Chapter 80 GRAND PLAN

Chapter 80 GRAND PLAN
Streaks of light steal in through the small spaces in the curtain.
There's a strong familiar arm wrapped around my waist.

My back is pressed to his chest and I feel safe and warm. I feel like he was made specifically for me. The spell is broken quickly as a loud knock sounds on the door.

Dante stirs and I sit up.
“Boss,” I immediately recognize Alessio's voice. “We have a problem.”

Dante pulls me close and kisses me tenderly.
“Boss.”
Alessio's voice is strained and it holds so much tension.
“You might want to see what's happening.” I say to Dante but he doesn't look the least moved.

“I want us to have dinner tonight. Just the two of us.”
“Dante…” Alessio says, this time almost pleadingly.
“Okay.”

He leans in and places a chaste kiss on my lips before getting off the bed.
“I'm coming, Alessio.” he says and then he gets dressed.

“What do you want to do today, do you have anything planned?”
“Dante, I really think you should go and see Alessio.”
“Yes, but you're my priority. I don't want you to get bored. I'll send Pixie over so you both can go shopping, is that okay?”
“Yes, now go.”

He hesitates, as if he wants to say something and I find myself holding my breath.

He turns around and leaves without saying anything at all.

DANTE
“He left.” Alessio says, I've never seen him so flustered.
“Who left?” I ask leading him towards my office.
“Russo, he left. Last night, he took Hank Reyes as a prisoner and he left for Russia. He stole one of your private jets”

“No, let's take the stairs.” I say to Alessio, walking past the elevator.
“You don't seem bothered by this?”
There's fear in his eyes and I can almost read him, he's scared that I've gone soft.

I wonder if I should let him in on my secrets or use him as a pawn, just as I used Russo.

But Alessio is different, his brain works tremendously but that's not the best part of him, the best part is what a lot of us lack, it's his heart.

It's the same reason I often trusted him with Anya. The same reason I wanted him and not Russo to keep an eye on her when I couldn't.

I step into my office, “Take a seat Alessio, we have to talk.”

My gaze lands on the obsidian desk, the same one Anya had beautifully designed with her cum. It pained me to wipe it off, I'd have left it there as evidence of our love making.

Before I can even think about it, my hand shoots out and I swipe my fingers over the spot she had leaned against. My mind compels a very enticing image of her… So utterly beautiful.

I feel my heart stutter, something that has been happening only recently. I don't fight it this time, I don't run from it and pretend that it's not there, instead I embrace it for what it is.

“This… This is more than any of us and sometimes I wonder how I manage to stay sane.” I say to Alessio and I sigh. “I knew that Russo was going to slip, I didn't just know… I had pushed him towards the edge and hoped that he'd jump over the cliff, and he did.”

I turn to Alessio but there's a look of confusion on his face but I'm certain that his mind is working hard to fill in the pieces.

“I knew that if I kept chasing the blood syndicate, they'd never be caught. There are too many of them and they've had decades, if not centuries, to perfect their craft and it would be almost impossible to dishevel them. They'd never fall, never…. But if I let them believe that I'd fallen, even the slightest fall will attract the vultures. They'd come for me, instead of going to them. My plan was to make Frederick spill the tea. He's angry that I'm not going after the blood syndicate but he will go to them, and seek revenge. After all, I murdered his favourite uncle…”
“And you put Hank in Russo's care because you knew that he would go after Vittorio.”
“Exactly. Because how else would I convince them that I'd actually given up.”

“The first hand man of the boss taking control over the situation says more than any word can ever be said.” Alessio says with a growing smile.

“Exactly, but there's a second problem.”
“What?”
“Anya is cousins with Ivan Volkov and now the Russians have their eyes on her.”
“I don't understand.”
“No, she's not a spy. She doesn't know about any of this. And we will keep it that way until I figure out a plan.”

Alessio pauses, I can tell he wants to ask more but I have given him more than enough. I would tell him more when the time comes.
“For now what do we do?” He asks
“I'm certain Russo will sniff out Vittorio, we will let him. He will want to brag about his catch and it would get to his head. He would be proud that he had out-done Dante Marchetti, this will bring new attention to him.”
“The blood syndicate.”
“Yes, they will want him, he has important information on me. He knows almost everything about me.”
“We should kill him before they get to him.” Alessio says, the look of panic on his face.

“No, no. It's a dangerous plan, the most dangerous I've ever come up with but the risk is worth taking. They will come for me, Alessio and they will come with all they have. I'm a threat they will eradicate once and for all and this is where you come in.”

He swallows hard and rubs his palms on his knees.
“I need you to take care of Anya and Viviana. There will be a safe house in Italy.”

He starts to protest but I interrupt him.
“There's no other way.”
“What happens if you don't return?” Alessio asks.
“Great question. I've drafted a will.”
“Dante.” Alessio says, shaking his head in refusal
“It's an order.”
“There has to be another way.”
“There's none as effective as this.”
“When?”
“It won't take long now, it won't take long.”
