Fifty five

ERICA'S POV

When it was evening time, I arrived at the restaurant, which was the location for my reunion date. I was meeting with my close friends from college.

I adjusted my gown that had become slightly rumbled and then walked into the restaurant, while flipping my hair around. The restaurant was exquisite and rather expensive than I had thought it would be, but then, I couldn't protest it, as I was there already.

My eyes darted around in search of any of my friends, but there was no one.

"I thought they agreed for us to meet here? Where are they then? Why aren't any of them here yet?"

I rolled my eyes in annoyance, trying hard to control the anger that was slowly building in me.

"Ericaaa!!" Someone yelled just at that moment, causing me to move my head around in search of who it was.

"Wow! So there they are!" I said in disbelief as I walked to where they were.

They were sitting at a corner of the restaurant so it wasn't easy for me to see any of them on time. There were three of them excluding myself making us four. And we were all dressed in the latest fashion and style.

"Thank goodness I didn't dress as shabbily as I wanted to. I would have been so embarrassed," I thought within myself as I approached them.

"Hey guys!" I beamed and waved at them. I was really delighted to see them again.

"Sara! How are you doing?" Priscilla stood up and iimmediately pulled me into a warm embrace.

"I'm good. What about you?" I asked, as I patted Priscilla's back..

"Good to see you again!",

"I missed you." My two friends Danielle and Bella joined us, and we all laughed lightly.

After our greetings, we all took our seat and ordered what we wanted. We talked about our thesis progress and shared some updates about our lives to each other. It was a serene dinner filled with laughter.

After our normal talk, they all talked about their love lives, each with a sweet smile on their face. It seemed they found the right person, and it was even very obvious. I noticed this and smiled, feeling happy for my friends. Love is a beautiful thing.

The three of them noticed I was quiet and didn't contribute to what they were saying, so they decided to ask me if I had a new date, since they all knew Caleb was my ex.

" Do you have another man in your life Erica?"

"No!" Hearing the question, I denied while shaking my head negatively as I patted my chest. I almost choked out just now.

Immediately someone said that, someone unexpectedely appeared behind me, looking exceptionally charming.

"Sorry for being late ladies, had to deal with somethings," Kyle cleared his throat and apologized to my three friends with a cool face.

He grinned and looked at me, while I appeared as if I had just seen a ghost. I was really stunned to see Kyle, and my face instantly paled.

What was he doing here?!

He noticed my shocked expression, but he said nothing on that. He enjoyed that look. He knew I wasn't expecting him, but he only decided to surprise me.

Cool right?

Kyle moved close to me, and put his arm around my neck with a proud smile.

"l am Erica's boyfriend." He grinned more, confidently declaring who he was to me.

My jaw dropped to the ground, and I squeezed my face, cursing Kyle in my heart. He had just ruined my dinner date with my friends. This was totally not cool!

I wanted to say a lot of things, but realized it wouldn't be proper to lash out at him in this kind of place, especially in front of my friends. That would be considered absurd.

"Oh, please take a seat, " Bella offered with a smile and pointed to a seat beside me.

"Nice to meet you." Priscilla stretched her hand, requesting for a handshake.

Kyle took her hand and shook it calmly, before he took his seat and muttered a thank you.

"So, what's your name if I may ask?" Danielle asked with a polite tone.

"Kyle Caruso," he responded immediately, his hand still on my neck..

I didn't say anything and watched this with a displeased face. My friends asked Kyle more questions, which he answered them perfectly, but it seemed the questions were endless with the way I was seeing it.

I pressed my lips together and sneered inwardly. I wasn't comfortable at all. But my friends were astonished with Kyle's handsomeness and charm. They admired him and gazed at him with wonder.

"Erica!! "Oh my! How dare you try to keep your boyfriend from all of us by telling us you don't have a date..." they chorused in sync with their eyes fixed on me. I felt really embarrassed and couldn't say a word in response to them.

"It's not what you think guys. It's just that Erica is a rather shy person," Kyle said in my defense and went on gesting with them like they had known each other for the longest time ever. They in response went on asking him various questions that had lingered on their minds for the longest while.

"Erica dear, you didn't tell us you were hiding such a handsome man? You must love him so much, to the extent you didn't want any girl to fall for him." My friends teased me, and one of them winked at me, while the others laughed lightly.

Hearing this, my stomach twisted, and she instantly felt unease. I didn't like this. What do they mean? I couldn't help but ask myself that.

"Guys, if you don't mind we'll have to take our leave now. We have to be elsewhere in the next half hour. We are sorry" I muttered as I pulled Kyle up to his feet. He was quite hesitant to go but I wasn't going to give in to his antics.
