Chapter 16

His fingers felt a little cold. I stared at his knuckles and stood there like a statue, gazing at how peacefully he was sleeping although he was drunk. I didn't want to move and disrupt his sleep. Plus, I didn't know what to do, so I just kind of waited until he fell into a deep sleep. After a couple of minutes later, he gradually released my wrist as his hand fell to the side of the sofa. He was mumbling random words during his sleep, which I had no idea what he was saying. I gently grabbed his hand and put it under the blanket, putting it back to the side of his body.

"I'm sorry for everything," he mumbled, making me startled.

I just kept quiet and hoped that he didn't wake up. As I looked at him, I noticed the way he slept. How could someone sleep like this? Usually, drunk people would look like a hot mess, but he looked pretty cute. His messy brown hair swept across his forehead and his defined jawline showing his little dark brown scruff. He had clear and complexioned light skin, which looked fairly bloom. And, his enticing and soft full lips.

Wait?! Why am I looking at his lips?! SNAP OUT OF IT SOPHIA! I shook my head and averted my eyes to the other side of the room.

As I took a step back, I accidentally stepped on the beer can, making that crunching noise. Shit. I clenched my teeth, feeling a little panicked. He rolled to his other side, facing the couch. Phew. I wiped the sweats off my forehand. I quietly picked the four beer cans from the ground, holding under my armpits. I walked to the kitchen, throwing it into the recycling trash can. After I threw the trash out, i turned over and noticed that there was a crumbled note on the floor. I uncrumbled the paper ball and read the note. It was the note from his mother, saying that she won't be home for the week. I threw the note back in the trash. Maybe this is why he was so upset today. Afterwards, I locked the door from the inside of his house and silently walked out his house.

I grabbed the keys out of my bag and unlocked the door. I quietly tiptoed inside the house, making sure that I do not wake my mom up. Suddenly, the light in the living room was turn on.

"It's nice to see you home early," my mom retorted, scaring me and making me jump.

She didn't even get up from the couch. Literally, she freaking scared the shit out of me. I looked over at her, seeing her lying down on our couch while watching her favorite television show about house decorations. I mean like shit... I was hoping that she didn't hear me come in, knowing that she would interrogate me with questions.

"You were about to get in trouble Missy until I called Anne," she addressed, raising one of her eyebrow.

"What did she say?" I asked, standing near the stairway.

"She said that you were going to sleepover her house since you guys were doing a project. I didn't think that you were going to be home tonight," she stated, still lying on the couch.

"Oh yeah we finished a little early today, so I was like I'm going to go home. Why are you still up?"

"I should be asking you that question. You have school tomorrow and you're out late," she argued, giving me the death stare.

"Okay im sorry mommy. I'm going to sleep right now. Night night," I said in a hurry, quickly running up the stairs before I get more of her lectures.

I walked upstairs to my room, opening it and threw my bag on the ground. I jumped on my bed and threw my hoodie on the floor. As I comfortably laid on my bed, I thought about

"Gosh mother, you scared me," I commented, placing my hand over my heart.

what happened with Bradley. It made my heart race as I could visually imagine the way he slept on my lap. It was like seeing a sad child who wanted to be comfort by their loved one. I hate to admit it, but he kind of cute. When he was drunk, he acted like a peculiar, free spirited, and wild kid. It was quite amusing, but also sad at the same time. It makes me want to get to know him a little know better.

Anne walked to my locker with her arms crossed over her chest, which reminded me of my mother when she was angry or annoyed with me.

"What?" I questioned, staring at her innocently while chewing on my apple.

"You have a lot of explanation to do. Where were you yesterday Sophia?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips.

"Oh I was trying to find a job," I lied, placing my textbook on the shelf of my locker.

She glared at me, knowing that I was lying to her.

No you weren't. You're lying to me. Where were you really at?" as she slightly puckered her lips.

"I was just out," I replied shortly, trying to avoid telling her the truth.

"Out? like where?"

"Like just out."

"I saved your butt yesterday! Your mom called me and asked me where you were at because you didn't want to answer your freaking phone," she bickered.

"I'm sorry! My phone died, i apologized.

"If you don't tell me, then I'm going to have to unsave you," she said sternly.

"Fine! I was at Bradley's house yesterday," I admitted.

"What? What for?" she asked, looking confused.

"He was drunk..." I muttered, glancing at my fingernails.

He was drunk and your dumbass went over there?"

"I just didn't want him to do anything stupid," I scoffed.

"You guys are friends now?"

"No. I can't be a nice person and care for people?" I sarcastically stated.

"Oh I see what this is," she smirked.

"What?" I questioned, scrunching my nose and furrowing my eyebrow.

"You like him," she asserted, sending me that evil smile.

"What?! Are you out of your mind? I do not like him," I asserted.

"You sure? You went all the way to his house just to take care of him," she mocked, pouting her lips.

"How are things with you and your lover boy Kyle?" I asked, changing the topic.

