Chapter 191
Elise lowered her head and said, "I have something to do this afternoon, so I can't make it! Zander, you're the company president. It'll be fine with you there to accompany them!"
The business partners protested, "Without a beautiful lady like you joining us, we won't enjoy the meal!"
"Exactly! If you were there, we could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk!"
Zander pleaded gently, "Elise, what could be more important than business?"
Elise said tactfully, "I can't drink anyway! You guys should go!"
The business partners all looked disappointed. Zander's eyes were deep and thoughtful, but he didn't push her.
"Alright, since you don't want to go, I won't force you!"
Elise said gratefully, "Zander, thank you for understanding!"
After leaving the conference room, Zander left the company with the business partners.
That afternoon, Elise drove to the Moore Group building and sent Matthew a message.
Elise: [I'm downstairs!]
Matthew replied immediately.
Matthew: [I'll be right down!]
In less than three minutes, Matthew came down with a bouquet of roses and handed them into Elise's car.
Elise was both surprised and shy, declining politely, "Mr. Moore, what's this for?"
When Matthew was on good terms with Amelia before, he sent her flowers every day. He hoped this would help Elise recover her memory.
However, he said instead, "You let my grandfather leave without regrets. I can't thank you enough! It's just a bouquet of flowers. Please accept it, Ms. Sinclair!"
Matthew's words carried an undeniable force. Elise had no choice but to accept and placed the roses in the back seat.
"Mr. Moore, what did you want to see me about?" Elise asked.
Matthew said, "Come with me somewhere!"
"Where?" Elise asked again.
Matthew kept it mysterious, "You'll know when we get there!"
With that, Matthew opened the car door and invited Elise to get out.
Elise got into Matthew's car, and Matthew instructed the driver to go to Field's clinic.
"Ms. Sinclair, this is Field, a world-renowned psychoanalysis expert," Matthew introduced, "Field, this is the Elise I mentioned to you!"
Field understood and shook hands with Elise.
"Ms. Sinclair, pleased to meet you!"
Elise looked at Matthew in confusion, "Mr. Moore, what are you trying to..."
Matthew said with emotion, "Didn't you say you lost all your memories from three years ago? Don't you want to know what happened three years ago? Field might be able to help you!"
Elise immediately understood what Matthew meant!
But she became anxious.
If she really remembered what happened before and realized she was Amelia, how would she face Matthew?
What would happen to her relationship with Zander and the Lawson family?
Matthew's eyes were sharp, seeing through Elise's concerns.
"Ms. Sinclair, everyone has memories, and you're no different! As for what happens after you recover your memory? Let's just let things take their natural course, okay?"
Elise finally let go of her doubts, her eyes determined.
"Alright, I'll listen to you! Field, how do you plan to help me recover my memory?"
Field said cautiously, "I can't guarantee I can help you recover your memory. First, I need to analyze your brain waves to see what's really going on!"
Elise was willing to cooperate, "Okay!"
After that, Field conducted a three-hour brain wave examination on Elise.
When the examination was over, Field called Matthew alone into the consultation room, looking quite serious.
"Mr. Moore, Ms. Sinclair's test results are in. According to the brain wave readings, she did suffer a drug attack that caused memory fragments to be lost."
"The memories from three years ago have been selectively deleted by the brain and are very difficult to recover! The reason we normal people can remember things from three years ago is because we constantly review and reinforce those memories in our daily lives."
"But no one has talked to Ms. Sinclair about her previous memories for three years, which is why she can't remember anything at all!"
Matthew couldn't hide his disappointment.
"Does that mean there's no hope?"
Field said carefully, "It's impossible for her to recover her memory, but..."
"But what?" Matthew quickly asked.
Field explained, "Recovering memory is an emotional matter. You can use logic to help Ms. Sinclair accept her past identity!"
Matthew frowned, not quite understanding what he meant.
"Can you be more specific?"
Field stroked his chin and thought for a while.
"Let me give you an example. Suppose Mrs. Moore has a mole on her neck, and now Ms. Sinclair also has one on her neck. Mr. Moore could tell Ms. Sinclair that there can't be two people in the world who look so alike, even having a mole in the same place on their neck! This can only prove one thing, that Ms. Sinclair and Mrs. Moore are the same person!"
"The more examples like this there are, the more Ms. Sinclair will come to accept her identity as Mrs. Moore!"
Matthew suddenly understood, and his dim eyes brightened again.
"I get it now. Thank you, Field!"
Field smiled modestly, "I hope my suggestion can help Ms. Sinclair accept her identity as Mrs. Moore soon!"
Then Matthew and Field returned to the examination hall, where Elise was waiting.
"How is it?" Elise's eyes sparkled with eagerness. She too wanted to know what happened to her three years ago!
Field said, "We don't have results yet. I need to fully analyze Ms. Sinclair's brain wave data before I can be sure!"
Elise was a bit disappointed by this answer.
Matthew smiled slightly, "No rush! Recovering memory isn't something that happens overnight. Take it slow! It's getting late. Let's have dinner together. I've invited two friends to join us!"
Elise hesitated, "You're having dinner with friends. I shouldn't go, we don't know each other!"
But Matthew said with a smile, "I already told them you'd definitely come. If you don't go, won't they say I don't keep my word!"
Elise hesitated for a moment, then agreed.
"Alright then!"
Elise found it strange, she actually listened to everything Matthew said!
Half an hour later, Matthew brought Elise to a restaurant and sat down at a table by the window.
Soon after, Sophia and Jeremy walked in hand in hand. Following Matthew's instructions, Sophia could only call her Elise, not Amelia.
Sophia suppressed the sadness in her heart, forced a smile, and shook hands with Elise.
"Ms. Sinclair, hello!"
Jeremy greeted her too, "Ms. Sinclair!"
Matthew introduced them, "These two are my friends, Sophia and Jeremy!"
Elise felt their looks were strange, and nodded slightly.
"Ms. Brown, Mr. Wright, hello!"
The two sat down, and Sophia took a small doll out of her bag and handed it to Elise.
"Ms. Sinclair, we're meeting for the first time and I don't have much to give you! Keep this little doll as a memento!"
Seeing such a cute doll, Elise's eyes lit up immediately. After taking it, she couldn't put it down.
"It's so cute! Thank you, Ms. Brown! How did you know I've always loved dolls?"
Matthew and Sophia exchanged glances.
Having been Amelia's best friend for so many years, Sophia of course knew Amelia loved dolls!
"Because a good friend of mine also loved dolls!" Sophia stared into Elise's eyes.
"Really?" Elise was happy like a little girl, as if she had received a priceless treasure.
Sophia continued, "You've already heard about this friend of mine!"
"Who?" Elise quickly looked up at Sophia and asked curiously.
"She's Mr. Moore's wife, Amelia," Sophia's voice choked up, "Amelia loved dolls the most!"
