Chapter 86 Dining confrontation
Dining confrontation
Milo pov
The air in the hall felt heavy, just like my legs that suddenly felt like jelly, but I forced myself to move behind Damon respectfully while keeping my head lowered all the time, but that didn't prevent him from staring at me as we made our way to the dining room.
He continued to give me evil smiles that sent thrills down my overly sensitive body every time our stare met. Reminding me of what had just happened a few minutes ago.
The mere thoughts of that made my cheeks burn bright red and my steps to falter, from the little sting that still travels through my lower back, but I forced myself to stay calm and composed throughout… until we broke through the dining door.
My body shivered uncontrollably, as I felt it immediately we entered. Like a sharp prickle at the back of my neck or a knife that was hanging above my neck. I dared to look up but realised too late how bad of an idea it was.
The bitch…Damon's sister was seated gracefully at the head of the long dining table, as if the whole world revolved around her. She was beautiful in a way that felt wrong. Back straight, eyes sharp, and looked so beautiful and perfect, you would think she was a statue carved by a master class.
I swallowed hard, feeling her alpha aura that filled the whole room even without her doing anything, pressing down on me.
Our entry caught her attention.
My breath hitched when her eyes descended on me, turning cold instantly and filled with disgust
I suddenly felt like hiding myself inside a hole and never coming out.
I tried to hide the hickey's on my neck region, but it was already late. Her expression became even more offended. I felt her anger in her stare, but as fast as lightning, it was gone. Her eagle eyes narrowed at me with something else. It wasn’t just anger. It was something more, like I was filth staining the air she breathed.
My heart skipped a beat, my throat tightened, but I forced myself not to topple over and still follow Damon until we reached the table, taking out seats respectively..
But then, when I tried to take my seat, a hand shot out immediately stopping my movement.
I clamped down a small gasp that tried to escape my lips as Damon pulled me hard down on his laps, catching me completely off guard.
“Goodmorning” I greeted quickly while bowing respectfully despite the pain that was flaring up from my behind.
But the bitch, didn't respond. Instead, she took a deep sniff in the air. her nostrils flaring as though tasting the invisible trace of what Damon had done.
Her gaze hardened instantly. Her burst of anger made me want to disappear at the moment.
But before she could open her mouth to speak…
“Don’t!”
Damon interrupted. His voice carried so much weight and finality that even his sister, an alpha , hesitated on what she wanted to say. After a long glare, she humphed loudly before looking away.
Damon's hand tightened on my waist possessively, as if he wanted to remind me without words that he got my back.
I purred silently. My wolf was howling in joy inside me. Although my heart was hammering on my chest from the confrontation earlier on, my body suddenly felt at ease. All I wanted to do was cuddle with Damon all day like a little puppy.
I took a deep breath, thanking Damon silently on his timely rescue, but like they say, peace never lasts for long.
But before anyone could pick up their cutlery, the doors burst open.
“hope I am not late?”
The last person I wanted to see in my life walked into the dining room, like she was the center of attraction. Her hips swayed dramatically with much added force you would think she would dislocate her pelvis joints, her evil smile was plastered on her face, as her eyes first flickered to damon… before it landed on me.
I froze,
“Catherine!”
“What is she doing here” lior growled in my head, already feeling agitated by her presence.
I looked in alarm at Damon, but he had the faintest expression of being caught off guard. But his sister… she tilted her head towards Catherine, her lips curved into a small casual smile, but I caught it.
My stomach twisted.
“What is the meaning of this?, Catherine?” master's voice exploded through the room. His question was directed to the smiling Caroline.
Before she could even answer, Selene’s voice cut through the air like a blade. “i invited her, she will be joining us.”
“How dare you…” Damon started,
“I insist, brother, whether you want it or not, she is staying. And so is everybody seated on this table.” Selene argued, making her stance.
I ground my teeth in silence, anger bubbling inside my chest, but I couldn’t do anything, and neither did Damon.
“Good, now that everyone is on the same page, we can begin” selene said sweetly, her previous fury gone so fast.
