“The same prophecy that spoke about a being that would rise to terrorize the world… ‘A true alpha’” she whispered in a low tone.
My breath hitched at the mention of that title. A true alpha was an alpha that could hypothesize another alpha. And not just that, there is a popular myth of a prophecy that a true alpha with absolute power would rise to rule the whole world.
I paused, but if the prophecy spoke of one true alpha. I was not an alpha, neither was I close to being a true alpha.
If what Daphne said about the prophecy was true, and the council banded together to kill the true alpha. Doesn't it make the old prophecy void…
Why was I then told that a prophecy spoke about me, and the reason the council was looking for me was because of the prophecy…, unless it was just a lie.
a political ploy to keep me here for my blood and its healing properties for themselves…
“But they were mistakened…” Daphne, oblivious of my dark thoughts, continued, "Damon's father was not a true alpha, like they thought him to be. the real true alpha is...”
Before she could finish, a commotion broke out near us, breaking the little peaceful air in the garden.
“Everybody on your knees” a rude proud voice barked, over the chaos.
Nurses, patients, even guards scrambled to their feet, forming rigid lines along the main path leading to the hospital. Before one by one their knees crashed to the ground.
I turned, confused. “What’s happening?”
Daphne’s face was drained of color. “I heard a visiting Alpha. Alpha kael came for a visit, this might be him.”
I felt his presence before I saw him, the visiting alpha. Alpha kael.
He moved with great confidence, his aura exploding around him, pressuring everyone that dared to stand close to him. But it wasn’t just him that caught my attention.
It was the silver leash that was attached to his wrist. I followed the long line of the treacherous chain to a girl that was stumbling behind him.
My blood ran cold.
She was so thin. I could mistake her for a skeleton. Her skin was bruised, and her body was filled with bite marks and ugly scars that were barely hidden beneath the scraps of torn fabric that was not fit enough to be called clothes. Her hands were shackled, together with her legs.
A pet!!
Lior whimpered ,retreating deep inside me in fear. The words escaped my mouth like poison.
The sight made my stomach churn, I felt the sour taste of disgust at the back of my throat.
Is this what they thought we were worth? Decorations? Toys? Flesh to be paraded?
Around us, the sound of knees crashing to the ground echoed throughout the surrounding area. Every one knelt in a saluting way. Fear mixed with reverence on their faces. Well everyone, except me that was still in shock and Daphne that was clutching my arm like it was her lifeline as she struggled to get up, she was not yet strong enough.
“Stay down,” I whispered fiercely, but one of the guards saw us, he broke away from the rest, and trudged over to us with a displeased look.
“You two,” he barked, pointing at Daphne. “On your knees and pay respect to the moreclain Alpha ”He reached out to drag Daphne down…
I felt something in me snap.
“Don't touch her.”
Without thinking about the consequences of my actions, a deep growl rumbled in my chest, and with a hard twist, I dislocated the guard's wrist from the rest of his hand with a pop sound
An ear splitting scream rang out, catching everyone's attention. Gasps came from the crowd, their eyes widened in fear, as if they could believe what they were seeing.
The garden fell into a deep silence. The true realisation of what I have done began to dawn on me, Daphne had a look of shock, as she continued to stare at me then back at the guard that was rolling on the floor, her mouth hung open with a lot of unspoken words.
The only sound I could hear was the beating of my heart that was pounding so hard I thought my heart would fly away.
The crowd easily parted to reveal the brute Alpha who had a murderous expression on his face, and this time his attention was focused in our direction, specifically on me.
My body froze without my consent.
My body felt like I was stuck in a sandbox. And no matter how I tried to struggle through it, I could not move my limbs an inch.
The Alpha’s hard gaze pinned me where I stood. He was tall, towering upto 6,4 foot, with a deep scar that ran across his face, giving him a savage and menacing look. His presence continued to grow with every step he took, the air itself seemed to bend under his pressure.
But then, when it became unbearable for me and Daphne who was not yet strong. I felt the familiar heat spread from my chest down to my whole body in a matter of seconds. and just like that the unimaginable pressure from the alpha vanished.
He stopped in front of me, his gaze flicking from my clenched fists to Daphne who was no longer trembling from the pressure. I saw it in his face, shock, and something else that flickered in his face, but as soon as it came, it vanished.
“You…” His voice was low, and dangerously dripping with venom.“You dare raise your hand on my guard.?”
