Chapter 68

Chapter 68

I returned to my room alone and fell into deep thought.

Thinking back to Kane's attitude earlier and Alice's arrogant provocation.

My mood felt somewhat heavy.

Finally, Kane came to my side.

I didn't even know when he had come back.

I looked up at him, and for some reason, even though I felt resentment in my heart, when I saw him, I still wanted to cry.

Kane gently stroked my head, his tone carrying a hint of restraint.

"Are you willing to hear my explanation?"

I looked at him, lowered my eyes, and nodded gently.

"What happened between her and me was a long time ago. Before you, I did have a few female companions. You know, with my status, it's impossible not to have contact with women."

Actually, I had already accepted these things.

I just found it really hard to accept seeing Alice in Kane's bed today.

I looked up at Kane and asked seriously, word by word, "Then why was she in your bed?"

When Kane mentioned this, a flash of disgust and disdain crossed his eyes, and his lips curved into a cold smile.

"She somehow found out I was planning to rest at the hotel tonight, but actually, that hotel was opened by me for Bandel."

The reason Kane went to that room was to wait there for me to have a late-night snack.

And also to chat with Bandel about some recent family matters.

After hearing Kane say this, I found it hard to believe.

So Alice had sneaked into the room.

Kane nodded, his eyes showing disgust, but also helplessness.

"I thought that after arranging things for them beforehand, they wouldn't come disturb my life again. Now it seems I really should teach her a lesson."

I grabbed Kane's hand, sensing his killing intent.

"What are you planning to do to her?"

Kane looked at me, narrowed his eyes, and said with a slight smile, "Of course, make sure she can never appear in your sight again."

I remembered the rumors about Kane liking to feed people to sharks.

I hesitated before speaking, "Are you going to feed her to the sharks?"

Kane thoughtfully touched his chin, then smiled at me and said, "That's actually a good suggestion, darling."

I froze for a moment and quickly waved my hands.

"No, I just saw some information about you online, saying you would kill traitors and those who offended you, then throw them into the sea to feed the sharks."

Kane looked at me and burst out laughing, but then he became serious again.

He looked at me and said, "Darling, you should know my position. If I'm too merciful, it will only bring trouble to myself."

Kane didn't deny the question I just asked.

So he really does throw people into the sea to feed the sharks.

For some reason, after hearing him admit it so straightforwardly, I actually felt relieved.

Just as he said, he's in the mafia and can't be merciful, otherwise he'd be cruel to himself.

I reached out and took his hand, my eyes showing some hesitation.

Suddenly, Kane hugged me.

He said to me gently, "You did nothing wrong in this matter. I think anyone would be very angry to see another woman in their newlywed husband's room. But I'm very glad you didn't shut me out because of this."

Kane smiled and joked with me, saying he thought he'd have to sleep outside today, thinking I would lock the door and not let him in.

I think Kane has some misunderstanding about me.

No matter how angry I was, I wouldn't dare do that to him.

I looked at Kane and smiled.

"As you said, I need to give you a chance to explain, otherwise wouldn't Alice's purpose be achieved? She obviously came to drive a wedge between us. However, there's another thing I really care about."

I looked at Kane and asked, "So, Alice, is she really pregnant with your child?"

Mentioning this, Kane's expression looked somewhat serious.

He said to me, "I've already arranged for Alice to get tested."

I don't understand much about these things.

I really doubt that even if they find out Alice is pregnant, how can they confirm it's really Kane's child?

Kane looked at me, seeming to be thinking about something, raised an eyebrow, and pulled me into his arms again.

His tone became slightly heavy as he asked, "What are you thinking about?"

I smiled and said to him, "I'm thinking about how to prove the child Alice is carrying is yours."

Kane patted my head, his tone carrying some approval as he said, "My cupcake is really smart, thinking of this question."

Then Kane's tone became lower, "Alice has never been an honest person. I know she was still in contact with other men while she was with me. So I'll have Bandel handle this matter. If she's lying to me, she's definitely dead—that's one outcome."

What I was more curious about was, if the child really was Kane's, what would he do to Alice?

Kane looked at me, his eyes gentle as he asked, "Are you willing to keep this child? If you're not willing, I'll take care of it."

His expression was very serious, not joking at all.

I was silent for a while, then nodded gently.

"If it's really a life, I can't just let it slip away."

And this life would be Kane's offspring, though I have no experience raising children.

Hearing my words, Kane's expression was very moved.

He held me in his arms, stroking my hair over and over.

"I'm truly very lucky to have a lover like you."

Kane's praise made me a bit embarrassed.

I pressed my lips together and smiled somewhat shyly.

I suddenly remembered the slap I gave Kane earlier, so I raised my hand and gently touched his face, asking softly, "Does your face still hurt?"

Kane grabbed my fingers, smiling happily.

He winked at me and said, "That slap of yours was like a kitten scratching, nothing at all."

I pulled my hand back and huffed.

"Well, looks like I hit too lightly. Next time I'll hit harder."

Kane was amused by my appearance. He held me and lay down on the bed.

I quietly felt his body warmth, grateful I didn't do anything today that I would regret.

"By the way, I'm going on a business trip to Northern Europe in a couple of days. Why don't you come with me? We can also have our honeymoon there."

Kane suddenly lifted my chin and said to me with a smile.

My eyes immediately showed happiness.

"That's great, I really want to go to Northern Europe."

And my mother also loved Northern Europe.

Our biggest dream used to be to save enough money and then take a trip to Northern Europe.

But now it seems that it can only remain a dream.

A trip to Northern Europe is expensive, and on my own, I could never afford it.

Seeing me happy, Kane's eyes showed genuine joy.

Then he sighed.

I looked at him, somewhat puzzled, and asked, "What are you sighing about?"

Kane said somewhat indignantly, "I haven't even gotten to eat the late-night snack you prepared for me."

He made me laugh. I turned over and lay on his chest, asking, "Do you still want to eat now?"

Kane's stomach cooperatively let out a growl.

I couldn't help but laugh.

I jumped out of bed and opened the door. A maid was standing outside.

I said to her, "Please go get that black container from the kitchen and heat it up."
