Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Bandel grabbed Berlin by the hair and forcefully pulled her into his arms.

With just a little pressure from his hand, Berlin passed out cold.

I looked at him in surprise.

Just as I was about to speak, Bandel said to me, "Don't worry, she's fine, just unconscious."

I let out a long breath, looking at the woman before me with mixed feelings.

The pain she'd caused me was something I really didn't want to remember.

I closed my eyes and asked Bandel, "Are you taking her away?"

Bandel looked at me and nodded seriously and solemnly.

"I need to find out what she did to you. And whatever she did to you, she'll get what she deserves."

Hearing this, my eyes got a little moist.

I opened my eyes and looked at Bandel, "You're going to tell Kane about this, right?"

Bandel nodded without hesitation.

I thought for a moment and said to Bandel, "After you tell him, have him come see me. I want to tell him about this myself too."

Bandel was pleased that I was willing to bring this up with Kane on my own.

He nodded with a smile and promised, "Don't worry, I'll report this to Mr. Moretti exactly as it happened."

With that, he dragged Berlin away.

Everyone present saw what Bandel did to Berlin and Bertley, but no one dared to stop him.

They knew Bandel's identity.

Perhaps it was because of the necklace around Bandel's neck that belonged to the Moretti Family.

So they knew who Bandel was, and they knew he was absolutely someone they couldn't afford to offend.

I sat back down, and Nina looked at me with some concern.

Her hand gently stroked the back of mine as she softly asked, "Do you still want to eat? Or should we just leave and go home?"

I smiled at Nina and gently shook my head.

"Someone's paying anyway, right? Let's eat our fill here before we go back."

Seeing that my expression seemed fine, Nina completely relaxed.

She smiled and stroked my cheek, saying, "Since you've been with Mr. Moretti, you've really changed a lot. You can even face Berlin directly now."

Yes, I never thought that one day I'd be able to face Berlin directly without being scared.

Actually, I was pretty frightened just now too.

But after Bandel showed up, I remembered that I had Kane by my side.

With Kane's status, how could he not know what I'd done in the past?

He must know everything, and maybe he even feels sorry for me because of it, showing me more compassion.

Thinking of this, the corners of my mouth curved up slightly, and I said to Nina, "What do you think Kane will do about this?"

Nina thought for a moment, first shaking her head, then saying with certainty, "Mr. Moretti won't let her off easy. I think she'll lose at least a layer of skin."

Given how Kane dealt with Eric before, I figured Berlin's fate would be a hundred times worse than Eric's.

Seeing Nina's not-so-happy expression, I remembered that she'd come out today to have fun.

She'd brought me along thinking she'd have a nice date with Bertley.

But she never expected something like this to happen.

I felt a bit guilty.

I looked at Nina and said with some apology in my tone, "I'm sorry. If it weren't for me today, you could have had a perfectly wonderful date to remember."

Nina looked at me, her eyes showing some shock.

She grabbed my hand and shook her head repeatedly, "Oh my god, why would you think that? Dear Sonya, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have seen through Bertley's true nature and would have been deceived by him. What a despicable person! Knowing you looked so distressed, he didn't know when to stop and just kept asking questions. He's nothing but a lowlife."

Seeing Nina's indignant look, the corners of my mouth curved up slightly too.

That was true. If I hadn't come along today, Nina might have continued to be deceived by Bertley, unable to see through his petty nature.

Nina and I finished dinner together. The dinner with just the two of us was quite delicious.

Bertley was soon taken away by people from his family.

When they came, they didn't dare look our way at all, as if afraid to make eye contact with us, and hurriedly carried away his unconscious body.

Before leaving, they very proactively paid the bill.

It seemed they knew what Bertley had done and were worried I might say something else to Kane.

The corners of my mouth curved slowly, my eyes showing faint mockery.

After dinner, Nina and I returned to the manor.

At this moment, the manor seemed much quieter than usual. I didn't even see Athena, but I could faintly hear wailing sounds coming from the distance.

Nina and I exchanged glances and followed the wailing sounds.

In a corner of the manor was an entrance to a basement, and the wailing seemed to be coming from there.

I walked over curiously, wanting to open the entrance, but Athena emerged from the corner.

She looked at me gently and said, "Mrs. Moretti, what's happening down there isn't suitable for you to see."

I looked at Athena and asked curiously, "Is it the person Bandel brought back?"

Athena nodded slightly, her hand resting on my shoulder as she said, "Mr. Moretti is down there too. He's very angry right now. I think you and Miss Nina should go to the living room, have some fruit, and wait for him to finish."

Nina heard Berlin's miserable screaming, which sounded like cries from hell itself.

Nina swallowed and quickly tugged at my sleeve, saying, "We should listen to Athena. He wouldn't harm us."

I nodded and left the area near the basement.

After some time, I heard Kane's footsteps from the distance, crisp yet somewhat heavy.

I raised my eyes and met his gaze, which still held some redness, filled with anger.

I stood up, about to greet him, when he pulled me directly into his arms.

This time, he held me tighter than ever before, as if wanting to merge me into his body.

I could barely breathe and gently pushed against his chest, saying, "Mr. Moretti, I can't breathe."

Only then did Kane belatedly loosen his grip, his eyes showing a trace of sadness. After a long while, he said softly, "That woman dared to treat you like that before. I will never forgive her."

Hearing Kane's words, Berlin must have told him everything.

I felt no burden in my heart anymore. I reached out and held his somewhat cold hand, asking, "What did she tell you? That I stole things?"

Kane shook his head slightly, "I only heard how she treated you."

This statement made my smile freeze on my face.

I lowered my head, my body still trembling slightly, unable to control it.

Kane gave everyone around us a look, and they all left, including Nina.

Only Kane and I remained in the living room.
