Chapter 208

Chapter 208

Zander grabbed Elise's hand, ready for a complete showdown, "I'll go with you to pick up the kid!"

Elise quickly refused, "No need! If you go and run into Matthew, it'll only make things worse!"

"But Matthew is so arrogant, I can't stand watching this anymore!" Zander said angrily.

Since Atticus wasn't around, Elise sighed and said with mixed feelings, "Well, Matthew is Atticus's dad after all!"

As the biological father, he has visitation rights!

Parker thought for a moment and agreed with Elise's idea, "Right, let Elise go pick up Atticus. Zander, you don't need to go. Focus on the business, don't let Matthew affect how you run the company!"

Zander angrily punched the sofa.

The next morning, Matthew brought Chris and drove to the kindergarten, walking into the principal's office.

When Haven saw it was Matthew, she quickly stood up, staring at him warily, "What do you want? Are you going to just waltz in here and take the kid?"

Haven tried to call security.

Chris pulled out an agreement and slammed it on the desk, "Principal, call your boss and tell him to come here!"

Haven froze, her eyes falling on the agreement, "I'm the one who founded this kindergarten. This is..."

Chris pulled over a chair for Matthew. Matthew sat down and crossed his legs, "That saves us a lot of trouble!"

"Starting today, your kindergarten belongs to me!"

Haven was stunned, "What do you mean?"

Chris shook his head, pulled out a business card from his briefcase and handed it to Haven, "Look at this. Do you know who's sitting in front of you?"

Haven took the card and was shocked, "You're the chairman of the Moore Group, Mr. Moore?"

Matthew's voice was cold, "Name your price. How much? I'm buying this kindergarten!"

Haven wasn't happy, "So what if you're Mr. Moore? I don't want to sell. You can't force me to sell, can you!"

Matthew gave a cold smile, "If you sell to me now, I can give you a good price that'll satisfy you! But if you don't want to sell, I can make your kindergarten go bankrupt in a few months. Believe it or not!"

"The Moore Group has that capability, don't we?"

The Moore Group was worth billions of dollars, and the Moore family was the top family in Emerald City. Shutting down a kindergarten would be a piece of cake!

Matthew wasn't bluffing or exaggerating!

Chris unscrewed a pen and shoved it into Haven's hand, "Sign it now!"

Haven stammered, "When I founded this kindergarten, I spent over five million dollars. It makes millions in profit every year..."

Before she could finish, Matthew said, "I'll give you ten million dollars, plus you can keep thirty percent of the kindergarten's future profits! How's that?"

Haven's eyes lit up immediately. She couldn't contain her excitement, never expecting Matthew to offer such good terms, "Since Mr. Moore insists on buying it, I agree!"

"But I don't understand why Mr. Moore must buy my kindergarten?"

A tender look appeared in Matthew's deep eyes, "No particular reason. Just for my child!"

Chris mocked Haven, "Still think we're kidnappers?"

Haven quickly put on a flattering smile, "How could Mr. Moore be a kidnapper! You can tell from your presence you're not!"

Matthew said impatiently, pointing at the agreement, "Just sign it!"

"Okay, right away!"

After Haven signed, the kindergarten officially became Matthew's property.

"To avoid making Atticus suspicious, you'll continue as principal here. I'll come visit him from time to time!"

"Okay, whatever you arrange!" Haven nodded respectfully.

Just then, the kindergarten bell rang. Matthew couldn't help but look toward the office door.

He saw the kindergarten teachers leading their groups of children in an orderly fashion to the playground to play various games.

Matthew's eyes immediately found Atticus.

He saw him obediently waiting in line for the slide. Matthew's eyes instantly filled with tenderness.

Reading the situation, Haven smiled and said, "Should I call Atticus over?"

Matthew's fingers tapped lightly on his thigh, then he suddenly gestured to Haven, "Can't be too abrupt. It'll scare Atticus. Let's take it slow!"

Matthew paused, then suddenly asked Haven, "What time is lunch?"

Haven said, "Eleven-thirty!"

Matthew nodded, forming a plan, "Today I'll serve the kids their lunch!"

"Chris, go back to the company. Handle anything that's not a big deal yourself!"

Chris was shocked and didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "Mr. Moore, you're a company chairman serving kids lunch? That's not good for your image or the company's, is it?"

"Not good?" Matthew smiled, "I think it's great! Shows that both the company and I care! That's what we're doing. You head back now!"

Chris couldn't argue with Matthew and had to return to the company alone.

Finally, at eleven o'clock, Matthew took off his suit jacket, put on a white apron, wore a white chef's hat, held a ladle, and stood at the serving station in the cafeteria. Standing next to him was an expressionless, muscular bodyguard. The scene was quite surreal.

Haven stood in the cafeteria, wanting to grin, but the bodyguard suddenly gave her a sharp look, and she immediately straightened her face.

She had been thinking of taking a photo to show off on her social media, but seeing the bodyguard's expression, she didn't dare!

Soon, the kindergarten teachers brought the children to get their food in an orderly manner. Haven had already messaged all the teachers to explain the situation, so they weren't surprised to see Matthew serving food.

However, the children started talking.

"Why is someone different serving our food today?"

"This man is so handsome!"

"Will you be serving our food from now on?"

Clearly, children loved new things and chattered away around Matthew.

Matthew didn't find it annoying and talked with them warmly.

When Atticus came up, he looked Matthew over and suddenly recognized him, his body trembling in fear, "You're that bad man!"

Matthew didn't want to force Atticus to accept him as his father right now. He needed time to adjust.

He smiled slightly, his voice extremely gentle, "Right now I'm a cafeteria worker serving food. I'll be working here from now on. Atticus, what do you want to eat? I'll serve you!"

Atticus was skeptical, worried that Matthew would claim to be his father again.

Haven quickly came over, smiling, "This man won't hurt you. Just say what you want to eat!"

With Haven beside him, Atticus finally gathered his courage and pointed at the dishes he liked, "I want this, this, and this!"

"Okay!"

Matthew felt so happy, happier than he'd been in a long time.

He scooped a big spoonful of each dish, as if afraid Atticus wouldn't have enough to eat.

But Atticus shook his head, "I can't eat that much. If I don't finish it, it'll be wasted!"

Matthew said, "I'll be more careful next time. Just eat this for now!"

Atticus insisted, "No, I can't waste food even once!"

The bodyguard standing nearby thought, 'Definitely his son—same stubborn personality!'

Matthew wasn't upset at all. Instead, he loved Atticus even more, his eyes full of fatherly love, "Okay, I'll scoop some back!"

Matthew scooped half the food back, and only then was Atticus satisfied and happily found a seat to eat.
