Chapter 59 HIS EYES, HIS TEXT, HIS TIMING

Chapter 59 HIS EYES, HIS TEXT, HIS TIMING
CHAPTER 59:

~ Elara ~

" Sunday's are usually a bit more difficult, the house needs to be extra clean to get ready for the rest of the week. Although since we have extra maids working tonight I'll let you out at 8" Mrs. Carmen says as she walks in front of me.

If I even make it to next week.

The days only went by quicker and Andrews deadline was only getting closer.

I was terrified to say the least.

My first check next week would all be going to him. I know Roger would kill me for not giving him half, but he would have to wait a little longer.

If i gave half of my check to Roger, Andrew would surely kill me. I had no other option.

" Mrs. Carmen I was meaning to tell you this, but I moved the jelly to a different hiding spot." I say, catching up so I was walking beside her.

" And why is that?" She hums, checking things off her clipboard.

" W...well some criminal was eating it, I had to switch the hiding spot." I say, looking ahead of me as I frown in annoyance when remembering Calvin eating my jelly.

"Criminal?" She asks, looking over at me and I nod my head.

"Oh yeah, I saw it with my own eyes." I sigh, grabbing the mopping supplies from the cleaning closet as I turn back towards Mrs. Carmen who looked at me like I was crazy.

I'd gotten much more comfortable talking with Mrs. Carmen, she was the first person I started to speak to without stuttering so much.

She'd also gotten nicer to me over the past weeks.

" So, am I mopping the main floor today or everywhere?" I ask, smiling up at her. Mrs.
Carmen shakes her head as a small laugh leaves her mouth.

" Just the main floor sweetheart, you can do the bedrooms after that." She says before her eyes snap to a maid playing on her phone instead of working.

" Jamie what did I tell you about phones during work!" Mrs. Carmen yells as she speed walks towards Jamie who was frantically trying to put her phone away.

I adjust the mop and large bucket filled with soap water in my arms before carefully heading down the stairs to the main floor.

I don't even think I blinked once, trying not to spill the water everywhere.

I let out a breath of relief when I reach the end of the stairs and start mopping the marble floors.

The main floor was large, I'm pretty sure it was meant for parties and events.

My head starts filling with thoughts of what happened last night, Calvin having a knife so close to my neck, Wayne coming in after I'd fallen on Calvin’s lap.

And when I'd checked my phone last night
Calvin’s number was added into my contacts.

For some reason when he stole my phone the first thing he decided to do was put in his number.

I'm not really sure why.

All I was hoping was that I could see him today to finish the project, but i doubt he'd even acknowledge my presence. I'm shocked he even agreed to doing the project yesterday.

My hands freeze on the mop in my hand when I notice a familiar figure walking into the main entrance wearing a mini skirt, sunglasses, and a Chanel purse on one arm.

I furrow my eyebrows together as Leslie walks in, throwing her keys to the maid as she walks in with her heels clamping on the ground.

Why was she here?

Somehow she notices me because the dirty look she gives me is more than enough to get the idea through that she didn't like me very much.

" Gosh you pathetic bitch." She sighs under her breath, loud enough for me to hear as she walks by, kicking the bucket of water with her.

The water spills everywhere and I watch as it pools around my feet before looking up to see her walking up the stairs towards Calvin’s room.

My hand reaches for the mop that had fallen with the bucket but I fail as my foot terribly slips on the water. I nearly accept my fate as I'm falling until a strong arm grabs me from behind and pulls me back up to a hard chest.

My eyes are wide as I look up at Calvin’s usual angry face as he looked down at me.

The new cut that had been on Calvin’s face was now scarring, his dark hair messy, and a silver chain hanging from his neck.

" I...Ithanks." Is all that can leave my mouth as I feel myself tense up at the close distance.

" Where did Leslie go?" He says deeply as he looks over my face, no emotion in his dark eyes.

"Y…..your room." I say, looking down at his hand still wrapped around me.
Was he not going to let go?

It's almost like he just realized too because Calvin quickly lets go of me, looking at the mess of water before walking up the stairs.

I let out a breath as I stand there alone.

What has gotten into me?

I wipe off the sweat forming on my forehead after finishing the main floor, checking the time to see it'd been nearly two hours.

My eyes unconsciously glance over at the staircase towards Calvin’s room where Leslie and him had gone into.

What could they be doing?

The sound of a door slamming open and heels suddenly make its way to my ears and like the nosy person I am I stand in the corner as I watch Leslie walk down the stairs, her makeup a mess as tears rolled down her eyes.

