Chapter 7 Julia and Kay's Wedding
Upon entering the apartment, Julia was completely stunned by all the amenities. All the luxury items, a swimming pool, and Kay's apartment unit was truly spacious and exclusive.
"I might even get lost here alone," Julia muttered, then approached one of the doors. Opening it slowly, Julia realized it was the master bedroom. Yes, Kay's room.
Julia had no idea that a mysterious man like Kay would have such a tidy room, and even more importantly, the colors were so bright.
Julia smiled wryly; she hadn't expected to be here, and all because of a jerk like Robin.
"Many women must have slept in this bed, moaning in pleasure and even reaching their peaks here," Julia scoffed.
Then, a message from one of Julia's friends arrived, and the police department contacted her after her phone was activated.
“Oh my gosh, Julia. Where did you go? Do you know if we're really looking for you right now? We've been missing you for days!”
Julia swallowed hard. The only one who knew Julia's disguise was Bob, and Julia had threatened him to keep quiet. Surely the pot-bellied man wouldn't dare say anything to the police and chose to remain silent.
“Oh, I'm sorry, Rebecca. I'm really too busy.”
“So you chose Robin over your job?”
“Huh?”
“Bob told me personally that you went somewhere to look for Robin, who suddenly disappeared. Oh my God, Julia. You're crazy!”
Julia lowered her head perfectly, smiling bitterly. No, Julia wasn't crazy, but stupid.
A stupid woman who could even believe and be deceived by a scoundrel like Robin, and Julia remained silent and innocently believed it all.
“You're right…” Julia said, her voice trembling. "I'm not just crazy, Rebecca. I'm stupid..."
Rebecca's initially high intonation immediately lowered, and she seemed panicked when she heard Julia's hoarse voice. Julia... was crying?
In the ten years Rebecca had been friends with Julia, she had never once cried. So what had happened to Robin that made Julia this fragile?
“Calm down, what happened? Are you okay, Julia?”
Julia didn’t answer, but she nodded.
“Should we meet?”
“No, I’m fine, trust me.”
“Okay, did something happen to Robin? We still haven’t found out where he is since he suddenly called for emergency assistance.”
“You don’t need to deploy any special forces to look for him, it’s useless.”
Rebecca was confused by Julia’s words.
“What did you say?”
“Robin wasn’t kidnapped, Rebecca. He left me, he just went to marry the daughter of a wealthy businessman in the next town.”
There was a moment of silence, and neither Rebecca nor Julia said a word. Julia tried to suppress her rekindled emotions, as if the sweet, honeyed fragments of her past had just happened.
Damn, Julia’s heart still ached so terribly.
All the sweet promises Robin had made to Julia, even the wedding that seemed imminent, were all in vain.
Julia even saved money and suppressed all her shopping desires because she wanted to help Robin organize their dream wedding reception, and it turned out it was all a sham.
Once again, Julia was shocked. She didn't know whether to be grateful or not. Even if she didn't know, she would have been fooled by Robin forever.
"This is crazy!" Rebecca managed to snap Julia out of her reverie. "You guys are the most compatible and romantic couple in the world, how is that possible? I can see he loves you so much, oh my God, this is crazy!"
Julia didn't answer, her precious tears just falling.
"Don't be sad, Julia. A man like that doesn't deserve your tears. You're beautiful, intelligent, and accomplished. You deserve so much better than that shameless, worthless man, okay?"
Julia nodded. "It seems true. I don't even want to cry over him. But these stupid tears keep flowing, it's driving me crazy."
“Okay, just get some rest, Julia. I’ve already told our superiors to give you three more days off, and I hope you’ll be back in good health after that, okay? And as for Robin, I have to find evidence. I think firing him immediately is the right thing to do. He lied, leaving his job just to marry a woman. What a waste!”
Julia then hung up her phone and stood back up. She seemed confused. She was sleepy and wanted to sleep, but she couldn't sleep in Kay's room. Kay had used the other room as a workspace and a storage area for her clothes, so Julia didn't have free access to rest.
"Oh my God, I just realized he's single."
Julia finally walked over to the sofa, curled up there, and began to close her eyes completely.
Meanwhile, Kay sat with a dark, piercing gaze. His fingers continued to play with a reddish diamond that glowed even brighter in the darkness.
"Sir, are you really going to marry that woman?" the question went unanswered. Until one of the mafia members spoke again. "That woman is an elite member of the police force. It's very dangerous to have her by your side, sir."
"I like challenges, you know?"
"But—"
"You don't need to worry about something that hasn't happened yet. Trust me, everything will be fine."
The man nodded obediently, then left. Disobeying Kay was a death sentence, and he didn't want to be shot right away for contradicting Kay's decision.
The next morning, after Kay finished his work, he hurried away, dismissing all his members to remain in the community for the next few days. Besides investigating several things, he had a secret mission. Now Kay was walking freely through the streets of Berlin, walking to his apartment to meet Julia. He had even prepared everything. Everything he would wear for his wedding to Julia.
The wedding dress, the wedding suit, all the accessories Julia would wear, and not to mention the all-important wedding rings, Kay had to carefully prepare them.
Even though this was a mutually beneficial marriage, Kay wanted to make it unforgettable.
"We'll see after this, Julia, whether you win or I win," Kay said with a sly grin. His only goal was the police force, and he would destroy the entire police system through Julia. Yes, Kay wasn't that kind, willing to help Julia for free.
