Chapter 81 Trapped!
|| Author POV ||
Rosalie peeked out of the window. She could see the security guards standing by the gate firmly, alert as usual.
Her lips pressed inward as she scanned the surroundings. She locked the door so that he couldn’t come in. She doesn’t want to be close to a cruel man. Even if it hurts her, she’ll bear it than to stay close with a bloody criminal.
Her gaze dropped to the ground below. It was too high. Jumping wasn’t an option unless she wanted to break her bones.
A wave of helplessness washed over her. Rosa felt awful. Trapped.
Her heart ached and body felt too delicate to carry this much pain. She didn’t know what to do anymore. No one was coming. Nothing would change.
Rosa turned away from the window and slowly dragged a chair close to it. Sitting quietly, she leaned her head against the cool frame, knees tucked up while eyes staring at the empty sky.
The silence only made the tears fall harder.
She remembered the first time he touched her.
How cold he used to be in class, scolding her sharply, making her stand for being late. And yet, how her heart would still race the moment he walked into the room. Her innocent heart was so happy about everything. He had taken responsibility for her. Given her shelter. Claimed her like she was his.
And then, he broke her in a cruel way.
Rosa never imagined her life would twist into something like this.
She remembered Aria’s words ‘Mafias are dangerous. Never cross paths with one.’ Yet here she was. Entangled with one so deeply, without even knowing.
What about her study? What about her life? Is she going to die just like this?
‘God is so cruel.’
‘To me.’
Her fingers traced slow circles on the window frame, “Momma.. are you watching me?” She swallowed the lump in her throat. “Would you h-hate me.. for what I’ve done? For who I gave my heart to? Someone..who’s a part of your death?” A shaky sniffle left her lips, her voice growing smaller. “I didn’t know, momma.. trust me..I d-didn’t know..”
“I l-loved him.” Her chest tightened as she whispered the words she hated herself for “I-i st-still love him.” She paused, sniffling. “Will I ever be forgiven for the sin I’ve committed? Please... Papa..please forgive me. Because God won’t.”
Silent tears streamed down her cheeks “I-if i die.. i can l-live with you, right papa?”
Her body jolted with a sharp flinch the moment she heard the faint click of the door handle.
Rosa turned her head slowly. She closed the door. He can’t get in, right? But still her heartbeat betrayed her.
She’s scared he’ll hurt her again. Hurt her emotionally and break her to the last sanity.
Rosa stood up immediately. She couldn’t stop the tremble in her legs when the soft click of the lock echoed across the room. Her breath hitched.
No!
Her wide eyes locked onto the door frozen, and it creaked open inch by inch, slicing through her nerves like a knife. She had locked it. But he still got in.
Panic flared in her chest as Killian stepped inside like the predator he was. Rosa stumbled backward without thinking, retreating until her spine met the cold windowpane.
How foolish of her to think she was ever safe. She was in his house. His cage. His world. The devil doesn’t knock, he enters when he wants.
Rosa couldn’t lift her eyes to meet his. Couldn’t breathe.
Warm streaks of fear sliding down her cheeks. Her timid eyes trailed after his tall figure while he walked wordlessly to the bed, setting a tray down with eerie calm.
The moment Killian turned to face her, Rosa’s gaze snapped up and she heard a little breaking sound of her heart.
That face.
That man.
She used to crave his touch, his presence, his love. She gave him all of her, body, mind, soul, everything she had left. She didn’t have anything else to offer.
Now, all she could see was a devil wrapped in the skin of someone she once loved. A heartless man.
Her chest tightened painfully. Her hands trembled at her sides when he took slow steps toward her.
“Aren’t my little bunny hungry?” Killian asked in a deceptively dark and sickeningly sweet voice.
Rosa flinched. Her legs shifted back, searching for space that didn’t exist. She wanted to disappear. To vanish into the walls, to melt into air, to be anywhere but under his gaze.
She helplessly stared at the locked door. Where could she go? There was no escape.
Tears stained her cheeks and she wiped them with the back of her shaking hand. Killian’s dark figure moved closer.
Rosa shook her head desperately, backing away, lifting her trembling hands in denial. “N-no.”
But his rough hand caught her wrist. She froze. A cold shiver ran down her spine as he towered over her.
“You’re starving.” he said quietly, his hand rising to her face. His thumb brushed her damp cheek.