I tilt my head to the side in confusion as I watch her walking towards the door.

" What are you looking at whore?!" She screams at me before slamming the door open and walking out of the house.

"She's crazy." A voice sounds next to me and I jump when I see Wayne standing there, looking at the door Leslie had just slammed.

His hair was pushed back, and he wore a light grey hoodie which only brought out his blue eyes even more.

"W...why did she get so mad?" I question, feeling like my brain stopped working as soon as wayne glanced down at me.

" Her family's been trying to get an arranged marriage with Calvin for her, he rejects it every time." Wayne laughs. Now it made more sense why she was so obsessed with him.

"O... Oh." I say, biting my lip nervously. He was standing so close to me. I could smell his cologne, and feel his eyes on me.

"Do you want to get ice cream after your shift?" Wayne suddenly asks, and I look up at him, my head tilted in confusion.

He wanted to get ice cream? With me of all people?

I feel my face flush red at the question.

Could Wayne really possibly like me? Maybe Caden was right.

" S...sure I'll get ice cream with you." I say, smiling up at him. I wasn't exactly sure what else to say. I knew I didn't want to say no, but maybe saying yes was a bad idea.

I had no business going out for ice cream with one of the Conner sons.

" Great, I'll meet you here whenever your shift is done tonight." He says, a huge grin covering his face now.

The rest of my shift felt like it went by even quicker as my head replayed Wayne asking me to get ice cream with him.

I also ended at eight today, which was earlier than usual, so by the end of my shift I didn't feel as drained.

I run down to my room after putting away my cleaning supplies and jump in the shower. I didn't want to smell like cleaning products while I was with Wayne.

I only realize I'd completely forgotten about the project when I was already out of the shower and changed, about to head up to the main floor.

I could just finish the project after ice cream, I mean, it wouldn't take that long eating some ice cream.

I feel the nerves rise in my stomach when I walk onto the main floor that had still been shiny from my mopping earlier.

My eyes search for Wayne but he wasn't anywhere to be seen, so I decide on sitting on the staircase while I waited.

I'd already told him about my shift ending early tonight, so I'm sure he'd be here any moment now.

" Sorry I kept you waiting, my dad was talking to me." I hear Wayne’s voice all of a sudden from behind me and quickly stand up, turning around to see him walking down the stairs.

He wore a boyish grin as he stood next to me, his blonde hair slightly messy as his eyes trailed over me.

"Iit's okay." I say, smiling back at him. A small laugh leaves Wayne's mouth as he walks up to the door and we both walk outside towards a red Lamborghini parked in the front of the house.

I stand there, swallowing the lump in my throat as I look at the expensive car.

How could I even get in there? That car was worth more than anything I've ever owned combined.

"C...can't we just walk." I mumble, scared I'd make a mess in there, or make it dirty.

" Walk? If you want to get there in a couple hours we can." Wayne laughs as he opens the passenger door for me.

I let out a breath as I nod my head, hesitantly walking towards the car before getting into the expensive looking seat.

I sit there with my hands nervously clasped together in my lap. I'm not sure what it was, but when wayne sat in the car with that same smile of his that lit up his eyes, all my nerves went away.

" You know, I'm surprised you didn't reject my offer for ice cream. I was prepared for the heart break." Wayne laughs as he starts driving.

Thankfully he wasn't a reckless driver like Calvin had been.

" Reject you? How could I do that when i was brutally forced into this." I giggle, turning my head to see Wayne looking at me curiously.

" W...what?" I say, hoping I didn't say something wrong.

"Nothing." He shrugs, moving his eyes back on the road.

"It's just the first time I've heard you make a joke." He chuckles and I flush red at his comment.

"O... oh yeah I guess." I say as I look down at my fingers.

"No, it's nothing to be embarrassed about.

I think you’re pretty funny." He says, and I look over at him, my brow raised curiously.

"Really?" I ask. No one’s ever told me I'm funny.

"Not as funny as me but your getting there." He says and I laugh, feeling his eyes on me.

Was I having a good time right now? This was odd.

I must've said that too soon, because a text pops up on my phone and I feel my heart rate increase nervously.

I was too scared to check, knowing it'd probably be Andrew.

My hand hesitantly turns my phone on and I furrow my eyebrows together when I see Calvin’s name pop up.

Why was he texting me?

My eyes read over the text, only making me more confused.

Where are you?
