Chapter 86 Threat!

Chapter 86 Threat!
|| Author POV ||

“Then I’ll have to do it my way.” Killian murmured darkly.

Rosa’s teary eyes widened the moment she felt him shift. Panic surged through her.

“I-I’m s-sorry.” she stammered and quickly turned back to the food. She was desperate to stop him from getting rough.

Rosa’s fingers tightened around the spoon. With a shaky hand, she scooped up the smoothie and shoved it into her mouth.

Rosa shivered when Killian’s finger traced slowly over her clothed skin. Her grip on the spoon tightened and she bit her lip, forcing herself to swallow the thick liquid down her throat.

Rosa forced down a few spoonfuls, each one heavier than the last. The guilt was clawing at her, eating in the house of a criminal, sitting on his lap like this?

Her stomach twisted.

Then a sudden thought struck her.

Rosa sniffled tremblingly. “M-Max’s hands were b-broken–”

She took a shaky breath while lowering her eyes in fear “Was it y-you who did that?”

Silence fell heavy around them until she heard a low humourless chuckle. Killian spun Rosa around and yanked her head back, pulling her face close to his.

“Took you long enough to figure it out.” he replied coolly.

Rosa froze, noticing the way his eyes darkened “How could you expect me to stay calm when he put his hands on what’s mine? That little brat had to be taught a lesson.”

Rosa’s teeth clattered, her breath caught as she stared into those terrifying eyes, ones that once felt like home but now promised nothing but danger.

Killian exhaled slowly. “I spared him, bunny. Because I don’t kill innocent people but he deserved a severe death for touching you. I was merciful.” he murmured, tilting his head close to hers.

He doesn’t kill innocent humans? He wants her to believe that? He was a ruthless liar. He always had been a liar!

“Yo-you have n-no rights to hurt him.” her pain spilled out and something in her words snapped inside Killian. His eyes darkened ferally, locked on her with an animalistic intensity.

“Hah—!”

Rosa cried out when Killian suddenly pulled her up. In a blur, he stood and her body landed on the glass table.

Rosalie flinched the moment a loud crash echoed through the room. Her eyes darted to the floor. The smoothie bowl lay in shattered pieces, glass glinting like tiny blades across the floor.

Her eyes trembled, locked onto the shattered glass below, shattered by him, just like her.

Then his rough hand clamped around her jaw, yanking her focus back to him. Her gaze filled with fear, staring into those dark furious eyes.

Yes... this is what she failed to see before. She hadn’t seen the monster hiding beneath his skin.

Her throat tightened when his fingers slid up, gripping her cheeks cruelly.

“What did you just say?” Killian growled.

Rosa immediately regretted asking that question.

Tears welled in her eyes, threatening to fall but she couldn’t look away. She squeezed her eyes shut. Her trembling hand slowly rose to grasp his.

His voice dropped to coldness. “You care about him?”

His eyes locked onto her trembling lips. “You belong to me. Why! Why the fuck would you say that?” Killian’s gaze swept over her shaking form. The sight of her fear only darkened his stare.

“Fucking answer me!”

Rosa shook her head frantically. Her trembling fingers grasped at his hand, trying to push him away. Her chest ached.

His grip on her cheek loosened but only for a moment, his hand slid behind her back before yanking her against his chest. Rosa’s legs dangled in the air. She felt small. Powerless.

“LOOK. AT. ME!” Killian growled each word like a command.

Rosa clutched her dress and slowly opened her round tear-filled eyes.

Her heart pounded at the thought what would he do if he found out Max had confessed his love to her?

“You were worried about him?”

His voice was low but his eyes, those eyes felt like they were piercing straight through her soul. Rosa started shaking her head frantically, wide-eyed with fear.

His hand cradled her head again, too gentle, too controlled. “I’ve been thinking–”

“Max Hargrave, that clingy little bastard.” His voice dripped with disgust. “I hate the way his eyes light up when he looks at you, like you’re something he can have!” Rosa flinched.

Killian’s eyes sharpened even more, filled with suspicion. “You sure he didn’t try to talk to you after prom night?”

Rosa’s limbs quaked violently. Killian didn’t just look angry, he looked possessed.

Her eyes darted around, desperately searching for an escape. Lying felt like a dangerous sin now, one she couldn’t afford.

She wasn’t like him. She didn’t care because Max was a boy. She cared because Max was a human. And he can’t kill anyone he wants just because he’s a mafia!

With trembling hands, Rosa slowly tried to push him away but that only enraged Killian more. Her attempt to distance herself ignited something darker in him.

His arm wrapped tightly around her back, pulling her flush against his chest. His deep blue eyes flickered with something cold and then slowly, he cradled her face in his hand like she was something fragile and something he owned.

Like she was a doll.

“I thought I didn’t want to kill an innocent human–” he began with an eerily calm voice.

“S-stop lying.” she whispered brokenly. “I don’t... t-trust you.”

The words barely left her lips before tears poured from her eyes and Killian’s face hardened.

“Good.” he spat. “Then watch what I do to those you do trust.” his eyes turned cold.

“I was trying to be merciful–” Killian rasped venomously. “But maybe mercy is wasted on insects. Let’s see how long he lives now!”

Rosa’s heart stopped. Her eyes widened in horror when he let her go and turned away, walking away with deadly purpose.

“No!” Rosa cried out, scrambling off the table.

Her legs were weak, barely holding her up but she stumbled after him. “D-don’t kill him! Please! D-don’t h-hurt him.”

Panic floated like ice in her veins. He was really going to do it.

“St-stop...please!” Rosa begged, chasing after him as he walked out of the dining room.

She couldn’t let someone die because of her.

How could he be this cruel? Her mind screamed in agony. The fear, the helplessness. It was too much. This wasn’t her world. She couldn’t survive in it. It hurts so bad.

Wiping her tears, Rosa realized, he wasn’t going to stop. He was really going to kill an innocent human.

“Please don’t hurt him. I told him I had a boyfriend!” Rosa cried out in panic.

Her fingers reached out, gripping his sleeve desperately.

She didn’t know when she would die by his hand but right now, she couldn’t let Max die. Her soul trembled when Killian came to a sudden stop. A heavy silence followed.

Rosalie sniffled, eyes locking onto his hand. Killian’s fist clenched so tight his knuckles turned white.

Her chest thumped violently with fear. When Killian slowly turned back to face her, Rosa’s fingers slipped from his sleeve and she instinctively stepped back.

“So, I was right!” he spat sharp, “You did have a conversation with him?”

Rosa’s body froze. “What did that bastard say?” he asked, tilting his head and stepped closer.

Killian’s gaze burned into her, watching her every twitch. The way her teeth clattered with fear. Her eyes darted around like prey.

“Answer me!” he snapped.

“N-nothing!” Rosa blurted in panic. She could barely breathe.

“Nothing?” Killian echoed deeply. Rosa frantically shook her head, backing away step by trembling step until the monster before her closed the distance with one long stride.

“Don’t t-touch me!” Rosa cried out. But it was too late.

Killian grabbed her and lifted her off the ground in one swift motion. Rosa’s feet dangled. Her legs kicked helplessly in the air and her heart pounded like it might burst.

“I’d rather break you myself than let another man breathe near you!”
