Ivan

I got to my room and shut the door, then I rested my back against it to take a breath. I just had a morning dose of troublesome Jewel. I smiled at the thought of her. What I calculated was right. I knew she would react the way she did if I didn't give any attention to her, I just had to confirm it.

She likes it when I pay unwavering attention to her but yesterday she hurt me. It wasn't her asking me to leave that made me hurt but the way she said it.

‘Okay. Can you leave?’ Yesterday, she had made it seem like I had tied her to a chair and was forcing her to listen to me.

I didn't wake her up because all her classes for the day had been cancelled, she just didn't know. I thought she should have some more sleep since she slept late while playing the same stupid game on her phone yesterday night.

She had a phone but didn't get to be a part of her class fully before I kidnapped her so I was the one getting all the information concerning her school schedule but I didn't know she now knew what time her classes held.

It immediately occured to me that she was worried about the assignment she had to research about yesterday. If I'm sure that was the most reiterative part of all she said back in the kitchen just earlier.

I kept my laptop on my reading desk and opened the door to go back and let her know that her classes had been cancelled and that submission for her assignment was postponed. She must be worried. I stopped at the hallway before the kitchen and heard her voice. Who was she talking to?

"It's Ivan we are talking of. He hates that I am here with him, probably finds me a burden he has to take care of. I'm sure he was happy when I asked him to leave yesterday." I heard her say and swallowed. Is that what she thought?

"That's enough. I don't want to think of him anymore. He's annoying and bad, mostly bad and mean. He's officially made his meanness top the charts over his annoying self." She didn't stop talking.

"Nah. He can't just let me go. He wants something from dad remember? It's why I'm here in the first place." I looked around where she sat to know if someone had broken in or if she had opened the door for someone whom she was speaking with but no one was there. It was just her sitting on one of the stools alone in the kitchen.

"No. What's the point. Time's past for that now. There's no saving to it and besides Ivan is mad at me. Didn't you hear him? He said he was going to eat me. Who knew he was a cannibal. Gosh."

Cannibal? I laughed when she said that. Did she not understand what I meant with what I said? "Who are you talking to?" I had to ask her now.

"Ivan?" She got started by my question and widened her eyes at me.

"Who are you talking to? You been talking to the air for a while now and I've been watching you from here."

"Uhm. Myself?"

"What?"

"I was talking to myself. How much did you hear me say?"

"A lot." I replied honestly and joined her in the kitchen.

"Well, all I said was the truth." She mumbled when I got closer."You are mean."

"I'm not. Bad I might be but not mean, I am boy mean, Jewel, it's you who misunderstand me most of the times and then you go on and judge me as mean."

"What's the difference between being mean and being bad, it's all the same thing. You are both mean and bad." She folded her arms against her chest.

"I chose to be bad, but I am not mean, at least not to you."

"Do you want me to list all the times you've been super mean to me? Shall we start with this morning?"

"Jewel, I..." I was going to explain why I hadn't woken her up early but she didn't let me go further with my words.

"You what? You let me sleep till it's as late as ten thirty and I get to the kitchen and there's no breakfast. You didn't wake me up, and you didn't make breakfast and thanks to all of that and you, I am not in school right now with my mates. I am not in school to submit my assignment, thanks to you, bravo." She started to clap after she said all of that without stopping to breathe.

"So if I am not mistaken, the problem is me not waking you up and not making breakfast for you?"

"Yes; and my assignment too." She crossed her seated legs and I couldn't help but smile at the arrogance she was exhibiting.

"Spoilt brat." I told her and saw her face quickly flare up.

"What did you just call me?" She asked in an angry voice.

"A spoilt brat, that is what I just called you and that is evidently what you are. Prove me wrong."

"You..." She gritted her teeth and looked away from me without any other word leaving her lips, her beautiful lips.

"You don't have lectures today. They were all cancelled." She looked back at me when I informed her."The assignment submission had been postponed but a specific date hasn't been given yet. I saw that on your department's platform last night after you asked me to leave, it's why I didn't wake you up. I thought you would be grateful that I didn't disturb your sleep."

"Like you care if I get enough sleep or not." She huffed.

"I do." I really did.

"You are mad about me asking you to leave the room last night, aren't you?" She smirked.

"No." I replied the truth. I wasn't mad about it, I just felt unusually hurt.

"Liar. Why did you bring it up just now then? Tell me, did it keep you up all night? Was it what made you plan all this? I'm not stupid Ivan, there's no way they cancelled classes today, the professor was very stern with her warning about the submission of the assignment yesterday."

"So you think I'm lying to you?" She was making me feel strange right now. It was alien for me to feel hurt when she said things like that.

"I don't know, you could be lying." She replied bluntly. She was right though, I turned in bed all night because I couldn't stop thinking about what wrong I did for her to ask me to leave like that last night but I surely wasn't lying about her classes being cancelled.

"Well, I am not lying. If I didn't want you going to school, I could have you chained you to the bed in your room." I let her know.  Did she not trust me to think that I would try and stop her from going to school.

"How does it feel?" She asked and I looked up at her to know what she meant with that question."How does it feel to know that someone doesn't trust you even if you've showed them that you deserve their trust?"
