Chapter 35
My eyes widened as I watched him kissed me. I stood there stiffly, not knowing what to do next. I was so shock that I couldn't even move since he kissed me intentionally. Is he's trying to mess with my head? His cold hand suddenly touched my cheeks. I felt like my knees was shaking with weakness while the butterflies in my stomach are running around in a circle. Not only that, my heart won't stop pounding. There was this knot inside of my stomach, twisting with nervousness. He suddenly opened his eyes, staring down at me with his sparkling hazel eyes. I quickly pushed him off with all of my strength, breaking our kiss away. My face heat up with embarrassment.
"A-are you freaking c-crazy? Why the h-hell did y-you just k-kiss me?" I stammered in a loud voice, fluttering my eyelashes.
"To put it bluntly, i kissed you because I feel like it," he snickered with bitterness in his voice.
I scoffed in anger. I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist, trying to control my temper. He glanced down at my fists and stared back at me, forming a little sly smile in the corner of his lips.
"What's wrong Princess? Do you wanna punch me in the face?" as he continued to have that infuriating smirk.
I glared at him, feeling extremely pissed off. I wanted to smack the smirk right off his face. I raised my hand up and slap him across his cheek. His face turned swiftly to the side after I slapped him. His smile slowly disappeared, but eventually, he formed that infuriating and cold smirk, touching his cheek. He was being extremely cold towards me. Even though I could feel my eyes tearing up, I could never let him see me cry. Ever. I won't lose to his ignorance nor game.
"Do you think it's funny?" I argued with a scowl on my face.
"I laughed didn't I? If I want to laugh, I'm going to laugh," he replied harshly as the smirk on his face vanished.
"Why are you acting like an asshole today? I just don't understand? What happened that made you this way?" I yelled.
"You're seriously such a bothersome. Stop asking me these personal questions. No wonder everyone is so fed up with you," he scoffed.
"For starters, I could ask any questions that I want. If I feel curious about something, I'm going to ask. Just like how I can't make you answer, you can't make me stop wondering," as I fought back.
"Congratulations. Do you want a prize for acting like a peace maker or being noisy as hell? Why don't you stop getting in people's businesses?" as he chuckled, staring at me with a bitter expression.
"Why are you acting like this?" I exclaimed with frustration as I furrowed my eyebrows.
He scoffed with annoyance and rolled his eyes.
"I hate girls who are so stupid. Do you want me to repeat it? Because. It's. None. Of. Your. Business," he growled, stepping closer to me face as I could see the anger filled in his eyes.
"Is this because I accused you? Because if it is, I didn't mean..."
As I tried to apologized, he cut me off. He rolled his eyes and stared at me like there were flames in his eyes. You could see how much anger he was expressing.
"Not everything is about you Princess. I don't give a crap about your issue. There's bigger problems that I'm dealing with," he barked, glaring at me.
I tried to stop the waters from falling, but I couldn't. I'm such a sensitive person. When someone speak to me with a harsh tone, I tend to tear up easily.
"I get that, but you don't have to be so rude about it," as I tried to explain.
He ran his hand through his hair and scratch his neck roughly
"Leave me the hell alone. Don't blame your love problem on me," he snapped, raising his voice.
"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" I yelled, fuming with anger.
"It's not my fault that Kyle is in love with your best friend instead of you. Being upset over a guy who doesn't even like you is pathetic," he chortled, scoffing with a bitter smirk.
I couldn't believe that he just humiliated me like that. Yeah, I know that Kyle wasn't my boyfriend, but hurts when he said that. I couldn't hold onto my tears anymore. My eyes got watery and red.
"You... I can't... I HATE YOU," I screamed, pushing him and storming out of the room.
I ran out the room with tears running down my face. Why am I crying? I assumed and accused him, so of course he was going to react like that. I guess I deserve it. I wiped my tears off, angrily walking outside.
*Bradley's Point of View*
She is so damn annoying. Why is she acting like she care so much about me? I don't need anyone to care about me. I'm a big boy. I can take care of myself.
