Chapter 144 Poiso!!
Poison!!
Damon's POV
Elijah's scream echoed throughout the battlefield that had suddenly become quiet.
“All of you, stay away” he barked at the warriors, who retreated immediately, leaving the platform for the two of us.
Elijah charged at me without warning.
He was fast. Much faster than Garth, His reputation as the strongest general was not in vain.
His fist connected with my jaw before I could block. I flew backward and crashed into the wall. Stone crumbled around me.
But despite the pain, I gave a sadistic smile in return.
"You killed my friends!" Elijah roared. "Cornelius! Garth!"
"I killed traitors, and you will be next!" I spat blood pubof my mouth and stood up. My leg screamed in pain from the spear wound, but I ignored it, to focus on the wolf in front of me.
Elijah came at me again. This time I was ready.
He reached me in seconds. Our swords met with a loud clang that echoed through the room. Sparks as we danced around each other, swords flashing in the dim light. Every strike he made, I blocked. Every attack I tried, he stopped.
He was strong, but then clashing one on one with him, made me realise how much his strengths have grown. Being with the Righteous Pack had made him more powerful.
But I was a True Alpha. And my mate was dying.
That gave me the strength and boost I needed.
"Want to know how I'm still sane?" I asked, seeing the way his body trembled in anger.
“Fuck you” he growled,
The other soldiers backed away, forming a circle around us. They knew better than to get between two alphas fighting.
"I trained you! I made you who you are!" Elijah shouted as our swords clashed again.
"You made me trust you!" I pushed him back. "And then you stabbed me in the back!"
He stumbled but recovered quickly, retaliating too quickly for me to dodge.
His sword sliced across my arm. I hissed in pain.
The curse inside me laughed. It wanted out. It wanted to tear Elijah apart.
"Not yet," I whispered to myself.
"What's wrong, Damon?" Elijah circled me like a hungry wolf. "Getting tired? Where's that famous strength of yours?"
He was right. I was getting tired. The wounds were taking their toll. The curse was draining my energy as it fought against Daphne's spell.
But I couldn't give up. Not with Milo lying there, helpless.
I attacked with everything I had left. My sword became a blur of silver death.
Elijah blocked most of my strikes, but he was still not an alpha, despite whatever mysterious way he had used to increase his strength. cut appeared on his body,
"You're slowing down, old man," I said, going for an open space I had seen.
“Ahhh” he groaned, staggering back. His eyes blazed with anger. He brought out a vial, emptying the content in one go.
“I will show you who's old!", he roared like a mad man, shifting into his wolf.whatever he had taken, increased his aura, making him on par with Alphas.
“You should be glad you made me use this boost portion.”
“Boost portion?…”
His wolf was huge, gray fur with white patches. Red eyes that burned with hate.
I wanted to shift too. Every part of me screamed to let my wolf out.
But I couldn't. If I shifted, the curse would break free completely.
So I had no choice but to fight him as a human.
His claws raked across my chest, tearing through my shirt and skin. I screamed but didn't fall.
I stabbed upward with my sword. It caught his side, and he howled in pain.
We crashed into each other, rolling on the blood-covered floor. His teeth snapped at my throat. I barely got my arm up in time. His fangs sank into my forearm instead.
The pain was incredible.
But pain meant I was still alive. Still fighting.
I grabbed a broken piece of stone from the floor and smashed it into his eye. He howled in pain, releasing my arm.
That gave me the opening I needed.
I rolled on top of him and pressed my sword against his throat, cornering him to a stop. He shifted back to human being, breathing hard. His eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
“How have you not gone feral yet?”
“A friend sacrificed her essence for me," I said, tightening my grip on his neck. "Gave me just enough time to save him."
"Impossible," he gasped.
"Nothing's impossible when you are fighting for someone you love."
"You are a monster, even with the goddamn boost, I still could not beat you." He laughed hysterically.
"Yes," I agreed,
"Do it," he gasped, coughing out blood."Kill me."
“You won't know how much I want to” Every part of me wanted to end his miserable existence.
But then he smiled. That same smile that had been on his face at the beginning, like he had it all figured out.
my hand paused mid-air.
"But if you kill me," he said slowly, "who will save your precious omega?"
"What?"
He pointed behind me. "Look."
I furrowed my brows, but still turned my head slightly, keeping my sword at his throat.
Milo was convulsing on the stone table. His whole body was shaking. Foam coming from his mouth.
"Poison," Elijah sneered, "it's in his blood. It activated when I shifted. You have maybe two minutes before his heart stops."
