Chapter 172 Secret helpers
>>Seraphina
I’m so happy he liked them!
I felt relieved as I walked behind Lila. Azef had such a happy expression on his face that it made me feel happy in return as well.
I wonder if I can make something else that would make him happy?
Lila glanced back at me, snatching my focus.
Come to think of it, why did she come to fetch me?
“What did you want to talk about Lila?” I asked as we neared the kitchen.
“Oh nothing,” She smiled, but her smile looked a little ominous, “We just want to ask you about something.”
“We?” I looked at her suspiciously,
“Yes,” She entered the kitchen, “We,”
I froze the moment I entered the room behind her.
OH! HOLY!
All the pack workers were there, and all of them had their eyes on me.t felt as if I had just walked onto a stage in front of an audience, my heart hammering in my chest. The room fell silent, and I could feel the weight of their gazes,
“W-what’s going on?” I asked as Hoor closed the door behind me, making me shoot my head at her.
“No need to worry,” She smiled at me, “We’re not going to do anything bad to you.”
HUH!??!?!
What kind of statement is that?!?!? What do you mean?!?!
“Miss Sera,” Tuilum came over, “We only want to ask you something.” She came over and grabbed my hand. But everything about this situation was giving me the creeps.
Tuilum dragged me to the center of the kitchen, in a place where I couldn’t escape from. And then she moved aside, leaving me there in the spotlight.
All eyes were on me
“Miss Sera,” Runy stepped ahead, “Everyone has been talking about you.”
“They have?” I answered nervously. What is happening?!? What do they all want?
“And before we all take action, they want something from you.” Runy continued.
Action?
What actions?
What do they want from me?!?? Did I do something wrong?
My heart rate started going up.
Wait, are they all against me liking Azef? No- but wait, they wouldn’t know I like him. Do they? Does this mean they’re all against me being here in the first place? Is that why I’m getting a hostile vibe out of them?
“What could you all possibly want from me?” The lights were dim, making their figures, along with their silhouettes extremely ominous. There was this blood lust oozing out of them, “I don’t think I can give anything to anyone here.”
“Oh, you can,” Lila spoke in her sweet voice, “We just need an answer,”
Sweat beads formed on the back of my neck, “An answer? To what?” I won’t have to make a run for it, would I? Would I be able to run? I mean, they’re all werewolves, I don’t think I can outrun any one of them.
Does Azef know what’s going on?
Their gazes intensified, making my stomach churn.
Lila smiled, “Do you like the Beta romantically?”
….
I froze
…
My brain stopped working for a moment
….
I then gulped, then blinked
“Uh-what?”
“Do you like Beta Azef?”
I blinked at them again, then a blush appeared on my face
!!!!
They all had their eyes on me, eyes full of curiosity.
“Uh-that,” I began to panic. I looked for a way out but I was surrounded, “Um,” The heat reached till my ears.
Did they all notice?
Well, it was a giveaway when I made those cupcakes, wasn’t it? News always travels fast too…
I pursed my lips and looked down in shame.
“There's no need to be shy,” Lila said, her voice gentle but insistent, “Just say ‘yes’ or ‘no’, we’re all just curious.”
I gulped.
Just curious? I don’t think so. Why would you all be oozing bloodlust if you all were curious? I feel as if I lied, I’d get in trouble. Their intense stares felt more like an interrogation than mere curiosity.
I raised my head again, meeting their expectant gazes
I feel like, if I don’t tell them the truth, they might all turn hostile.
I nodded shyly, “Yes…” I whispered as my face grew more red.
But then right the next moment, the hostile environment, the tension, and the haunting feel, all of it disappeared, the room erupted into cheers and applause.
Huh??
I was baffled at the sudden change
What the hell!??! The room was suddenly well lit as well.
What the?! I looked at the lights. Did they purposely not turn them on?
The pack workers who had been staring at me with such intensity now wore wide, approving smiles.
Why the hell are they all so happy?
My mouth opened and closed a few times, unsure how to respond. The tension that had gripped me just moments before had completely dissolved, replaced by a warm, fuzzy feeling. They weren’t mad or hostile—they were genuinely happy.
Lila stepped forward, placing a hand on my shoulder, “Miss Sera,”
“Yes?” I looked at her and so did the others after they stopped celebrating.
“Do your best,” She said.
“Yes?” I was confused, “In what?”
“In making the Beta like you, of course!” Ben said
!!!!
“Wait,” I looked at all of them, “You’re all fine with this?” I asked, feeling overwhelmed.
They all showed me a thumbs up
!?!??
Well, that was weird
I walked outside the packhouse, in the backyard. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the garden. Birds chirped softly from the trees, and the scent of blooming flowers filled the air.
I wasn’t expecting the pack members to be so supportive of me. I thought since I’m a human, they might be against it, but they all like the fact that I’m romantically interested in Azef?
Hmm, maybe they all want him to settle down too, and move on? Get a mate and have a family of his own?
An unknowing smile appeared on his face.
And they’re all supporting me for that?
Hehe
I placed my hands on my cheeks as the happiness was making my skin hot.
Isn’t this like having a family’s approval? So, it’s like they’re telling me they approve of my marriage with Azef right?
Hehehe
Oh wait! No!! What marriage!
I stopped myself. I haven’t even told Azef I like him, how can I jump straight to marriage?!? There’s a lot I need to do before that! I have to win his heart!
I nodded to myself
And I need to think how to get there. I brought my hands down and folded them. Simply making him food can’t win his heart. He already has an awesome chef who cooks for him. I need to think of something that actually works.
I let out a sigh when from the corner of my eye I noticed something
Hmmm?
Lost in my daydreams, I almost didn’t notice the sudden movement inside the pack house. My steps slowed as I saw the pack workers through the windows, their movements quick and agitated. My heart skipped a beat, and the pleasant haze of my thoughts evaporated, replaced by a growing sense of unease.
Wait, why are they running around? Is something going on?
I quickened my pace, heading towards the house. As I approached the back door, I could hear snippets of hurried conversation, the tension palpable even from outside.
“Why is she here?”
“Such bad timing,”
“What if the Beta agrees with her?”
“Why would he do that!?”
“For the pack, of course!!” The pack members were whispering to each other as they all went around.
Pushing the door open, I stepped into the hallway and hurried towards the living room, the uneasy feeling growing stronger with each step.
Something feels wrong. I felt it in my gut.
When I reached the living room, I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Azef was standing in the center of the room, his expression calm and collected. Facing him was a beautiful, tall woman. Her Tan skin and long legs made me look like a supermodel. Plus, she was only a few inches shorter than Azef, making her look good as she stood with him.
But I didn’t like the sight of that. Her hands rested on his chest. Her long, dark hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her eyes were locked onto his with an intensity that made my stomach churn.
The pack workers stood around the room, their agitation clear. Lila’s eyes flicked to me as I entered, her expression one of concern and uncertainty. I felt rooted to the spot, my mind racing to make sense of the scene before me.
Azef’s eyes shifted from the woman to me, and I saw a flash of something in his gaze. The woman, noticing his distraction, turned her head to look at me. Her eyes were sharp, assessing, and for a moment, the room seemed to hold its breath.
“Who is she?” The woman asked, her voice smooth but carrying an edge of challenge.
Azef took a step back, gently removing her hands from his chest. “This is-” He was about to answer, but then paused, “You don’t need to worry about her,” He said, his voice steady but somehow those words seem to hurt me.
I felt strange.
“Well whatever,” The woman folded her arms, “Are you going to marry me Azef?”
My whole world stopped
What?!? What did she just say?
Azef? Marry? Her?!?!