I walked out the classroom minutes later after she stormed off. I walked towards my locker, getting my leather jacket out of the hanger. All of a sudden, Jenny, the red haired girl approached me. We had a thing, but it was never something serious. I'm not into girls who easily give themselves up nor being in a relationships either. It's not my thing. It's more of playing around. I'm not going to reject a girl that wants me, but doesn't mean I have to be serious about them.
"Hey Bradley. Why don't we go somewhere more private?" Jenny whispered, biting her lips seductively.
She touched my chest with her hand, sliding her finger across my collarbone. I grabbed her hand, stopping her from touching me. I hated when girls touched me.
I'm not in the mood today, I hissed.
"You're never in the mood," she pouted, holding onto my arm.
I stared at my arm and ran my hand through my hair, feeling annoyed. I glared back at her.
"I'm giving you three seconds to get out of my face," I replied, trying to stay as calm as I can.
"Don't be like that Brad," she whined in a high pitch voice.
I grabbed her hand and pushed it off my arm.
"I said I'm not in the mood, so leave me the fuck alone," I said angrily, raising my voice.
"S-sorry. I'll l-eave you alone," she muttered, quickly walking away.
"Woah what was that about?" Alex, my best friend asked, coming out of nowhere.
[Alex has been my best friend since freshmen year. We play soccer together. He knows everything about my life and never takes pity on me. That's why I get along with him. He always try to brighten up my mood although he could be annoying at times.)
He placed his hand on my shoulder. I rolled my eyes in frustration. I was not in the mood to deal with anyone today. I can't control my temper. First it was Sophia then it's her. This is why I cannot stand being around people who are always in my business. Once I'm in a bad mood, I tend to be in a bad mood all day.
"I don't know. She's being clingy and annoying," I answered in a blunt tone.
"That's women for you bro," Alex sighed, playfully shaking his head.
"Tell me about it," I agreed, rolling my eyes.
"Enough with her. What's up with you and Sophia? I saw her running out crying?"
"Why did you assume that I made her cry?"
He gave me this "I know you did it" face expression; it's that duck lip and dry stare.
"I don't know maybe it's because I saw her running out of the classrom and saw you coming out later on," he said.
"I don't want to talk about it. She's just annoying too," I replied dryly.
"Okay bro. How about we just go to the park and play some basketball?"
"Sounds good."
D
After my basketball game with Alex, I arrived home and unlocked the front door. I walked inside and shut the door from behind. The house was empty as usual. I walked straight to my room and threw my book bag and leather jacket on the ground with the rest of my dirty clothes that are scattered around the floor. I don't like to tidy or clean up my room. I walked downstairs to the kitchen and found a note on the fridge.
Hey Sweetie I won't be home for the week! I'll be on a business trip! If you need anything, call George. I also left some money inside the drawer.
Love you,
Mom
Of course. She's barely home.
[My parents got divorced when I was 6 years. My father left my mother for another woman who he fell in love with at work. Ever since he got remarried, he barely shows up in my life. I despise my father. He always hated me for ruining his relationship with my mom because she paid more attention to me when I was baby. Like, what kind of father gets upset over a mother caring for her child? Not only that, he made my mother even more workaholic. All she does is give me money to take care of myself. Then, George comes along and makes it even worse.]
I rolled my eyes. I took the note off and crumbled it up into a ball, throwing the crumbled paper onto the squeaky white floor. I opened the fridge and grabbed the bottle of beer. After that, I plumped down onto the couch and turned on the TV, watching a basketball game. As I was sitting on the couch, not even paying attention to the game, I opened the beer and chugged it down my throat.
*Back to Sophia's Point of View*
Ugh! He's such an asshole today. I punched my pillow with my fist multiple times, pretending like his face was on the pillow. Suddenly, my phone rang.
(Ring tone for Bradley): I'm a Barbie girl in my Barbie world. Life in plastic? It's fantastic~
Oh what the hell does he want? I stared at his name on my phone and rejected his call. (His caller ID was labeled rival attachment since I'm always bumping into him and he keeps on challenging and testing my freaking limits in terms of annoying me). But then, he kept on calling me again repeatedly. He probably called me about six times. Grr.. I picked up his phone call.
