Chapter 16 Starting to Get Suspicious
Kay had been sitting in a daze for a while, his mind completely preoccupied with his thoughts. He was still trying to analyze the events of the past few days. Meanwhile, his wife sat doodling, having finished her work, but he was terrified that she wouldn't do anything. Kay's expression returned to a serious expression as he recalled a brief conversation he had had with one of his officers.
"I want to tell you, Mr. Alexander. If it turns out there are several police officers trying to track us down, more than that, I've heard that the elite police in this city have already begun to investigate your identity. Because until now, they haven't found out who you are, that's enough to make them curious about you and so on. I think this makes it even clearer that we need to be vigilant and careful. So, should we do something, sir?"
And there was something that really bothered Kay. He sensed his wife knew something, but she chose to remain silent and pretend not to. The man then walked and looked for a gap to enter the room. He then opened the closet and searched for any possible items. Sure enough, there was a brown envelope in the closet that Julia had apparently hidden. This prompted Kay to open the envelope and reveal some truly extraordinary decisions: Julia agreeing to investigate the existence of a terrifying mafia, none other than her own husband.
Kay was at a loss for what to do; he was utterly confused. And of course, he understood that Julia was also in a very difficult situation.
Kay put the brown envelope back down and went out and sat across from his wife.
"How about we have dinner together later? I think that would be quite fun."
Julia looked at her husband with a confused look, then nodded her head perfectly.
"Didn't you ask me if I felt so strange about all this? Don't we have the same goal? You want to help me get revenge on Robin, but how can we be so relaxed? We won't see that man again, and we're just like any other married couple spending some time together."
Hearing this, Kay naturally smiled faintly. Then he raised an eyebrow and looked at his wife again.
"What's with that question? How strange. Do you feel like what we're doing is just a waste of your time? Are you so bored and want to go back to work? Or do you want to break up with me? Explain to me which is your choice, because I'm so curious about your answer."
Julia looked at her husband with a look that didn't even occur to her that he would say such a thing. She tried to smile, then stood up and sat beside her husband, taking the wine he had just scared her into, and immediately rebuked him greedily.
"What are you saying, Mr. Alexander? This is so strange. Since when has a mafia boss been so sensitive, even making fun of his own wife? Of course, I have no choice. I just thought that marriage to a mafia boss isn't as scary and stressful as it was when we first got married. We're like two normal people, just making the most of our free time. I'm quite curious about what else you want to do to Robin, just like I want you to."
"Before we go that far, I want to ask you, Mrs. Alexander. Haven't I helped you so far? Someday, when your revenge is complete and you're completely satisfied with what you did to Robin, what reward will you give me? Making love is one of those things that could be called too ordinary. You know that I'm a mafia boss, and of course I like things that are unique and rare, things that are of immense value and even provide extraordinary benefits when purchased."
"Are you planning to sell me?"
Kay laughed at Julia's question.
"Why should I sell you? You're still useful to me."
Julia sneered, then complained about what her husband had said.
"Julia, didn't I tell you if something was bothering you, tell me? I could have helped you with your problem, couldn't I?"
Kay had even seen Julia's cell phone, and even now, she hadn't reported any of her movements. This meant that Julia hadn't shared any information about the mafia's whereabouts, which of course shocked Kay. This proved that Julia hadn't betrayed him at all.
"What are you talking about, Mr. Alexander? I feel fine and have no problems; you don't need to worry like that. Why are you suddenly so concerned? Or have you become attracted to me?"
"If anything, the reason I'm attracted to you is because I want to preserve your heart."
Julia chuckled again at that statement and then ignored her husband. "Erik, can you do something for me?"
"What is it, Mr. Alexander?"
"Give Julia a few clues every three days, discreetly and without her knowing."
"What's wrong, sir? Is something going on?"
Of course, Erik would ask such a thing. It was incredibly strange for his boss to suddenly ask for something so strange. By giving evidence to the wife of his post, a special member of the elite police force, it was a sign that Kay wanted to reveal the identity of his own group in such a foolish way. This was called stupid suicide, wouldn't that just make things more vulnerable?
"Just show a little bit of ourselves, no need to go too far. Right now, the police are playing with us. Of course, we have to respond in a very extraordinary way by playing along, right? But of course, here I don't want to implicate my wife as a guilty party, because these past few days I've seen how my wife has barely been able to sleep, and maybe she's thinking about how to work well and also be obedient to her job. But on the other hand, Julia is also confused about having to expose her own husband's shame, and that's not something that's likely to be easy for her." "Very well then, sir. I will do as you wish, and I have also moved everything from the old location known to the police to the new location. That location is still active, and I even assigned some workers to work there so that at least when the police investigate and try to investigate, they will know that the location is still operating perfectly well. They will never know the truth, and we will have to deceive them once again. However, I am also quite touched that this is the first time the police have been able to detect our presence. Of course, the government already knows this and is trying to connect them, but it seems there is one among them who is unwilling to cooperate and is doing all this for the sake of the truth."
"And I already know who that person is."
Kay smiled sarcastically, then clutched the small yellow in her hand until her hand was cut and dripping blood.
