Chapter 204 No warmth

Chapter 204 No warmth

Chapter 204: no warmth

Milo pov

I sprang up like a cornered animal, looking for who would be my next target, but everybody pushed back simultaneously, as if being near me was a sin. The once noisy prison backyard turned into a graveyard. That was when I looked, really looked at my surroundings, the realisation of what happened sank in.

I stood there, breathing hard, staring down at the dead man beneath my hands. Blood covered my fingers. His neck was bent at an unnatural angle. The strongest prisoner in this hellhole, killed by an omega with one strike.

What had I done?

“I…I”

The other prisoners erupted in chaos. Some screamed. Others rushed forward, shouting for justice. The once hostile crowd were now clamouring for my head with fear in their voices.

The guards finally moved, their weapons raised as they surrounded me.

I stood frozen, the reality of what I had just done crashing down on me like a physical weight. I killed him. I actually killed him. The power drained from my body, leaving me shaking, weak and drained.

"Murderer!" someone shouted. "The omega is a murderer!"

"He killed Rax! He killed the strongest fighter we had!"

The guards closed in, their faces hard. I was going to die. They were going to execute me right here in this courtyard. I could see it in their faces.

"Everyone stand down!"

The voice cut through the chaos like a knife, silencing the chaos.

The guards froze when advancing towards me froze, they immediately backed away, creating a part, as Aldrich strode into the courtyard, his expression cold and unreadable.

He walked straight to me, his eyes taking in the dead body and the blood on my hands. For a long moment, he said nothing. Just stared at me like I was some kind of puzzle he could not figure out.

"The Queen demands your presence," he said finally. "Now."

“Generally this omega just killed…” one guard started ,but he couldn't finish his words, due to the short knife that was suddenly buried in his chest.

Strangled gasp tore through the crowd, as the body of the now lifeless guard tumbled to the ground.

“Who else wants to challenge the Queen's orders?”

His hard voice echoed like a tsunami, but no one dared to breathe hard, talk more of stepping out.

“Good”

He grabbed my arm roughly, dragging me toward the dungeon entrance. The prisoners shouted behind us, demanding justice, screaming for my blood. But Aldrich ignored them all.

My heart continued to pound against my rib cage. My mind was spinning with confusion and fear. Millen wanted to see me? After I just killed one of her prisoners? This could not be good.

But as Aldrich pulled me through the corridors, we did not head toward the throne room or the council chambers. Instead, he took me deeper into the dungeon, down staircases I had never seen before.

"Where are we going?" I asked, my voice hoarse. "You said the Queen wanted to see me."

Aldrich said nothing. His grip on my arm tightened as we descended another level. The air grew colder, damper. The cells down here looked older, more secured. These were the places they kept the truly dangerous prisoners.

He stopped in front of an empty cell and shoved me inside. The door slammed shut with a finality that made my stomach drop.

"Wait," I called out, pressing against the bars. "What is happening? Where is Millen? Why did you bring me here?”

Aldrich stared at me through the bars, his expression completely blank. Then, without a word, he turned and walked away. His footsteps echoed down the corridor until they faded completely.

I was alone in the deepest part of the dungeon, surrounded by silence and darkness. After I had just killed a Man...

“What have you done milo?” I asked myself, staring at my trembling hands that still shook from the aftershock of using my power. It was still covered with blood of the prison inmate I had just murdered in cold blood.

I shut my eyes, different scenarios replaying and replaying in my head.

“What if he was someone's father? Or an uncle? What if he could have repented ,and I have just prevented it from happening? What if… He has a family waiting for him outside and I had just denied them from everything uniting with each other.

I had just killed him in cold blood… I just murdered someone's son…

hot tears streamed down my eyes, the dead man's face continued to appear in my vision every time I closed my eyes. I couldn’t forget the fear in their eyes, as if they were staring at a beast instead of me…

As if I was a Monster!!

And now nothing separates me and millen any more.

I was no different than the hypocrites that murdered just for fun.

What was Millen planning? Probably she is already setting up the wooden stakes to burn my body on it. That is the only explanation as to why Aldrich brought here and left without saying a word.

The questions swirled through my mind as I sank down onto the cold floor, wrapping my arms around my knees. One hand pressed protectively against my stomach, feeling for any sign that the baby was okay.

That i was not all alone in this dark cell that had no atom of warmth.

I was looking for any sliver of hope that I could see Damon again, at least one last time before my execution.

Time lost it significantly. I didn’t know for how long I cried till no tears could come out again. I stared at my stomach, feeling the presence.

“I am sorry, child for being a bad father.” I said amidst broken sobs. “I am sorry…”

“I failed you and your father.”
