Chapter 254 Milo little secret
Chapter 254 Milo little secret
: milo little secret
Milo pov
I found Daphne in her healing chambers. She was hunched over a table covered in medical texts and vials of various substances.
"Milo," she said, looking up in surprise. "I thought you would be celebrating. The council went well, didn't it?"
"It did," I confirmed, closing the door behind me. "But I need to ask you something. Two things, actually."
She set down her book, giving me her full attention. "Of course. What is it?"
I took a breath, gathering my courage. "First...about Aldrich? How is he?"
Daphne's expression immediately grew troubled. "Not well," she admitted. "The enhancement Millen forced on him is still in his system. It's corrupting him from the inside, slowly but steadily. I have tried everything I can think of, but nothing works. The corruption is spreading."
"Let me try," I said.
She blinked. "What?"
"Let me try to heal him," I clarified. "My power... it's different now. I can access the Goddess's healing light directly. If anyone can purge that corruption, it's me."
"M…milo, the risk…"
"Is mine to take," I interrupted gently. "Aldrich's sacrifice saved our lives during the battle. He might have chosen the wrong side before, but that was not his fault. At least let me try."
Daphne hesitated, conflict clear on her face. I know deep down she wanted me to heal him, but she couldn't bring herself to.
Finally, after waiting for several minutes for her to make a decision, she nodded. "He is in the back room. But if anything goes wrong, if the enhancement tries to fight back, you pull out immediately. Understood?"
"Understood," I agreed.
Aldrich looked worse than I remembered. The large man was barely recognizable… he laid down on a thin mattress, his whole skin gray and clammy, black veins visible beneath the surface. He was conscious but clearly in pain.
"Milo," he rasped when he saw me. "What are you doing here?"
"Come to heal you," I corrected, kneeling beside his bed. "If you will let me."
"Daphne tried," he said weakly. "Nothing works. The enhancement... it won't let go."
"I am not Daphne," I said simply. "And I have resources she doesn't."
I placed my hands on his chest, closing my eyes and reaching inward for the merged power. Purple light bloomed first… my omega healing ability. Then white… the Goddess's divine energy. Together, they flowed through my hands into Aldrich's body.
The enhancement fought back immediately. Dark, corrupted magic that tried to repel my healing. This must be why no healing methods was working for him.
"Hold still," I murmured, pushing harder. "This is going to hurt."
I added the demon's power… not to attack, but to reinforce. Red light joined purple and white, creating a force strong enough to rip the enhancement free.
Aldrich screamed.
"Milo!" Daphne started forward, but I shook my head.
"Almost... there..."
With one final surge of power, I tore the corruption free. It came out in a rush of black smoke that dissipated as soon as it hit the air, destroyed by the combined divine and demonic energy.
Aldrich gasped, his body convulsing once before going still.
For a terrifying moment, I thought I had killed him.
Then color began returning to his skin. The black veins faded. His breathing evened out.
"By the Goddess," Daphne breathed, rushing to check his vital signs. "Milo, you actually did it. He is... he is clean. The enhancement is completely gone."
Aldrich's eyes fluttered open, clearer than they had been in weeks. "Daphne?"
"I am here," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "I am right here."
I stood quietly, backing away to give them privacy as Aldrich reached up to cup Daphne's face, and she leaned into his touch. It was obvious that they love each other, no matter years of being separated.
"Thank you," she said, looking back at me with tears in her eyes. "Thank you so much."
"He earned it for what he did for us," I said, simply still standing there. "And... I need to ask you something else. A favor."
Daphne reluctantly pulled away from Aldrich's bedside, though she kept one hand clasped in his. "Anything."
I felt heat rising to my cheeks, suddenly embarrassed. "I need... that is, I was wondering if you had any... Something to prevent…."
Daphne's eyebrows rose, then widened, before settling to a motherly understanding. “Is that what I am thinking?”
"Yes," I said, unable to meet her eyes. "Damon and I... Ezra is barely two months old, and with everything happening..."
Understanding dawned on Daphne's face, followed by a knowing smile. "Say no more. I have exactly what you need."
She moved to one of her cabinets, pulling out a small vial of dark green liquid. "One dose of this daily. and don't worry, It's completely safe for omegas, with no side effects beyond occasionally mild nausea. Take it at least two hours before... activity."
I took the vial, my face burning. "Thank you."
"Milo," Daphne said gently. "There's nothing to be embarrassed about. You and Damon have been through hell. Taking a precaution like this is perfectly normal and advisable. Good, even."
"I know," I said softly. "I just... everything has been so intense. So focused on survival and rebuilding. I want one thing that's just for us. Just me and him, without any other complications."
"Then take it and go.” Daphne said warmly, her smile turning mischievous as she glanced back at Aldrich. "You have more than earned it. Both of you."
I clutched the vial, nodding gratefully. "And Daphne? Thank you. For everything. For healing me, for standing by me, for being my friend."
"Always," she promised. Then, with that knowing glint still in her eye, "Now get out of here before Damon comes looking for you. And Milo?"
I fled Daphne's quarters,
my face was burning like I took hot chilli.
The room was empty when I sneaked in, but the sound of water rushing told me a different thing.
I rushed to hide my little nasty secret, making sure that might embarrassment would end with Daphne and not be shared with another person else.
I shoved the vial deep into the drawer of my nightstand, tucking it beneath some folded clothes where Damon would never think to look.
I was so invested in my little task that I didn't hear the sound of water stopping, nor the door opening, until it was too late.
"And where were you?" Damon's voice made me jump up in shock. Backing against the drawer, I turned to face him...
Bad idea. Worst idea ever.
Damon was totally bare, front and back, like how he had come into this world.
“ohhh Fuck!”
