Chapter 94 CHAPTER 94: PUBLIC CLAIM

Chapter 94 CHAPTER 94: PUBLIC CLAIM

~ Elara ~

Today was the last day of school.

The last day of my senior year.

If someone told me what would happen this year, I would've probably laughed at them.

School was weird today, especially since Charlotte and Wayne had been closer than I'd thought they were. Not only that, Calvin and Wayne were talking of all people. It was the only thing everyone was talking about at school, all day.

That, and Wayne getting a scholarship to play football at U of M. Apparently he already decided, and completely committed to the school.

I wanted to congratulate him, and I did attempt, but it didn't work out too well.

He smiled at me this morning after I'd congratulated him, other than that he hadn't spoken to me at all, which I understood completely.

I was at fault, he had no reason to need to talk to me, or have to.

My third hour was finished, and I was walking towards the cafeteria to eat lunch with Charlotte who'd already been there since I had to stay a bit later in class to finish my math exam.

When I walk into the cafeteria I immediately spot Charlotte who waves me over with a huge smile.

Wayne was there too, oddly. His eyes were on Charlotte as he leaned over the table next to her saying something that gets ignored by Charlotte before he follows her smile towards me.

I wave to Wayne , who gives me a small smile before he's about to leave the table until Charlotte drags him down, hard.

I laugh as I walk towards them, noticing Wayne’s glare towards Charlotte who just rolls her eyes at him.

My eyes suddenly glance over to the group of Leslie and her girl friends staring me down as i walk past them. I was hoping they wouldn't say anything, until they follow me so I'm completely surrounded.

" You seriously had the nerve to put your pathetic lips on my man at prom?" Leslie scoffs, looking me up and down as she held a Chanel bag on her arm.

"You whore your way around for money don't you? Don't lie, none of us would be surprised." Her friend laughs, crossing her arms over each other.

I sigh, watching as more people gather around to watch. Charlotte pushes through everyone, her eyes furious as she watches the girls.

"You're embarrassing yourself, get the fuck on." Charlotte snorts, her eyes so obviously judging every one of them, especially Leslie.

" Oh please, what are you going to do?" Leslie spits, rolling her eyes. I was sure Charlotte was about to throw a punch when she suddenly moves forward until Wayne drags her back.

"Are you sure you want to know what I'll do?"

Charlotte snaps, glaring as she tries to escape Wayne .

Leslie's lips purse, no words leaving her mouth as she gives Charlotte a fake smile.

" Oh my gosh, Calvin! What are you doing...here." Leslie's friend says suddenly, glancing towards Leslie with a nervous look in her eyes. I look behind me to see his familiar dark hair and calm composure as his eyes move towards me, everyone watching.

" Take a guess."

Leslie's face brightens, even though Calvin was talking to her friend. I see the hope flash in Leslie's eyes, thinking he was walking towards her.

"Oh, did you want to talk to me-"

"No." He says, causing her face to drop completely. I flush when he suddenly takes my hand in his own, everyone's eyes darting down to the action.

I swallow the lump in my throat, looking towards him confused. He practically just exposed us to the entire school, and the dirty looks I was getting wasn't helping the situation at all.

"Calvin what are you..." I barely let out, looking behind him at Charlotte's wide eyes and Wayne who just watched.

Calvin doesn't say anything though. He looked annoyed more than anything as he walked through the crowd of people who watched us in shock.

" Are you mad at me?" I ask, trying to keep up with his long strides until he suddenly stops in the empty hallway, causing me to nearly crash into his back.

A short gasp leaves my mouth when he turns around, stepping closer to me. I look up at him through my lashes, my eyebrows furrowed as I try figuring him out.

" Why would I be mad at you?"

"I don't know, you looked annoyed." I mutter, shrugging my shoulders slightly.

He seemed like he was unaware of it, and just looks at me curiously.

" Did I?" He asks me lowly, and I nod my head, taking notice of the short distance between us.

"Do you have any more exams?" He suddenly asks, and I look up at him confused.

" I have my last one tomorrow, wh-"" Good, let's go." He says, grabbing my hand and starting to walk again.

" What? Calvin we can't just skip." I say, stumbling as I try catching up with him.
" We can."

"No we can't, what if they stop us from walking the stage during graduation?" I say as we reach outside, going towards his car.

"Fuck the stage."

"Calvin ."

"Lara , if they don't let you walk the stage no one is walking that fucking stage." He says, opening the passenger door for me.

I cross my arms over my chest, looking towards him as I refuse to get in the car after getting dragged here.
