Emilia

I went for a walked along the river and then around the house, I’ve never walked around Antonio’s house before and I really loved it, it really reminded me of the houses in Sicilly, I was very glad we are not demolishing his house, this house is the one I fell in love with them and we’re I feel safe, I really hope the other house will have the same feeling to it as Antonio’s house, when I came back around the front Luca was waiting for me. I needed to talk to him about the extra work I wanted to give him. “You feeling better?” Luca asked. “Yes, the fresh air did me good.” “You want to take a seat and tell me why I’m in trouble.” I took a seat and actually took his hand in mine, “You not in trouble Luca, in fact I’m so impress with you I want to make you a job offer.” He got up so quickly, the chair fell over. “A job offer? But I have a job.” “I know. Let me put it differently I want to add to what you are doing now and give you money for it.” “Okay what is it and is boss okay with it?” Antonio walked out on the right time because he overheard what Luca asked me. He slapped Luca on the back and said “Yes your boss is okay with it as long as you can do both without slacking on Emilia’s safety.” “Emilia’s safety is my top priority boss.” Antonio came to sit next to me and took my hand in his. “I want to know if you will help Isabella with the deliveries of the money. Let’s face it I’m way to tired to do that and I don’t want to put the baby’s life in any unnecessary danger.” “So, all you want me to do is deliver the money to the places I did yesterday?” “Yes, I will still see the clients and find out what they want and maybe if the meetings are in the evening for the exchange of the firearms or whatever they need you can do that to. I will double your salary.” The look on Luca’s face was comical, clearly he was getting a hefty salary already, maybe I should have checked that first with Antonio but here we are. “If it’s okay with boss yes I will do it anything to keep you and the little bambino safe.” “It’s really okay with me.” Antonio assured him laughing. “Well then yes Emilia thank you very much for trusting me.” “Luca, I trust you with my life every day why wouldn’t I trust you with my business?” He didn’t answer me at all he just smiled. “Well sweetheart if that is all dinner is ready.” “Yes, let’s go eat.”

Antonio and I went to sit in the kitchen, which meant he had something to discuss with me, the dinning room was reserved for formal dinners and mostly not business talk but there was an exception made today because I was working from the dinning room. Lena dished us some Alfredo pasta, Antonio had a glass of red wine and I had a coke zero yet again and it was ice cold just the way I wanted it. I took a bite of the food and moaned because it tasted just like my mom used to made it. When I took the third bite Antonio started “We need to talk sweetheart.”

I didn’t want to tell Emilia how Dante was feeling or how conflicted he was but I didn’t want to hide anything from her I was debating it in my office when Dante left and decided it will be better to talk to her and tell her what was going on than let her be blindsided. So, when we ate, I brought up the fact that we should talk. “What’s wrong? I take it it has something to do with Dante?” She was so perceptive I wished Dante could be. “Yes, sweetheart it is, I was debating with myself if I even should tell you but I just can’t let you get blindsided.” “Spill it.” She said but there were already tears in her eyes, she already knew what I was about to say. I moved my plate and glass of wine to next to her and moved to sit next to her. I took her hand in mine “Dante is very conflicted about everything sweetheart.” “I got that from what he said today. But he was so happy about the pregnancy.” “He still is but the thing with the twins is hard, but harder for him than for me I will give up everything except the gallery to be with you and even if I have to, I’ll give up that to. The only reason why I will fight for it is because how hard you worked to get it. I can start from scratch I have no problem with that I mean with your contacts and my devious brain I’m sure we will make a fucking strong ‘Power couple’ but Dante is struggling with letting go of everything he has build it’s not that he doesn’t love you or anything his just a bit more apprehensive. If that is the word I can use.” I tear was slipping down her cheek which I wiped away. “I do love you Antonio don’t see my tears as a fact that I don’t love you or that I will be upset that it will just be the two of us.” “Yes but?” “But I’m so use to the two of you and I really love Dante to and I will be heart broken if he ends things with us, but at the end of the day I do understand where his coming from as well. I don’t know if I will be able to give up my business just because I worked so hard for it.” “So, you wouldn’t give your business up for us?” “No, I won’t give it up for the 2 of you but I will give it up for you.” I could see the shock on her face when she said it. “Really you will give it up for me?”
