Chapter 59
After returning to the room, Kane thoughtfully helped me take a bath.
When the warm water poured over me, I felt more comfortable than ever before.
Kane's hands also became warm from the hot water.
We looked at each other and smiled.
After getting cleaned up, I went back to bed, feeling a bit sore down there.
I wondered if we might be overdoing it a little.
Kane, fully dressed, sat beside me, kissed me, and said, "You rest well here. Don't wait up for me tonight. We'll leave tomorrow morning."
I nodded obediently and watched him leave.
Between making desserts earlier and making love, quite a bit of time had passed.
The sky was already starting to darken a little.
Lying in bed, I took out my phone and discovered that Nina had sent me many messages.
I read through them one by one, somewhat surprised to find that Nina had gotten in touch with Kane's brother.
And the two of them had decided to go out for dinner tomorrow.
I hesitated for a moment, then sent Kane a question: [Your brother Robert, what's he like as a person?]
Kane quickly replied: [He's a playboy. Why?]
Seeing this message, I couldn't help but frown.
If that was true, then Nina shouldn't continue having any contact with Robert.
But thinking about the messages Nina sent me, I could sense her excitement between the lines.
If I just told Nina this directly, would she be upset?
After hesitating for a long time, I finally sent Nina a message: [I'm not sure about his character. You'd better get to know him first.]
After a long while, Nina replied: [He's very gentlemanly and considerate. He came up to meet me at your wedding that day.]
I thought about it - for someone like Robert, if he wasn't really interested in Nina, there'd be no need for him to make the first move.
I felt a bit more at ease and still said to Nina: [Just be careful and stay safe. Contact me if there's any problem, okay?]
Nina replied with a smiley face.
I put down my phone and lay in bed, feeling a bit nervous about the upcoming meeting with Kane's mother.
Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.
The next day, I was woken up by a huge roaring sound.
The roar sounded somewhat familiar.
I opened my eyes and looked out the window.
It was actually a helicopter descending.
It landed in the villa's garden.
The strong wind from the propellers made the flowers sway precariously.
I stood up and walked to the window, immediately spotting Kane standing not far away.
Kane seemed to sense it and looked toward me, too.
He waved at me, and I smiled and waved back at him.
Kane quickly walked toward the castle, and after a while, he appeared in the room.
Today, Kane was wearing a simple black T-shirt and casual pants with a chain hanging from them, and his signature gun necklace around his neck.
He was also wearing sunglasses and seemed to have run his fingers through his hair.
Compared to his usual self, he now had a more casual, relaxed air about him.
He looked at me with a smile and said, "We can get ready to leave."
I quickly went to wash up, and when I came out, an outfit was already laid out on the bed.
Similar to Kane's casual wear today, it was a simple T-shirt and pants.
I felt like ever since coming to Kane's side, I hadn't worn such simple clothes in a long time.
After putting on the clothes, I let out a long breath, feeling incredibly relaxed and comfortable, as if I'd returned to the world I originally belonged to.
I turned around and looked at Kane somewhat nervously, saying, "Is it okay to dress so casually?"
Kane put his arm around my shoulder and said with a smile, "That's my mother. I know her well. If you dress up carefully just to meet her, she'll think she's making you uncomfortable instead."
I hadn't expected Kane's mother to be so gentle and considerate.
I broke into a smile at Kane. "Then let's go."
I brought the packaged cookies and red velvet cake, and with Kane's help, carefully boarded the helicopter.
When I sat in the helicopter, I had a feeling like I was in another lifetime.
Back then, Nina and I went to the bar wanting to party, but Kane caught me and brought me back to his estate.
I thought a miserable fate awaited me, but I never expected I could be this happy now.
I couldn't help but smile slightly.
Seeing me smile, Kane leaned closer and asked gently, "What's wrong? You look happy. Are you looking forward to meeting my mother?"
I turned to him and said with a smile, "I was just thinking about that day when you caught me from the bar."
Mentioning that day, Kane's expression showed a hint of displeasure.
He snorted lightly, reached out to poke my cheek, and said, "You've got some nerve bringing that up. If I hadn't gone to catch you, who knows which random guy you might have run off with."
I quickly shook my head and waved my hands. "I just wanted to relax a bit. I wouldn't have gotten involved with any other man."
After all, if it weren't for Kane's coercion, I think I would have been a nun for life, devoutly serving before the Lord.
Seeing me shake my head frantically, Kane's mood improved.
He said to the helicopter pilot in front, "We can take off now."
The roar sounded again, and Kane placed headphones on my ears.
Then his voice came through the headphones.
"The helicopter is very noisy. You need these to hear each other clearly."
I had never been on a helicopter before - in fact, I'd never even been on a plane.
Kane being so thoughtful moved me.
The helicopter gradually rose higher, and I watched the familiar city slowly become smaller.
Those tall buildings gradually became like ants, too.
I felt somewhat emotional, realizing this was how the world looked through the eyes of the wealthy.
Less than two hours later, the plane slowly landed on flat ground where an SUV was parked.
Kane helped me off the helicopter and explained, "My mother lives on a farm. She manages everything there herself."
It sounded like Kane's mother lived a very leisurely life. I couldn't help but smile and nod at him.
"I used to want to live on a farm, too. It's so free and easy."
It seemed Kane's mother, Tina's new husband, was a farm owner.
As I got into the SUV, I belatedly asked, "Does your mother's side also have many family members?"
Kane nodded and said to me, "That's right. After my mother married my stepfather, she had two younger brothers and a sister."
When Kane mentioned his blood siblings, his expression was quite indifferent, not exactly happy.
Looking at him, I felt rather sorry for him.
After all, when a woman has a new family, her focus is always there.
Kane's father died early, so he must have missed out on a lot of maternal love.
