Chapter 84 Sister?
Milo pov
For one broken moment, I wanted to do just that to quit, to let it all go, But then, Damon's words flashed through my mind. “the world won't wait for you…” the way his face was dead set on mine, as if he wanted to carve those words into my heart. I remembered the faces of hundreds of sick and dying people that were waiting for me…
Not the weak and pathetic me. Noo, but all of them placed their hope on the Ashbourne wolf that according to Daphne, our dividing world will rely on to save it.
All of it happened within seconds, but during those times, I realised that if I wanted to not be the old Milo I was before, then I needed to get up and prove myself to these people.
A low growl rumbled through my chest. Lior responded in agreement.
I forced myself up, my vision blurring at the edge, my body swayed, but I tried to keep a clear head and face the warrior head-on.
“Ohh, finally you are not a pathetic coward atleast.” The warrior taunted.
But I didn't reply. My heart hammered in my throat, every instinct in me screamed to run as far away as possible But Damon’s words echoed louder than anything..
“ I will teach you the true meaning of power”
I barely had time to react before he charged forward like an angry bull. His aura descended like before trying to lock me in place but, this time, it barely felt like a soft gentle breeze. I clenched my fist at my sides, all the tricks and drills of Damon replaying in my mind like a fast movie.
The warrior was strength based. It was evident by the weight of his own punches that almost incapacitated me in one go.
“Diiee” he bared his fangs, then at the last minute I moved, my legs shifting to the left, as I ducked down. The air whizzled from the force of the fist that could smash through a wall. I swallowed hard. Cringed at the thought of the heavy blow connecting with my jaws.
The warrior staggered, trying to catch his bearing. At the same time the snickering in the background stopped immediately, all the sound stopped as if someone pressed pause.
“You are lucky for that one move. Let us see if you will continue to be lucky.” the warrior growled, grounding his teeth so hard I thought he would break them to dust.
Within seconds he was on me. I gasped, my mind scampering to move faster, as I tried to dodge all his deadly strikes and punches that were aimed to kill. but he pressed on, unrelentlessly.
My heart flew to my mouth. Would he actually allow me to die in his stupid game of his I didn't even want to play. I looked towards Damon. Not realising how much of a mistake it was until a sharp pain exploded at my side, a kick landed, almost shattering my hip bones.
I hit the ground hard, the crowd roaring with bloodthirsty excitement.
“Get up, Milo. Get up.” lior urged me with urgency.
Following my instincts without questions, I rolled away from my initial spot, which was now replaced by a heavy fist that had smashed the ground where my head was a few seconds ago.
I gasped ,looking at the warrior that was looking at me with hatred now. All atoms of joke and playfulness were gone, as if we were in a battle field and I was his mortal enemy.
My body still reeled from what could have happened if I had not moved. The dent on the hard ground was a testament that that blow was a death blow.
“What the hell” I spared a glance at Damon, who was looking straight at me.with an intense stare that made me look away immediately. Barely avoiding another blow, by the raging bull.
I felt something rise in my throat. My shock was quickly being replaced with anger. I was angry at everything. The rising heat that had haunted me for days, increased in intensity. My chest burned as though something that was locked away was being freed…
And I let it. My perception sharpened, everything became clear and sharp to me. I felt my veins pumping my blood but this time I felt something else was being pumped into my muscles, I clenched my eyes, savoring the taste of strength that flooded my system.
“You dare humiliate me. I will kill you…”
His movement changed as he charged. I realised too late that he had backed me in a corner, with no space of maneuvering my way out.
“You think you can dodge all my blows, let me see how you will do this one.” His eyes glinted with hate, as he struck down with blinding speed. Even an elder would not be able to see the punch that was packed with force and strength. But I did.
My hands shot out to meet his punch head on. I could hear some of them sighing in pity. To all of them, I was already a dead meat to try and go punch to punch with a strength-gifted warrior, I blocked all sound and pushed through.
Boom!!
The impact shook through me, my hands trembled but I didn’t falter. I held on, My muscles flexed, releasing all the accumulated force in my body. Our eyes met, and the warrior's hardened face turned to disbelief and shock before he was sent flying off the stage.
The crowd went dead silent.
I could see it in their faces. Shock, disbelief, acknowledgement, all at once filled their eyes.
I stared at my hands, my face mirroring their shocked faces. I had defeated a shadow unit member. And not just a defeat, I had gone toe to toe with a strength based warrior.
stood there, chest heaving, and looked at them all. The silence became even heavier as every wolf stared at me like they were just seeing me for the first time.
Come on, I thought bitterly. Say it. I dare you all.
But no one moved. No one dared to breathe loudly.
I glared at Damon, who had an unreadable expression on his face. I didn't know whether it was Pride? Fear? Something else I couldn’t tell.
After minutes of silence, he finally opened his mouth… But before he could say anything, a soft mocking laughter broke the tense atmosphere.
“Well, well, well…” the voice rang out, every word dripping with sarcasm. “What a fine little pet little Damon has trained.
“Little Damon?”
I was more curious than shocked at who would dare to address Damon by that way. Either the person is tired of living or…
My thoughts scattered like the wind.
The crowd parted the way for a tall, striking, beautiful figure that strode in like she owned the whole room. Her long dark hair ran down the length of her back, reaching the small of her back. Her lips curled into something between a smile and a sneer.
Her slow, deliberate steps echoed throughout the silent room. As she advanced forward. Not in any way affected by the cold and dangerous auras of the surrounding warriors, they threatened to swallow her.
“She is an Alpha,” Lior’s trembling voice rang inside my head, already stating the obvious.
I felt it immediately when I saw her. That deep chilling fear that sent chills down my spine. Despite her slender build. Everything about her screamed danger. She looked like a predator advancing toward a prey.
And from her trajectory, I am the prey.
But before my knees could collapse on itself, I felt Damon's presence wrapping around me like armor. He stood tall and composed, like a solid block to protect me from the dangerous she-wolf.
“What are you doing here?” I could sense the anger in his voice, fury radiating from him in waves.
The mysterious woman finally stopped, her attention leaving me since she entered to focus on Damon, who was baring his fangs at her.
with an expression of fake innocence, she tilted her head, her lips curving into a dangerous half-smile. “Is this how you greet me, little Damon?” she asked smoothly, her voice like silk. “Is this how you respect me after years of not seeing each other?”
Damon's whole body shook with anger, his fist clenched so tight I thought he would crush his own bones. “You didn’t answer my question. What do you want, Selene?” He spat the name like poison. Then, with a bitterness that shocked me, he added, “Sister.”
“Sister…”
I gasped, the words felt so foreign and, at the same time, familiar to me.
A ripple spread through the crowd. I could hear shocked whispers and gasp spread like wild fire. His sister? I could see the shock mirrored in their eyes.
Who could have believed that the mafia king, the untouchable existence that ruled the strongest pack, had a sister?
Selene’s smile sharpened, her gaze sweeping past Damon before it landed on me.
Immediately, my body stiffened, my chest constricted painfully, as golden eyes even deeper than Damon's locked on mine.
“I came back for him,”
