Chapter 47 He Will Gone
Tonight, Julia could only remain silent. The woman tried to see how her husband was sitting while looking at the laptop screen, the last few nights he had indeed become quiet. As if there were many things that had changed him into a different person, usually the man would talk a lot telling about several things that of course ranged from something that made sense to something that even made no sense at all. Until finally Julia smiled wryly, it seemed that her husband's revenge mission would soon begin seeing how her husband looked so very serious even the last few days he had not been in his company at all. Who knows what was currently on her husband's mind, only Julia hoped that whatever it was would never damage anything and would never even affect everything that might become much more terrible in the future. Because this would pose an extraordinary risk. "What are you thinking about right now? Why haven't I seen you at your boarding house these past few days? Instead, I always see you standing in front of your laptop screen first. You're on the phone with several people so seriously, which party are you from? You're calling their names in Roman numerals like a code, just like what you did when we first met. Surely this proves that there might be a movement that you and your group will undertake?"
Kay didn't immediately answer his wife's question. The man was still focused on his work and even now seemed completely oblivious to her question. His wife's expression was truly annoyed, but her husband didn't seem to care at all. Julia couldn't believe how her husband could have gotten this way. Finally, the man stood up and turned off his phone after their very serious conversation, of course, using various codes that probably only her husband and the group knew.
"Maybe the day after tomorrow I'm going on a long trip. There's a mission I have to complete, and I need to make things easier."
"And me?" asked Julia, starting to feel extremely annoyed. How could it not be? If her husband left, what would happen to her? Moreover, the woman knew her husband was a mafia gang member and that when he left, it would definitely take a very long time, not just a week or two, but several months or even years, and this one thing alone made Julia feel very anxious. "Then what about me here? Are you going to leave me alone like that? While you are busy with your own work and you make me suffer?"
"You're a police officer, and you have many friends here. You have your own life, and of course, yours is a path that is so sincere and full of truth. It's very different from mine, whose life is so dark and winding. Bringing you along with me to commit various crimes is certainly not a good thing, is it? Your goal, and our goal in getting married, was to get out of your hurt feelings for your ex-lover. However, it seems you've done the same thing, and I've provided such an extraordinary method. And I think your problem has been resolved well. After that, I'll be leaving for a while, but I don't want to get you involved in this. Remember, you're a police officer, and I can't possibly put you in danger, let alone make you appear to be a traitor to the friends who have supported you so far."
Julia felt completely disbelieved. Her eyes looked so dark, she even wanted to cry. The woman had never imagined that her relationship with her husband would end so quickly. There was no mention of divorce, not even a fight, making a separation so incredibly satisfying, and this left a profoundly sad impression beyond anything else. She felt both unacceptable and unwilling, as if she wanted to do anything to stay with her husband, no matter what.
"No, of course it's not this easy, right? You can order me to do anything, as long as I don't do something that makes me think this is the absolute impossible. We're husband and wife, so how could you want to leave me? Besides, isn't your grudge against that man still unresolved?"
Kay took a pistol from the drawer and appeared to be cleaning it.
"If you really think this is so difficult, just think of it as if you were married to a sailor right now. Wouldn't a nurse do her job and leave in a few months? Once that's done, they'll return for their wives."
There was a strange feeling, a feeling of anxiety, all of them mixed together, and no one could ever unravel it. No one would ever know how Julia felt right now; even she herself was confused. What was happening? Suddenly, she felt afraid of losing her husband, and suddenly, she wondered if he would return safely and in need? Her husband's departure wasn't about actual work, but rather about fighting a group of police and others to escape and carry out a truly terrifying transaction. Julia's expression was incredibly sad, and she wiped away her tears as she turned away from her husband.
"Tell me, what do you want? When I get home, I'll bring you whatever you want—a luxury bag? Jewelry? Or whatever you desire."
Julia shook her head completely, then smiled wryly. Her moist eyes gazed at her husband with a gaze so deep and gentle, it was as if it were a gaze no other woman in the world could ever possess. And of course, as a husband and as a man, he remained like that to the woman he had been with for so long, making Kay feel incredibly suffocated. He couldn't bear to leave his wife and he didn't want to be separated. However, this was his duty; as the head of the mafia, he naturally had to carry out this task with utmost care, even to the end. He who started it, he also had to finish it, no matter what.
"I don't need anything from you at all. Money doesn't matter to me at all because I can earn my own, and I'm proud of my income, whatever it is. I just want you back alive, and, let's just say, without anything missing. Do you know how incredibly suffocating I felt when you said you wanted to leave? I know I was wrong, but I don't care. Trust me, you have to come home alive and safe."
After saying that, Julia decided to go into her room, breaking down in tears.
