The moment we finally break the kiss, panting for air, I look at her in absolute awe. "How is this possible, flower? How are you standing here? You died in my arms."

Lyra takes in a shaky breath. "Yes... I did die, Kai. I passed away that night. But my spirit didn't ascend into the moon like normal shifters do. I was floating in a state of limbo. And the next thing I knew, I woke up in a forest with no memories at all, and I was found by this wonderful family about two months ago."

She turns, smiling warmly at the old couple standing nearby, who look back at her with pure love.

"I had been getting subtle, strange flashbacks over the past month," Lyra continues. "But two days ago, I suddenly woke up from sleep with every single memory completely restored. I remembered you, I remembered everything we went through, and I remembered dying in your arms. Then I remembered after I died, and the moment the Moon Goddess appeared to me while I was in limbo. She told me that even though my Phoenix had died, her divine spirit wasn't totally gone. She revived my Phoenix spirit back into my blood, which allowed me to be reincarnated in the same body."

I stare at her in wonder as she explains everything. I throw my arms around her, holding her tight as I look up toward the night sky. "Thank you, Goddess. Thank you!"

I grab Lyra and lift her off the ground, swirling her around in a circle. She yelps in surprise, laughing happily.

"Will you put our daughter down this instant, young man!" the old man suddenly barks, stepping forward with a scowl.

I gently set Lyra back down on her feet, turning my gaze to the old couple who are glaring at me defensively. "Uh... thank you for taking care of her, but she is mine. My fated mate. So you should probably back off—"

Lyra's hand instantly slaps my mouth, cutting me off. "Kai! They are my new family! Be nice! That's Martha, and he's John."

I sigh, pulling her hand down from my lips. "My apologies, John and Martha. I’m Kai, the Lycan Prince. King, I mean."

They both stare at me like they don’t care about who I am. The old man finally nods stiffly, though he still looks at me with a narrowed gaze. Good. These are the people one should call family.

I turn, pointing toward the open palace doors. "Please do come inside."

I lead them through the gates and straight into the grand ballroom. The chatter in the hall immediately dies down as everyone turns to look at me. I step forward, making sure to block Lyra from the crowd. "I have someone very special to show you all."

I shift and pull her out from behind my back, letting everyone see her for the first time again in two months. 

Gasps of shock echo through the ballroom. Amara drops her glass, and the crystal shatters on the floor, while Isolde screams out loud. Kara and her friends sprint straight across the room, crying tears of joy as they throw their arms around Lyra, hugging her tightly, all of them crying and talking over each other. Lyra hugs them back, crying happy tears of her own.

The dim atmosphere in the palace instantly transforms into a lively, joyous celebration. It's as though the entire kingdom just came back to life.

As I watch my beautiful mate laugh and talk with her friends, I look up through the glass ceiling at the full moon shining in the sky.

"You actually heard and pitied my broken heart. Thank you for bringing her back to me, Goddess." I say in a whisper.

Maybe it's the excitement coursing through my veins, or maybe I'm seeing things, but I could have sworn I saw the moon blink, as if she listened to me.

I smile and take a sip out of my drink as I watch my fox Queen.

Epilogue

Three Years Later.

Lyra’s POV

I stand in front of the full-length mirror inside our bedroom, looking at my reflection.

The classy, royal red gown I'm wearing hugs my tight curves perfectly before flowing down to the floor, emphasizing the round bump of my pregnancy. A golden crown sits on top of my silver hair that's constantly styled in a classy updo style. I feel so incredibly beautiful and complete.

And happy. That's actually the best part.

Suddenly, a pair of large warm arms wrap around my waist from behind. Kai pulls my back against his broad chest, leaning down to press a kiss on my shoulder.

I giggle softly, turning my head to catch his lips in a sweet kiss.

"Did I ever tell you how grateful I am to the Moon Goddess for giving me such an amazing, perfect mate?" Kai rumbles against my neck, his dark green eyes meeting mine in the mirror.

"I think you have. Ten times a day in fact.” I shake my head at him. Then I turn around in his arms and gaze into his eyes. “I love you so much, Kai," I whisper. I lean forward and pull his face down before kissing him.

Kai's hands slide down my hips, pressing his lower body into mine, and I instantly feel his thick cock getting hard againt my bump.

A breathless laugh escapes my lips as I push at his chest. "No way, my love! We need to leave right now before we miss Nick and Isolde's official mating ceremony!"

Kai flashes his white teeth as he rests his hands on his hips. "You know those two hate each other's guts, right?"

"Well, I think they're just secretly obsessed with each other," I say with an amused grin, fixing his high collar. "Besides, they have to mate to officially merge their territories for the sake of lasting peace. As the Lycan King, you should know how important political balance is!"

"Well, they have a long, long way to go," Kai chuckles, leaning down to press a hot kiss straight over my dress to my sensitive breasts. I bite back a moan. "I'm just glad ours is completely out of the way."

We had officially sealed our royal bond over a year ago, right after I graduated as a level three warrior from Krypton Academy. Now I am his Queen, ruling the kingdom by his side, and currently pregnant with our twin pups. I hope one of them is a fox though.

Kai drops down onto his knees and presses a soft kiss directly on my swollen baby bump. "You are the absolute best thing that ever happened in my life, Lyra. You and our unborn pups."

I smile down at him, feeling my heart burst with pure love as I run my fingers through his dark hair.

"Just one more kiss before we walk out that door, Queen." Kai says with a pleading tone. This man’s libido has been off the roof recently.

"No more!" I gasp playfully, backing away. "My lips are already swollen!"

I turn around to run towards the door, but Kai quickly catches me by the waist and pulls me straight back into his chest. He leans down and captures my lips in a breathtaking kiss that leaves my knees completely weak.

He pulls back slightly, staring deeply into my silver eyes with so much love.

"I love you so fucking much, my fox queen," he whispers softly.

"I love you more, my Lycan King," I answer, resting my head against his chest.

And Kai never stops showing me just how much he loves me for the rest of our lives.