Rosa flinched at the contact. She didn’t want his touch.
She turned her face away from him, avoiding his eyes. But Killian didn’t let her. His grip hardened, firm fingers gripping her jaw, forcing her to face him.
Still, Rosa resisted, clenching her eyes shut, refusing to see the monster she once called love.
“Hik!” A choked hiccup escaped her lips when he finally pulled her roughly against him.
“You need to eat.” he said.
But Rosa didn’t want to. Her stomach twisted in knots, not from hunger but from dread. How could she eat, knowing the hands that fed her were soaked in blood? She didn’t know whose life paid for the meal on that tray.
She didn’t want anything born of his sins. She had committed a big sin already. She wanted to say that out loud but fear stopped her from doing so.
Rosa tried to shake her head even in his tight grip. Killian’s cold gaze hardened as his piercing blue eyes bore into her lilac ones, demanding submission, control, anything to pull her back under him.
“Think twice before disobeying me, rabbit. I hate disobedience!” he murmured darkly.
His fingers pressed tighter against her cheek, puffing her lips, as if to erase even her silence. He could see it in her eyes, she still hadn’t accepted the truth. She was breaking. But not fast enough.
And he had no choice now.
She was starving. And he’d rather force her to eat than watch her wither away.
Because she was his.
And she wasn’t allowed to fall apart without his permission.
Rosa’s shaky eyes flicked back and forth between his, silently pleading, begging him to stop, to soften, to be the man she once thought he was. But the man before her only stared, drinking in her fear like it was the sweetest thing he’d ever seen.
Rosa subconsciously tucked her bottom lip inside, trying to hide the quiver.
He noticed.
A dark chuckle rumbled from his chest. “You think–” he murmured, tilting his head, “tucking your lips in will stop me from kissing them?”
His voice was poisonous with intent and his sinister smirk made her breath catch. Killian leaned in and Rosa bit down hard on her lip as an unconscious attempt to protect herself.
The kiss she used to crave, the one that once made her heart flutter, now made her insides twist in fear. Because he never stopped until she was breathless. Until she forgot who she was.
“P-pleas-please.” her hands rose to held his.
“Don’t be scared, rabbit.” Killian whispered, brushing a tear from Rosa’s cheek with the back of his knuckle. “I won’t hurt you.”
Rosa blinked, trying to hold back the flood in her eyes. Because even when he claimed not to hurt her, he always did.
“You’re not allowed to starve. Don’t–”
Killian paused. His phone buzzed. He clicked his tongue in annoyance and stepped back, pulling it out from the pocket. His arms still caged her in, as he answered the call with a low hum, staring blankly out the window, listening to his men.
“Alright. Inform them I’m coming.” he said coldly, then ended the call.
His gaze slowly drifted back to the red rimmed eyed girl before him.
Killian lowered himself slightly, fingers lifting her chin with chilling gentleness. “I need to go, bunny.” he murmured. “And when I return, I expect that plate to be empty.”
His voice wasn’t raised but it didn’t need to be. It was deep, firm and coated with command. The kind of voice that left no room for defiance.nHis eyes stuck on her lips.
“Don’t make me regret being gentle with you. Be a good girl.”
Then he stood straight, tapped her lips and gave her one last look and walked away, leaving her in silence with only her breath and fear to keep her company.
Rosa’s legs gave out beneath her the moment the door shut with a sharp click.
She collapsed to the floor. Her back hit the cold wall and her body crumpled in defeat. Her sobs broke loose, spilling into the silent room. She pulled her knees tightly to her chest, curling in on herself like a frightened child.
“Please..” her voice cracked as she whispered through her tears, “Please let me go...”
But only silence answered her. And it was the kind that suffocated cruelly and mockingly. Rosa hugged herself tighter.
She didn’t know where to go, only that she couldn’t stay here with a man who rules a world of blood and crime. A monster in a suit. A mafia king.
And worst? Someone whom she can’t even trust anymore.
Someone who has used her. Lied to her to an extent. Also a part of her being all alone in this cruel world. And now, deep down, a bitter truth clawed at her heart:
Once he’s bored of her–he’ll either throw her away like trash. Or kill her without a blink.
This life wasn’t meant for someone like her. And this place would eat her alive with fear and guilt.
