Chapter 75 No Way
“But what's great is that until now you are still trying to avoid and hide, I really support you, and I hope that you will do this until the end until they are really caught and also get justice. Even though I've said it again, it's impossible unless you seek justice personally and in your own way. Because no police or government in the world will ever be able to support you. They are the masterminds behind all this, and they wouldn't possibly throw themselves in jail and punish themselves in such a horrific manner, right?
"That's one of the reasons I chose to become a mafia member. I know all too well that the fairest punishment for them is one I inflict myself. It's pointless to speak up and tell them this, as they'll never care, and in the end, I'll be the one who suffers such a horrific punishment. And I will ensure they receive their just reward for all the crimes they've committed, and let the criminals who have committed these crimes receive justice for those who seem to be such good people."
"I always support you, my friend. Because you are my friend, and you've always supported me and helped me in every way."
“Thank you, my friend, because of you I have found all the suspects in my parents' death.”
After the small talk, the two of them finally went home. The atmosphere was naturally awkward, a sign that this wasn't the best conversation for anyone. They both knew who Mr. Michelle was, but they certainly had different interpretations. If her husband thought Mr. Michelle might be related to his parents' death, it made sense. He was so familiar with the outside world, even knowing how people could manipulate their faces so well, and knowing that his greatest enemy was someone close to him. It was natural to know that there were no good people in this world, and anyone could be a suspect in any criminal case, no matter the reason.
The only problem was, Julia still couldn't believe what her husband's friend had just said. Because after all, the woman truly understood who Mr. Michelle was, the man who had been her superior for the past few years while she worked. Of course, Julia had only been with this elite police force for the past five years, but in those five years, she truly knew who Mr. Michelle was, and it was almost impossible for Mr. Michelle to be involved in such a horrific murder case.
In the past, Julia remembered how Mr. Michelle had defended a criminal who had been captured and was about to be killed by several state police forces because he was considered a perpetrator of such terrible violence and had committed many senseless crimes. However, when she saw the suspect in such a truly concerning state and even in such a weak state, Mr. Michelle was truly touched, even with himself becoming a shield against all the firearms pointed at the man until finally the police felt like they gave in and gave the man a chance to live and be tried alive. So how could someone like that commit such a horrific act that could even be said to be more than guilty and this was a crime far more senseless than anything else. And now this woman didn't know what to say to her husband. She felt ashamed, guilty, and even her pride as an elite police officer felt utterly worthless. Finally, she turned around when her phone rang, and it was her best friend.
"What's wrong with you? You seem to be going through something incredibly difficult, don't you?"
"No, why are you calling me? Has something happened, or is there a new job for me?"
"Not at all, but there's one thing I want to ask you. Can I meet your husband and Steven?"
A question that completely confused Julia, as it was rare for her best friend to suddenly ask something like that. And the woman knew who Steven was; he was Mr. Michelle's cousin, who naturally knew something about what was supposed to happen. And more than that, bringing her husband together with a staff member who was an outsider who, until now, her husband was still trying to hide his true identity was certainly quite terrifying. The woman was afraid that her husband's identity would be revealed just because of her and of course that would put her husband in danger and he would be in danger and Julia didn't want anything to happen to her husband, no matter what.
"Why do you suddenly want to meet my husband?"
“You don’t have to be suspicious, actually about the symbol problem that you sent me, I’ve tried to find out and I barely know anything. Until finally Steven came to greet me then I remembered that he had been sent to a country that had connections with some syndicates that were so terrible and so very familiar with these symbols, then I told him some things that I knew about your husband, that your husband was a victim because his parents were killed by someone, and so on. Then suddenly Steven told me an event that was so terrible that I can’t even explain it here, we have to meet and I will tell you everything so you know about this story. And more than that, it seems like Steven knows this symbol and he has a friend who can translate these symbols.”
"Don't!"
Julia felt incredibly panicked. If her friends and Steven learned the meaning of the symbol and the final perpetrator were Mr. Michelle, they would all be utterly shocked and traumatized. She and her husband were the only ones who knew this, and no one else was allowed to know. After all, Mr. Michelle had always been a role model their team could never deny.
"Why? We just wanted to help."
"It's not like that. Actually, my husband and I have met someone who understands this symbol. And fortunately, we already know everything very well. Of course, knowledge alone isn't proof, but we need to have conclusive evidence of everything that happened so we can prosecute this matter. And that's why we still don't know how to find enough credible evidence to catch them."
"So you already know everything? You can tell me, because after all, this is one of the cases related to the person we've been suspecting. If what happened is true, it's a very serious problem for all of us. We must uncover it, and we must prove to the world that we can. And I'm absolutely certain that if Mr. Michelle knew about this, she would give us her full support and help us solve this case."
Julia's chest ached as she heard her friend mention Mr. Michelle so loudly. It was as if that hope had become a belief, and Mr. Michelle was a hero, perfect beyond compare. If Mr. Michelle knew, this case would be silenced, and everyone who knew about it would be killed, just like what happened before. That was not a good thing at all.
