Chapter 72 She is infected

Chapter 72 She is infected
: She is infected

Damon’s POV

I was seconds away from exploding in anger.

The great hall was filled to the brim with every politically minded wolf in My pack. My commanders leading the charge as one by one, they presented their foolish reasons on why they should sacrifice Milo on a platter of golden plate.

“They want to hurt Our Milo. Kill them all…” Dax growled in anger, I ground my teeths, internally laughing at their foolishness.

“You cannot keep him locked away forever, Alpha” one elder barked, as if his words held weight.

“Our people are dying while you hound the cure like a treasure.” another sneered.

His words struck me like thunder.

“He has a name…” I growled in irritation, dax surging up to the surface.

“He is just a pet, if I am not mistakened.” Catherine's shrill voice rang through the hall.

“He is my pet. Not yours or anybody seated in this hall. I am the one to decide what to do with him” I growled, already losing it completely.

“And he is the cure for our pack.” General Elliot, the chief commander, Catherin father stood up, plunging the whole chaotic hall into silence. “We have lost members numbering in the hundreds already. The council is waiting like a predator for us to crumble from within. He is the Ashbourne wolf. The one stated in the prophecy. His blood is the cure… and the weapon we need.”

A ripple of greedy murmurs of approval tore through the crowd. Their evil eyes shone with an intense hunger that could not be described. And it made me sick to my guts.

I closed my eyes, a deep angry rumbling sound came from my chest, projecting into the air and silencing them for good.

This was exactly what the council wanted, to crumple my pack from the inside. and it pained me that they were foolish enough not to see that they were playing right into their trap.

My hands clenched hard onto fist as I prepared to end this madness once and for all. But before I could open my mouth,

The doors burst open…

“Milo” My voice was like a whisper.

The person who had barged into the hall was no other person but Milo, my pet.

He stood there with his chest heaving up and down, his cheeks flushed red probably from running all the way from my chamber to here.

“bastard guards...” I gritted my teeths, already standing up. I couldn't wait to deal with the guards in charge of my chamber's security.

But I was forced to backtrack, all my anger melted away when I saw how red and swollen his eyes were. Like he has been crying for a while now.

My brows knitted together in confusion. I stood frozen, watching him step into the hall. His back straight, his face filled with a knowing determination… Something about that clawed in my heart like poison.

“I accept!” His voice was formed through the chamber like lightning. “I am willing… to give my blood for the pack!”

The word felt like my chest was being beaten with a sledge hammer. My thoughts froze. For a heartbeat, I could not breathe well.

I stared at Milo, who refused to meet my stare. I was second away from exploding like a bomb.

The cheers of the elders rang like bitter music to my ears. Their eyes gleamed with vile satisfaction of a serpent watching its prey dancing right straight into its jaw.

My mouth opened and closed like a frog, everything I was about to say scattered like the wind. As his words continued to ring inside my head over and over again. I stared dumbfounded at Milo who stood like a sour wound in the middle.of the hall, head bowed, shifting from foot to foot.

Fury bubbled inside me, together with something else. I felt something crack in the deepest part of my subconscious.

“The boy has spoken,” general Elliot snarled. “His blood is our salvation.”

“Bind him now,” Catherine hissed, eyes alight with venomous delight. “Before he flees.”

The guards moved, their grip on their weapons tightening.

My claws itched to tear into soft flesh. White hot rage coiled inside my stomach, begging to be unleashed. I could taste the bitter taste of bile rising at the back of my throat.

“Anybody that touches him will bear the full brunt of my anger.”

My words rolled like thunder, the elders flinched, each instinctively taking a step back in fear. I could see their surprised faces but i dont have the strength to tell them that it is as a result of their wolf obeying a superior call…

“A true alpha's call.” Elliot whispered, his face paled like he had seen a ghost.

His muscles bulged with the strain of not obeying the inner urge to obey my words. The guards that were charging before collapsed, not able to bear the full brunt of a true alpha.

Everybody in the hall was shaken except one person, Milo. His lips trembled, but he stood at the same spot. Not moving or shrinking back like the elders. He lifted his chin, and that was when I saw it…pain.

“I won’t let you!” I snarled, my words boomed with power and authority. Marking it as the final say in the room.

“It is already late m…master.” His eyes filled with emotion for a moment, before it hardened again.

“What are you talking about?” my fury was already overflowing like a storm, even the commanders by this time were gritting their teeth to endure the great pressure. The sound of knees crashing to the ground continued to echo in the hall.

But I didn't care. Because all my attention was focused on the only boy that can stand under my pressure and not buckle under it.

“its Daphne….” his lips quivered,

“What happened to her?” I was already running out of patience.

“She is infected!!”

The storm that was at the verge of explosion shattered.