"Interesting. I love how you immediately change the subject to me. I see how things are," she chirped with that playful smile.

"Mr. Sen," Mrs. Jones called out, bluntly staring at the back of the class.

Everyone diverted their attention to the back of the class as well. We all stared at Bradley who was passed out. He put his head down on the table, covering his arm over his face. She sighed in aggravation and grabbed her heavy literature textbook. She walked over to Bradley's desk and slammed her book on his desk.

"What?" he grumbled, lifting his head up.

He was unphased and didn't even flinched. When she did that, my heart skipped from startling by the loud slam on the desk.

"Am I that boring to you?" she said sarcastically with her usual serious face expression.

"Do you really want me to answer that question?" he replied with that smug smile, causing the class to snicker.

She let out a small chuckle and faked a smile.

"The sense of humor that you have Mr. Sen. You can actually answer that question in detention with me after school," she addressed.

"Ooh," as everyone snickered and stared at each other.

Dang. I have never seen him being that humiliated before in my classroom life. But, it didn't look like it bothered him because right after that he rolled his eyes and placed his head on the desk again. After the boring lecture about who knows what, English class was finally over. All of the classmates began to pack up and left the classroom including Mrs. Jones. He was still sleeping. I took a deep breath and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around with that tired expression and stared at me.

"Hey drunk boy. Class is over, as I patted his back.

"What?"

"I said that class is over," I informed him as he looked around the class and it was empty.

He looked up at the clock and lazily got out of his chair.

"Here," as I handed him a hangover medicine.

"What is this?" he queried, looking at me with confusion.

"It's for your hangover," I stated simply.

"Hangover?"

"Remember? You were throwing this huge party yesterday and drunk out of your mind. And you said that I am the stupid one," I mimicked, being petty.

He scowled at me with annoyance in his eyes.

"I am not in the mood today to listen to your smart ass comments," he hissed.

"My bad," I replied, lifting my hands up and slightly shaking it.

"I thought you were still upset with me?" he questioned in his low and raspy voice, suddenly changing the subject.

"I want to make a peace offering," I murmured, glancing at the loose tie on his neck.

"Peace offering?"

"Yeah... for the other day," I answered in a low soft voice, playing with my earlobe.

He stared at me, waiting for me to continue with my response. I knew that I was wrong for accusing him for something that he didn't do because I couldn't control my anger. Although I cared about my pride, I wasn't afraid of apologizing to someone for being wrong. But, it was a little hard to apologize to him.

"I just wanted to say that I'm" *coughs* "sorry for" *coughs* "the other day."

I glanced up at the ceiling, biting my gum and waiting for his reply.

"And?"

"And...I shouldn't have accused you like that," I answered.

"And?"

"I was wrong," I replied again.

"And?"

"And what else do you want me to say?" I barked.

He raised one of his eyebrow up.

"Sorry," I muttered, scrunching my nose and puckering my lips.

He let out a small laugh.

"Its cool dont worry about it. I'll just add it to your other debt," he commented.

I guess we're okay now. I felt relieved after I apologized to him. I don't know, but it felt weird fighting with him.

"I don't think so sugar bear. You're the one who owe me," I winked.

After that, we chuckled and left the classroom. I'm glad we sorted our argument.

It was odd. I guess we're becoming friends.

I sat in the cafeteria, eating my nasty lunch food: plain cheese pizza, dry french fries, and a carton of chocolate milk. Anne was meeting up with Kyle to talk about something. Then, Dana comes over with her lunch tray and sat beside me. Today was a pretty chill day.

"Sophia!" Dana exclaimed, giving me a hug.

"What's up Dana?" I said, smiling at her.

"So, I am throwing a birthday party this weekend since i'm turning 16 and you are invited my friend," she said excitedly with a wide smile.

"Party...?" I questioned.

"You not going to reject my invitation right?" she stated, fluttering her eyelashes.

"No! Of course not!"

"Great, because I invited Bradley and his friends as well and told them that you were coming too," she blabbered, stabbing her meatball with her plastic fork.

"What?! Why would you invite those idiots?" I queried, looking at her with a confused expression.

"Because I think his friend Alex is cute, and plus, you wouldn't want to ruin my birthday right?" as she took a sip of her milk.

"You know I don't like them," I whined, playfully saying it.

I am not going to tell my friends that I am friends with Bradley if I claimed that I hated him so much.

"Yeah right. You've been hanging around Bradley like you guys are the best of friends."

"He's not my best friend," I stated, rolling my eyes.

"I'm sorry, I mean your boyfriend," she snickered.

"No he is not boyfriend," I disagreed, furrowing my eyebrows.

Soon he will be," she sneered.

"Never ever. EVER," I asserted.

"Uh huh," as she nodded her head up and down in disbelief.

I rolled her eyes at her ridiculous comment, giving her the side eye. Me and Bradley? A couple? Yeah okay, not even in a million years.
