry and moved towards him, “You wouldn’t have been so hurt there!” I grabbed his face as I stood up with my knees on the ground, “Are you in your sane mind?” I glanced at his head.

The bleeding had stopped and there were no signs of glass shards. Seeing that he seemed to have recovered from that injury made me relax a little.

He passed me a sorrow filled smile while he looked into my eyes with a soft look

“No,” He said, “I was not in my sane mind.”

“What?” I was not expecting him to say that but now that he did, I got worried, “W-what happened?” I turned his face towards me, “What’s wrong?”

“I was losing my mind when I heard you say all those things.” His hands moved, he put them on mine that were cupping his face, “It certainly would have been better if I saved you there, but I began to panic,” He paused, “My wolf began to panic, pretty badly actually, and I needed time to get myself ready.”

It didn’t make sense to me, “Why?” I shook my head, “How?”

“Because my wolf thought you were going to abandon us. It got him in so much anxiety, we ended up getting an anxiety attack.” He let out a sigh as he recalled it, “I had to close the room, sit down and calm myself down before I got up again.”

“... You idiot.” I pursed my lips, “It would have been fine if you didn’t come.”

“You're the idiot,” He said, “Why did you run away from the pack?”

“You're seriously asking me that? After you left in your rut? And everyone knows you met with Xia-Lin there.” Tears brimmed in the corner of my eyes, “And my sister-”

“Wait!” He cut me off, “This sounds bad, but it really isn’t,” He grabbed my shoulders and made me sit down on the grassy ground again.

Tears fell down my cheeks, “How?” I sniffled, “How are you going to explain this?”

“I did leave in my rut and I did meet with Xia-Lin,” I got angry as his words and wanted to push him off me, “But I did not sleep with her,”

“...” I glared at him

“I promise,” He said, “I can’t sleep with her. It’s impossible for me to sleep with her.”

“Impossible?” I eyed him suspiciously, “Then why did you meet her? And in ‘that’ condition.”

“I only got a suppressant from her. It’s an illegal drug that the Chinese mafia distributes. I can’t get it from anywhere else but her,”

My frown lightened a little, “..Okay…” That actually makes sense, “So, that drug was to suppress your rut?”

“Yes,” He nodded

“Okay, and what’s this about your wolf panicking?”

“Didn’t you hear me, I said my wolf panicked when it felt like you would abandon us.”

“Why?” I looked at him in confusion, “What is wrong?”

“What was wrong with me?” He smiled with a slight scoff, “You,”

“What?”

“You are wrong with me,” He said, “This whole time, you were what was wrong with me?”

I frowned, “What’s that supposed to mean?” “What did I do?” I glared at him, “Are you still projecting Sarina on me?”

“Sarina is your twin sister!” He said

“Yea!” I felt my blood pressure rising, “And it's easy to project her on me!”

“No!” He said,

“Yes, we’re twins, were!” I felt angry at myself too, “But she was your mate, not me,” I closed my eyes and looked away in annoyance.

“That’s where you’re wrong.”

???
I raised my head to look at him again, “I’m wrong?” I eyed him, “Was she not your mate?”

“She was,” He answered softly yet his words stung “But, so are you,”

I paused, “What?”

“You were twins,” He said, “Identical twins share the mate-bond.”

I felt my skin stand up, “Liar,” Identical twins share the mate bond? So both of us are his mates? But since she’s dead, I’m the only one left…

That sounds a little far fetched.

“Why would I lie?” He asked, “I’m telling you the truth. You misunderstood the whole situation.”

“I don’t know!” I felt a rush of emotions. So many and so different, I couldn’t comprehend them right, “I-I,” My frown got deeper, “I don’t know…” And my voice got lower. My body slumped as I looked at the ground in confusion.

He let out a deep breath, “Remember when you saw me coughing up blood?” I raised my head and looked up at him, “In the beginning, shortly after we met?” He gave me a nod

I slowly nodded back at him, “Yea…”

“My wolf hated it whenever I was even a little rough with you, so he punished me.”

My eyes grew wide, “What?” Then I knitted my eyebrows together, “Really?”

“I didn’t realize it right away, because my wolf would never talk to me. But after meeting you, it started waking up.”

“What do you mean? Your wolf never talked to you?” I was confused, “It started waking up? What does that mean?” I looked at him with my brows knitted, “Aren’t all werewolves connected with their wolf?”

He nodded, “My case is unique. My wolf went dormant when Sarina died. It actually refused to surface even before developing. We knew only Sarina, so when my wolf saw her dead, he chose to keep himself asleep.”

“Oh,”

“My wolf never talked to me like other wolves do. I never really got a chance to connect with it since it chose to stay in the far corner in my mind. Even after I matured and got my wolf abilities, it would stay asleep.”

“I see.”

“So it took some time for me to recognize you.” He held my hands in his, “And once I did, there was no way I could do anything to bring any sort of harm to you.”

Is that why his behavior changed towards me? Because he recognized me slowly?

“My wolf woke up but the communication between us was lacking. So in the beginning, it was hurting me because I was being rough with you. But I got it after a while. We finally got our mate back, after thinking you were dead this entire time, that’s why there was a delayed response.”

“Say… We met when we were kids too. It’s not like I died then, you just pushed me away. Didn’t you ever think I was alive?”

“I pushed you off the hill because I thought you were a ghost. You looked exactly like Sarina. But later I thought you might have been a random kid, or someone who looked like her.” He paused, “I had a lot of thoughts going through my head after the day we met. I even wondered if I saw Sarina’s face on you just because I missed her.”

“....” I stared at him, “And you confirmed I wasn’t a ghost when you ripped my shirt off back in the apartment?”

“Uhhh, sort of,” He passed me a toothy smile, “That was the point it started making sense to me, about what was happening.”

I nodded as my eyes wandered, “But you went to some other woman when you were in your rut.” I said, “I’m talking about when Xia-Lin came to get you from the house.” I glared at him, “Why did you do that then?”

“I couldn’t just force you to sleep with me. We barely knew each other then. I didn’t want to hurt you!”

“But still, you went to someone else.”

“I didn’t,” He shook his head at me, “Xia-Lin just helped me out of there and I actually passed out when I was in her car.” He moved his head around, “Well, she injected me with the drug I just told you about.”

!!!

“So…” I felt a little shy asking about it, “You didn’t sleep with someone else?”

He shook his head, “That would not be possible. Not after I’ve met you. When wolves meet their mates, all their desires are focused around that mate.”

“Really?”

“It’s impossible, you’re my mate,” He said, “The only one I have,” He smirked sarcastically, “If I did try something that stupid, my wolf would kill me on the spot.” He pointed at his chest, “He’s very possessive for you.”

!!!

Those words made me blush and I looked down as my cheeks flushed.

My heart rate spiked and my pupils seemed to shake as I stared at the grass.

I was his mate all along!!

A mixture of emotions surged through me, each one more intense than the last. Relief was the first. Then came joy—pure, unadulterated joy. The realization that I was truly meant to be with Azef, that our bond was genuine and destined, filled my heart with an elation I had never known

“What are you thinking?” He asked and I slowly raised my head to meet his gaze.

“I’m happy,” I couldn’t stop myself from smiling, “And,” My eyes drooped for a moment, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have run away. I should have waited but, my feelings got so overwhelmed and then-” I froze

“It’s fine-”

“Eris!” I shot my head up with my eyes wide open.

“What?”

“Eris is missing!!”
