Chapter 190 Deal with the queen

Chapter 190 Deal with the queen
Chapter 190: deal with the Queen

Milo pov

Daphne was on the ground now, trying to crawl away from the predator that was matching towards her. Apparently she had lost the zeal to fight anymore.

And not just that, The other ferals were surrounding us now. We were trapped.

I felt my power rising, that purple light getting brighter and brighter under my skin. My wolf kept screaming inside me, reminding me of my condition. If I lost control of my powers, what would happen to my baby?

but I didn't know what else to do, to save her.

Around us, the battle raged. Warriors fought Council soldiers. People screamed. Blood stained the ground.

This was all my fault. They came for me. All these people dying, it was because of me.

"Please”

Aldrich stood over her, sword raised for a killing blow. No emotion crossed his face. No hesitation. Nothing.

He was really going to kill her.

"Please!" The word tore from my throat. "Leave her alone! I'll come with you! Like we agreed, please just don't hurt her!"

Everything stopped.

Aldrich's sword froze mid-swing. Every feral in the tunnel went still. The Queen's soldiers turned toward me as one.

"What, Milo!" Daphne gasped. "No, don't…"

"I said I'll come!" My voice was stronger now, even though I was shaking. Tears streamed down my face, but I forced myself to stand. "That's what you want, right? The moon-blessed? Well, here I am. Let everyone else go, and I'll surrender."

Aldrich lowered his sword slowly. His red eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made my skin crawl.

"Milo, you can't," Daphne pleaded, struggling to rise. "The baby…"

"Will die anyway if I don't do this," I said quietly, my eyes hardening, from my new found determination… my unborn baby. "We are surrounded. This is not just any ordinary attack daphne… Damon can't reach us in time. This is the only way to save anyone."

The betrayal in Daphne's eyes cut deeper than any blade. "You…” she doubled over, spitting out blood. “You can't do this Milo, you can't give up? Just like that?"

"I am choosing," I said, my voice breaking. "I'm choosing to save as many people as I can. Even if it means..." I couldn't finish. My hand pressed against my stomach again, feeling the faint warmth there. Our child. Damon's and mine.

I might never get to meet them.

"I'm sorry," I whispered.

Daphne's face crumpled. Rage and grief and disbelief warred across her features. "You stupid, self-sacrificing…" She tried to stand, to reach me, but her injured arm gave out.

Aldrich stepped between us, his attention diverting from Daphne he was ready to kill seconds ago. "A wise choice, moon-blessed. The Queen will be pleased."

"Milo?" Daphne gasped, confusion and hope warring in her golden eyes. "What are you…"

"I am sorry, Daphne," I whispered. Then louder, to the soldiers: "I'm here. As promised."

The words hung in the air like a death sentence.

Daphne's face went white. "What did you just say?"

Aldrich lowered his sword completely. His empty red eyes fixed on me, and something that might have been approval flickered in his red orbs.

"No," Daphne breathed. "No, Milo, tell me you didn't…"

"I did what I had to, " she promised, "not to hurt anyone. " I said, my voice hollow. "The Queen's offered me a deal."

"You made a deal with her?" Daphne's voice rose, hysteria creeping in. "You MADE A DEAL WITH THE QUEEN?"

"I had to!" The words burst out of me. "She would have killed all of you! She promised… she swore she would burn the pack to ashes if I didn't agree. Starting with our baby!" Tears streamed down my face. "What was I supposed to do?"

"You were supposed to TRUST US!" Daphne screamed. She tried to lunge toward me, but her injured leg gave out. She fell to her knees, golden blood pooling beneath her.

"You were supposed to let us protect you! We're a PACK, Milo! That's what family does.”

“Family…” I thought, was it not because of the same family I was in this situation. And just like a movie I was sacrificing my own freedom for the same family also.

"Thibk about it milo. About you, about your baby, about Damon?” Daphne's voice broke.

My mate's name hit me like a physical blow. Damon. My fierce, protective, loving mate who would tear the world apart to save me.

Who would hate me for this.

"Tell him..." I started, then stopped. What could I possibly say? "Tell him I'm sorry. Tell him I love him. Tell him to take care of our baby if... if the Queen keeps her word about that part."

"If?" Daphne laughed hysterically. "You don't even believe she will!"

I didn't. Not really. But what choice did I have?

I opened my mouth to say something, but I stopped mid way, when the temperature changed.

The soldiers around the tunnel straightened suddenly, their postures shifting from battle-ready to something like reverence. They parted, creating a path through their ranks.

A figure stepped out from the shadows at the far end of the tunnel.

Every soldier immediately dropped to one knee, heads bowed. Even Aldrich lowered his massive frame in deference. The ferals went perfectly still, like statues.

My breath caught in my throat.

The figure moved forward with fluid grace, completely at ease despite the carnage around them. As they entered the dim light of the tunnel, I saw features that made my blood run cold.

Because I knew that face.

I had seen it in mirrors my entire life, just slightly different. Same purple eyes. Same delicate bone structure. Same white hair, though styled differently.

The figure smiled at me, and it was like looking into a twisted reflection of myself.

"Hello, brother,"