"What do you want?!" I answered angrily.
"My lovely princess. Are you happy to hear my voice? Because I am," he replied drunkingly.
"Bradley?" I said, feeling confused.
"That's me cupcakes!" he exclaimed through the phone.
"Are you freaking drunk right now?!"
He began to chuckle.
"You know me so well."
"Where the hell are you right now?!"
"Me? Oh? All alone in this hell hole of a home? You should come and join meeeeee~"
I couldn't leave him being drunk alone, not knowing what he could do. It's dangerous since he could just decide to hurt himself. If I know that someone is drunk, I couldn't bear to leave them alone.
"I'm coming. Stay where you are," I said sternly.
"I'll be waiting for you kittennnn."
I hang up the phone and wore my comfortable clothes: oversized hoodie and sweatpants. He texted me his address and I took the bus to his house. After I arrived at his house, I notice it was a nice single home with fences and gardens. I walked in front of the porch and knocked on the door a couple of times. However, no one answered.
"Are you in there Bradley?!" I shouted.
"Who is it?" he said, mimicking in a girly voice.
"Open up! It's me, Sophia," I exclaimed.
"Sophia?" he mumbled from the inside of his house He unlocked the door. He was standing at the door with one of his hand holding onto the door and the other hand holding a bottle of beer. His hair was all messed up. He was still wearing his uniform. His white shirt was unbuttoned, showing his plain black t-shirt with his tie hanging around his neck. He wobbled towards me, getting out of the door.
"I'm having a party!" as he smiled playfully.
"By yourself?" I said sarcastically with a confused look.
"Not anymore. You're here! Come on in," as he pulled me inside his house.
He closed the door as I stepped inside his house. His house was extremely nice. It was so clean, organized, and fancy. Chandelier, glass tables, white fancy sofa, white wall with pictures hanging around, and etc. But, I could feel how empty it was as well.
I looked around the house and stared back at him.
"I guess?"
"Come dance with me," as he grabbed my arm.
"No I think we should sit down first," I asserted, grabbing his arm and putting it around my shoulder.
"You right! I need to sit before I fall down," he nodded, shaking his head up and down.
Oh my goodness. When he's drunk, he's so freaking weird. It was like seeing a kid who ate a lot of sugary things and got high off from it. I sat him down on the couch and plumped down as well. It was so hard pulling him to the couch.
"Gosh you're heavy," I huffed.
"You know my mother is never home. She's either too busy doing her book launch or goes out with that old head George," he blurted, staring forward in his seat.
I didn't know what to say. I stared at his eyes, which was filled with so much anger and sadness. I wasn't someone who was that great at comforting others. But, I definitely wasn't going to let his drunk ass alone.
"I mean she's probably just working really hard right now, so don't be upset at her," I said softly, placing my hands on my lap.
"For goodness sake, even my own father doesn't want to do anything for me," he cackle with a bitter laugh.
I stared at him as he took another chug on the beer. I remained quiet and glanced at the ground. Even though he had this tough bad boy act, I could feel his pain. I didn't expect that out of him. I guess when you're drunk, you tend to express your honest side more. Never judge a book on its cover right?
"You're quiet," he interrupted.
I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Sorry"
What were you thinking about so deeply?" he questioned, staring at me with his hazel eyes.
"Nothing at all," I answered, looking at him.
I quickly grabbed the beer off his hand before he could take another shot.
"That's mine," he whined.
"No there's no more in here," I lied.
Literally, there was four beer cans on the ground. It was crushed. He sighed out of tiredness and placed his head on my lap. I felt my heartbeat pounded.
"Uhm. I think you should get..."
"Just let me lay on you for a moment," he quietly whispered.
He rested his head on my lap. I didn't know what to do. I could hear the sadness in his voice. I guess he's going through a lot right now that's why he's acting out. After a couple of minutes later, he fell asleep. I carefully placed his head on the couch, covering his body with the blanket. I turned off the television and checked to see if the gas are turned off. As I quietly walked pass by Bradley, he grabbed my wrist.
"Don't leave me here all alone," he muttered with his eyes closed, laying on the couch.
