Chapter 56

Chapter 56

I blinked and looked at Kane.

He continued, "You have no idea how passionate you were last night. I hope you'll be this passionate every night we spend together from now on."

Hearing him describe my wild behavior from last night, I couldn't help but reach out to cover his mouth.

But to my surprise, Kane stuck out his tongue and licked my palm.

I shyly pulled my hand back and rested my head against his chest.

Whatever, let him talk if he wants to. After all, what happened last night really did happen.

Oh, right, last night!

I suddenly snapped awake and instinctively reached down toward my lower body.

Kane grabbed my hand and frowned, asking, "What's wrong?"

I said to him somewhat anxiously, "Didn't you ejaculate last night?"

Kane flicked my forehead with an amused but exasperated look and said gently, "You don't really think I'm such a beast that I wouldn't clean you up, do you?"

Only then did I realize my body felt very clean and dry.

I glanced at Kane, a bit embarrassed, and obediently nestled back into his arms.

Kane held me and let out a rather helpless sigh.

Just as we were enjoying our quiet embrace, someone knocked on the door.

Bandel's voice came from outside, "Sir, the head of the Marika family wants to see you."

I saw Kane's brows furrow sharply, and a trace of disgust flashed in his eyes.

I'd heard of this Marika family - they seemed to be involved in drug and gun trafficking.

They were an indispensable presence for the entire mafia family.

If that was the case, he should have a good relationship with Kane.

But Kane's expression didn't suggest that at all.

I looked at him in confusion as he stood up.

He selected two outfits from the nearby closet, handed me one, and said, "Honey, come with me. You need to start getting used to these situations."

I nodded, actually agreeing with what Kane said.

After seeing so many mafia members yesterday and not fainting, I'd clearly grown.

Going with Kane to meet some family members would be good for me in the future.

At least I could avoid embarrassing Kane.

Kane chose a red dress for me that looked very bright and bold.

I sat in front of the mirror, washed my face, applied some skincare products, and let down my hair that had been pinned up yesterday.

A night of being bound up had given it natural curls, which actually added a more vibrant, mature quality.

I turned to look at Kane, my eyes full of anticipation.

Of course, Kane knew what I was expecting.

He smiled and nodded at me, saying, "You look beautiful like this too, a completely different kind of beautiful from before."

I smiled with satisfaction and couldn't help but shyly lower my head.

After getting ready, Kane and I walked out together.

The moment I saw Bandel, I thought of Nina and couldn't help asking with some concern, "Was Nina safely sent home last night?"

I don't know if it was my imagination, but after I said Nina's name, Bandel's expression seemed a bit unnatural.

Then he nodded and returned to his usual cold, composed manner, saying to me, "I personally drove Miss Nina home."

Hearing this, I let out a long breath of relief.

Bandel was Kane's man - I had no reason not to trust him.

I thanked Bandel, then followed Kane toward the reception room.

This reception room was very grand, with typical European castle-style decoration.

Inside sat a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses who looked about the same age as Kane.

Hearing the sound from the doorway, the man looked up. He smiled at Kane, stood up, and walked over with open arms.

"Dear Kane, it's been quite a while since we've seen each other. I'm so sorry I didn't make it back in time for your wedding yesterday."

Although Kane had seemed to dislike him in private, now that they were meeting face to face, Kane's expression softened considerably.

When dealing with others, Kane always kept a tight expression, looking stern and serious.

After the two men hugged, the man's gaze fell on me, his tone overly familiar.

"You must be Kane's bride? So beautiful. I'm sorry I couldn't attend your wedding yesterday. This is the wedding gift I prepared for you - I hope you like it."

With that, someone behind him presented an exquisite box.

Inside was a beautiful sapphire brooch. I blinked and said softly to him, "Thank you."

Only then did the man seem to remember he hadn't introduced himself yet.

He patted his chest and gave me a gentleman's bow, saying, "My name is Ryan."

Kane and Ryan sat down in the conversation chairs. Kane's tone was very cold. "I heard one of your ports had a problem."

At the mention of this, Ryan's expression became complicated.

He seemed to have a lot he wanted to say, but in the end, just sighed quietly. "Yes, I was ambushed while unloading cargo. I lost quite a few men, and the goods were stolen, too."

Kane let out a cold laugh, his eyes sharp as knives as he looked at Ryan. "That shipment had enough guns and ammunition to support a new gang. You're saying someone dared to rob you?"

Clearly, Kane didn't believe Ryan's story.

But Ryan appeared calm and collected, his expression showing helplessness.

"The other side must be our rival force. They were well prepared this time, so I believe we have a mole among us."

After he said this, I could feel the pressure around Kane drop significantly.

He was clearly very angry.

His expression was like a leopard lurking in the shadows, full of fierce intensity.

"Someone actually dares to betray our family. Do you have any idea who it is?"

I thought Kane's question was very interesting.

It made me wonder if Kane suspected Ryan of being the mole.

After all, Kane had shown dislike for Ryan from the very beginning.

But Ryan remained composed. He played with his lighter, smiling as he said, "I've already sent people to investigate this overnight. I'm sure we'll have answers soon."

Kane's expression didn't improve at these words.

He narrowed his eyes and curved his lips into a mocking smile.

"I remember you had an undercover agent close to you before, and you found him out very quickly. For something this big, you're moving surprisingly slowly."

Kane's tone was full of probing and sarcasm.

Ryan's expression changed slightly.

He lowered his eyes, stopped fidgeting with his hands, and said, "This is my fault. I haven't been strict enough in managing my people."

Kane didn't want to hear any of this. He just stood up and left him with one sentence.

"Within three days, I want to know who that mole is. Otherwise, the punishment will fall on you."

With that, Kane pulled me away.

I instinctively looked back at Ryan.

His expression was vicious, and the way he stared at Kane was full of indescribable hatred.

My heart couldn't help but tighten. Could this robbery really have been staged by Ryan himself?
